    Plains of Eidolon Weather Changes
    • Plains of Eidolon is having dynamic weather changes implemented, including rain and gusts of wind (see it HERE)
    • There will be an increased number of fish spawns in The Plains while it's raining
    • Should release this on PC this year

    Upcoming Sound Related Changes
    • RTPC: Low Health Occlusion -- ambient sound will be muffled at low health and sounds  from getting hit will be louder (hear it HERE)
    • A jukebox will become available for The Orbiter that allows players to play their choice of Warframe music and possibly Mandachord tunes
    • Octavia is receiving a new Mandachord soundpack as a result of a twitter poll -- EDM was the winner!
    • The changes made to Baza's sounds should be reverted next hotfix

    Tenno Pump Action Shotgun
    • Sounds and animations shown for Tenno pump-action shotgun HERE
    • The sound includes a lion growl deeply mixed in
    • Will release on PC this year

    Other Stuff
    • Prime Vault is opening in January rather than December -- will un-vault 3 Warframes

    Lastly, I just wanted to announce that I changed jobs recently, so my schedule will no longer permit me to consistently view Devstreams. Consequently, I will no longer be writing these overviews. I'm not at all remorseful, because from the beginning I just cared about making sure that everyone had access to this information as quickly as possible, and [DE]Taylor has been doing a wonderful job providing overviews in a timely manner.     Focus Revamp
    • The Focus gains are difficult to balance so that it is reasonable for casual players and also not easily completed by hardcore farmers
    • The ability point capacity for Focus will be universal rather than per school
    • The way Focus is gained may be completely altered 
    • The Focus cap will probably be removed, but after the current cap there will be diminishing returns
    • There will be a boosted period for the initial Focus points gained each day to make the system more reasonable to casual players - there will be a larger 'boosted period' for higher MR
    • Experimenting with allowing different mission types to also extend the Focus boosted period to reward diverse gameplay rather than farming the same mission type
    • Heavily looking into altering the costs and progression curve of Focus in general 

    Login Reward Revamp
    • After the initial 50 days, you will be able to select a 'track' that you can work towards
    • Once you select your 'track' you are locked onto that track for the next 50 days
    • Each of these track rewards are the regular landmarks that are available now, but you will be able to select which reward you want to work towards

    New Warframe - Khora
    • The original concept by Skyers was drawn from a lot of  ideas including melee, metal manipulation, and spider thread
    • Can summon a unique Kavat, has an Exalted Whip, and can alter damage (IPS) types which will also affect her visual design

    New Eidolon
    • There is a new Eidolon coming
    • This Eidolon is much larger than the Teralyst and may involve some flying components
    • This Eidolon is missing its head -- it has replaced it with one of the Ostron meat-mattresses
    • There are going to be different visual variations of this Eidolon as well as different variations of the Teralyst with something besides the tree-arm

    Operation Plague Star
    • This Operation is the result of the Infested Meteor -- it has not begun yet though
    • Snipetron and Ether Daggers will return as rewards
    • There will also be Infested Zaw pieces as rewards

    Two-Handed Katana
    • Two-handed large katanas are coming as an entirely new weapon class

    New Grineer Ghoul enemies
    • New Grineer enemies are coming
    • How they will be implemented is still TBD

    Other Stuff
    • Console build for Plains of Eidolon seems complete - hopefully submitting for cert today
    • Still planning on making a Hydroid Prime trailer when there's time
    • Acolytes will return in December along with their mods
    • The devs are open to the idea of adding the PoE's individual extraction system to other endless mission types
    • There are plans to allow Clans to create Dojo obstacle courses that allow people to add their own hazards, timers, and more 
    • There are Syndicate themed decoration sets for Dojos coming, along with similarly themed Landing Craft decorations
    • Bounty rewards are being upgraded so that you receive a reward after each objective within the Bounty is completed - only the last two objectives will be drawn from the entire reward pool with the rare rewards
    • Plains of Eidolon added a small (3m) universal Vacuum -- if you want a larger Vacuum, use a Sentinel for now
    • Shieldgating has been experimented with, but it didn't seem to make significant enough of a difference to the gameplay to really settle on a solution
    • Operators are getting selectable idle sets, the ability to interact with pets, and more melee animations
    • There's a new Event coming which will allow Relays to be re-built and will allow player's to choose which Relays re rebuilt, how they will look and more
    • Excalibur Umbra/The Sacrifice update is not coming this year
    • No new Raids are in development or even discussion -- there just isn't enough interest in them; hopefully new Eidolons will appeal to that audience
    • Working on a texture upgrade for the next update that will greatly improve the textures in the game, particularly on skin and details like scuffs

    Neither am i going to simply accept and adapt to this nor am i going to die because of that. I will simply find a solution together with other tenno through feedback (just like with the nullifier changes or further oberon rework tweaks) so that we can all safely enjoy a freshed up focus system without having to suffer.

    It would be interesting if they expanded on 'Energy refund' mechanics for certain caster type Warframes. Saryn, for instance, is quite an Energy glutton, but has the ability to restore her own energy by killing Spore'd enemies with Toxic Lash.

    This small amount for a niche action doesn't really offset her Energy consumption, but I think it is an interesting train of thought that these Warframes could find beneficial if it's expanded upon.

    Either way, I don't think Energy Overflow was really healthy for the game as it was, even if it did enable certain playstyles. I'm glad we'll be able to at least go to the table and discuss new alternatives.

    Fair, but there's already an entire modding system devoted to Warframes. And Arcanes. One of the main things that they deliberated about with when developing Focus was making it feel like a distinct and separate system. If it simply adds a new way to buff Warframes, it's not particularly innovative. I support it having its own niche in the game.

    It will be interesting to see the reaction. I have a very loyal personality so when I chose Naramon after completing Second Dream, I stuck with it -- it just happened to be one of the strongest schools. But I've never used Energy Overflow consequently and gotten by fine without it. It's definitely possible. I drop Energy Pads now and then, but they're easy to come by.

    Honestly I think it's great... and this is as someone that has abused Shadow Step for a long time. When it comes to something that they know should be changed, I'm glad they took the sledgehammer approach rather than sit and fret about compensating and upsetting players. That was the same thing that kept Vacuum exclusive to Carrier for so long.

    Focus Rework
    • Rework is coming with Plains of Eidolon
    • All Focus points gained until now will be refunded
    • The new Focus mode will revolve on the physical Operator that you play as rather than the 'Ghost mode' and Warframe that Focus currently augments 
    • Focus will make your Operator more combat-oriented, adhering to a different combat role depending on the school
    • None of the old Focus system will remain -- Energy Overflow and Shadow Step are gone
    • More details will be revealed in a coming Dev Workshop

    Glass Warframe
    • Glass Warframe's default helmet has been swapped -- the one shown previously is now her alternate
    • Will be obtained via Plains of Eidolon Quest
    • Passive has a chance to cast a small radial blind while in bright light
    • 1st power shoots a line of glass that does damage and keeps enemies impaled while maintained 
    • 2nd power causes the glass decorations on the Warframe to shatter and hover around her (or ally/enemy if cast on them) that causes a DOT damage area around the target
    • 3rd power creates a number of mirrors that attract enemy attention, reflecting damage they deal to them -- when the mirrors are shattered it makes a large AOE damage
    • 4th power is a toggle that creates an expanding radius that covers enemies within in molten glass which will slow/freeze enemies and that will create AOE shatter if they are hit by her 1st power

    Plains of Eidolon Updates
    • One shopkeeper sells Gene-masking kits for pets -- Feral Kubrow skin seen
    • Cetus will function as its own Syndicate with Standing that is earned by helping them
    • Custom weapon parts can be purchased with Cetus standing
    • Warframe masks for Operators can be purchased
    • Jobs for Cetus can be accepted from a Job board that will provide a steady stream of tasks to award Cetus standing and other rewards
    • Some of the Job rewards may seem meager, but many are aimed at beginning players that still need credits, etc
    • There will be a prospector NPC that will be involved in a new line-tracing mining mini-game that will touch on a rework of the Arcane system
    • There will be dynamic alerts that pop up within the Plains that offer smaller objectives
    • Enemies further away from the Cetus gate will grow higher level
    • Archwing controls are being reworked for Plains 
    • A bit of the Teralyst boss battle previewed HERE
    • There will be a new merchant for players that have completed War Within that offers Operator gear that allows players to battle the Teralyst
    • You will be able to fuse Arcanes to Operator armour pieces (including old Operator gear) to make your own loadout as well as craft custom Operator weapons

    Twitch Drops Promotion
    • There is a new promotion for Twitch streamers and their viewers that awards exclusive items 
    • When a Twitch streamer accomplishes certain Plains of Eidolon related goals, all the viewers of the stream will be awarded with a prize
    • This requires that the viewer has their Warframe account linked to their Twitch account and to watch the stream for at least 1 cumulative hour

    Personally hoping for Nemesis arm-scythe somehow... maybe as part of the Sentient-arm-weapon concept that was shown ages ago...?

    I also suspect it's because of the clashing viewpoints of IgnusDei and the DE art team. Obviously it would be highly unprofessional to divulge the exact details of the conflict they underwent, but I would assume that the skin is being abandoned to respect IgnusDei's refusal to accept the proposed alterations.

    Certainly sad news, I thought it looked great even with DE's changes.

  9. I assume it's related to the conflicting views of DE's art team and the original designer of the skin, IgnusDei.

    My (admittedly limited) understanding of the situation is that DE contracted him, and rightfully owns the concept, but is choosing to pursue an alternate design just because IgnusDei so strongly opposed their alterations to his work.

    It's disappointing, but I think it's pretty respectful at the same time.

    Glass-frame
    • Acquiring Glass-frame will be done through Plains of Eidolon somehow
    • A first draft for her powers has been done, but Scott wasn't happy with them; back to the drawing table

    Plains of Eidolon Updates
    • There may be 'checkpoints' (perhaps after each smaller objective) in The Plains of Eidolon that will save the loot and progress you've made
    • The Plains of Eidolon presents many new challenges in terms of mission flow and many things are still WIP, will become a more streamlined process as more landscapes are made
    • The concept art team has already started work on the next 'Plains' landscape -- currently thinking it will be placed on Venus
    • The current release timeline for Plains of Eidolon is still aiming at mid-September, but it's becoming a crunch
    • There will be a prospecting mini-game in Plains of Eidolon in addition to fishing that will allow you to mine for the gems 
    • The new gems are part of a revamp for the Arcane system -- the Arcanes from Trials will remain exclusive to those Trials, but there will be a new set in Plains of Eidolon
    • The way Arcanes are created and used will be expanded with Plains of Eidolon, including Arcane use for Operators and the new modular melee weapons

    Deluxe Skin Updates
    • Ember Deluxe skin will be an entirely new concept -- unclear how much of the original concept if any will remain
    • Sculpting progress shown on Mag Deluxe skin, will likely release before Halloween
    • Zephyr Deluxe skin is a side project for one of the members working on Plains of Eidolon -- not any progress to share 
    • Ghost-themed Nekros Deluxe skin by Kaz (Syncrasis) shown

    Other Stuff
    • The most recent round of PC Tennogen will be included in the next console update
    • The next round of Tennogen will be coming out sooner than usual because it will be halloween themed
    • The developers are currently mostly satisfied with Hydroid's revamp, but open to further feedback
    • Hydroid Prime will be released immediately following the end of Oberon's Prime Access
    • The Nemesis System that was shown before has been delayed by Plains of Eidolon, will probably not be included in The Plains update
    • No plans currently to add any kind of 'catch up' system for missed logins
    • The devs aren't opposed to adding a fourth tab to mod/appearance configuration, but it sounds as though as it's too much of a strain on the database 
    • Tintable Vandal weapons shown
    • Proto-skins for Lato and Bronco shown (2 of 5 skins) as part of an upcoming Event

    Plains of Eidolon
    • Release date is aimed at early fall -- around early September
    • There are numerous new techniques developed that should assist performance on all systems, including low-end laptops
    • The console development team has already begun work on Plains of Eidolon, should release only shortly after PC release
    • The Plains will be a 9 square kilometer space at release
    • Steve spoke extensively about the development process for The Plains and showed a lot of WIP shots for it
    • The team has already begun putting in thought and work towards more landscapes like The Plains for other planets
    • The actual time for the day-night cycles, whether or not the time of day can be manipulated by players, etc, are all still to be determined
    • Currently there are no plans to allow swimming -- perhaps Sharkwing could be implemented in the future though
    • Each of the different weapon tips available in Hok's Anvil will give Weapon Mastery XP
    • Melee Rivens may be similarly added to custom weapons based on weapon tips
    • There may be different levels of weapon that will allow you to easily craft multiple kind of weapons to experiment, and then upgrade it for further investment including Mastery XP yield
    • Dual weapons will also be craftable at Hok's Anvil
    • You can not explore Cetus as an Operator, but there will be a specific area available for them where you can meet the mentor for hunting Eidolons
    • Cetus is a limit of 50 players, but The Plains themselves will only house 4 player squads
    • The Eidolon boss fight isn't finalized yet, but it is designed to be a progression based battle with multiple stages

    The Sacrifice (Umbra Quest)
    • The Sacrifice is confirmed to be a cinematic quest

    Even though Ballas has narrated all of the Prime trailers, I don't think his voice is reserved exclusively for them... I honestly don't think the teaser has anything to do with a new Prime simply because Oberon Prime is too new... I think it's something else.

    Yeah, the energy regen seems really nice, and freezing enemies is handy, but he doesn't seem to have any way to do damage, or notably buff allies outside of energy regen. Seems like a nifty Warframe to play solo where you can go at your own pace, but would work a bit too slow with Warframe's general pace.

    Other Stuff
    • Braton Vandal and Lato Vandal are still planned to return, but the specifics of their release is still undecided
    • The Prime Vault will open again this Summer - around Tennocon time - to make Mag Prime and Rhino Prime available again, along with their Relics
    • The devs would like to make cinematic trailers for older Prime Warframes, but it's difficult to find the time to devote to it - perhaps if it was coninciding with an unvaulting or a new system or something else that put more emphasis on it
    • Still no plans to include a Mod slot for Augments, although some utility focused Augments such as Nova's Wormhole can be used in the Exilus slot
    • There are still plans to have Clan recruitment areas in Relays as well as more Relay features as mentioned long ago - this might be teased at Tennocon
    • There may be new Archwing content teased at Tennocon including revamped Corpus Archwing enemies
    • There are plans for Operator-only gameplay options, although these can't be discussed at this point
    • Oberon is getting a visual update so that his power produces grass -- Oberon Prime will produce larger ferns like in the cinematic trailer
    • There is something new to collect that is coming to Earth to encourage players to experience the re-mastered tileset - there will be hints in the upcoming Top Cow comic book

    However, there are many members of the art team that have been around since the beginning, and Keith Thompson is responsible for some of the classic Warframe designs like Volt.

    Oberon's recent changes will be available to console players when Oberon Prime goes live on all platforms on May 30

    • New NPC in Harrow's Quest -- Paladino, a clairvoyant speaker for The Red Veil
    • Harrow's alternate helmet shown
    • Harrow's abilities have been updated to be less reliant on headshots, although headshots still confer a greater bonus

    • Many small updates on power animations
    • The descriptive text for powers has been shown to reflect these changes

    Keystone 
    • Keystone is a completely new game by Digital Extremes
    • There is a small, separate team that's been working on this game -- its production will not affect Warframe
    • You can sign up for the closed Alpha at playkeystone.com

    Tennocon Updates
    • Baro Ki'Teer will have his entire inventory available to digital and physical Tennocon pass holders, and will be available for 72 hours
    • There is a list of content creators that will appear at Tennocon

    Other Stuff
    • The Equinox Alt Helmet that was shown a while ago has been delayed due to a technical error -- a corrupted zBrush file caused work done on it to be lost
    • Operators will not be modded in the same way as Warframes, but there is major secret work being done on them -- tune in to Tennocon
    • Multiplayer Simulacrum is coming
    • Shieldgating will be released soon along with the Earth re-master
    • In a coming update, Mods that are equipped to Sentinel weapons will be clearly denoted in the Arsenal UI

    New Grineer Chemstrike Enemy - Nox
    • New Grineer unit part of the Chemstrike team -- he is exposed to dangerous chemicals that have melted his flesh and will also have a custom gurgly voice
    • Uses a new gas weapon -- it's unclear if Nox's weapon will be available to players since it features an unusual minigun type grip
    • Nox will feature unique battle mechanics, such as shattering his glass helmet

    Sword + Gun Dual Wield 
    • Still in early stages -- melee weapon categories will be compatible with this feature in batches
    • Glaive + Gun will be the first combination, released with Harrow
    • Longswords, Daggers, Machetes, Scythes, Whips, and Rapiers will be compatible in the future
    • Nikanas are not one-handed, so compatability is unclear, Sword+Shield and Dual Wield melee categories may have their mechanics altered
    • Will be able to perform Charge Attacks, and the regular tap E combo will have its flow changed for this system

    Harrow - Priest Warframe
    1st Power - Shoots a line that chains struck enemies to the ground, freezing them
    2nd Power - Sacrifices all Shields to get buffs on reload speed and fire rate, there's also some kind of team healing component
    3rd Power - Creates a ghastly thurible that restores energy on all headshots while nearby it -- the amount of Energy restored can be increased by charging the power
    4th Power - Creates an invulnerability period and all damage received during the period will give bonuses after it ends
    • Harrow's passive is double Overshield capacity

    Other Stuff
    Next round of Tennogen items is coming soon -- hopefully next week
    • Mag Deluxe Skin is not releasing in May -- perhaps June
    First page of the Harrow webcomic revealed -- it will be almost twice the length of Octavia's
    • Console Build was submitted for cert yesterday, hopefully will be available next week -- will include up to Ambulas Reborn Event
    • The devs are still thinking that they'll add some kind of mechanical MOA-like pet to the game, but no concrete plans
    • Working on not having Syndicate Assassins appear while players are in a Quest for that Syndicate
    • Not opposed to adding A-B-C visual loudouts to Operators, but it probably wouldn't extend to gender/facial options to preserve the player's 'identity' -- no immediate plans to implement though

  19. Oberon is Oberon.

    Paladin was just a name used to refer to him while he was in the developmental stages and has literally no power over his design. Druid neither.

    Why try to pigeonhole him into cookie-cutter RPG classes, when Warframe doesn't - and never has - adhere to such archetypes?

    Who cares how closely he resembles a Paladin or a Druid as long as he's good at what he does? (although that's an entirely separate conversation...)

  20. I'm really enjoying the aesthetic of Harrow's design.

    I know that Kevin Glint illustrated the initial art we saw, but I was wondering if Geoff is the one behind his visual design? If so, is Harrow the first Warframe that Geoff's taken the lead on designing?
