  1. Just ran 2 Earth Railjack nodes solo. Fully playable and was fun! So awesome.

I need some tips on how to make the pilot guns aiming work though. The fixed aim was impossible, so I changed the settings so the reticle can move. But then the reticle moves at mach 1000. I lowered both Railjack aiming sensitivity to 0 and it still feels extremely hard to aim. When I saw YouTube videos of people playing Railjack (with mouse and keyboard) they could aim in their vision much better. Anyone got recommended settings?

  2. Awesome! I personally didn't think it to be out this early, looking forward to Railjack not destroying me on the first node, yay! Thanks for the hard work!

One question: I'm having a lot of black screen bugs, like right after a mission the screen goes black and it's random when (sometimes never) it goes back to normal. Sometimes some of the elements are still visible, like chat. When I ask a party member to force start a mission it usually goes back to normal. It literally just seems like a scripting bug where 'fade to black' is called but then someone forgot to call the function to 'fade back to normal'.

I've gotten it on Railjacks, but also outside of Railjacks. I don't know exactly when it occurs.

Is this black screen problem addressed in any of the fixes?

  3. Disclaimer
You can agree, disagree, post your variation of the ideas, expand on the ideas, improve the ideas on anything I'm about to list. I do not mind at all and I will appreciate if anyone wants to passionately spar ideas with me or other fellow commentators.

    Story time
So I'm getting a general gist of what Warframe is and what it should be. Most of the game hints you at it, but I think now at over 1000 hours in the game there have always something that has been bugging me. The major disconnect of what we're supposed to be seeing vs. what we're seeing. These ideas expand on the ambition of Railjack, but before that goes where it needs to go, I suggest we take a step back. It will also touch on the NewPlayerExperience™, but from a different direction and perspective.

    Let the ideas flow
So what am I talking about here? In case if you have been playing the game for a long time, you know this game features your own Orbiter, has loading screens with flying spacecrafts and extraction by spacecrafts, solar rail systems being unlocked and now even features Railjack with space battles and high speed travel.

I was thinking how awesome it would be if in the future there are new solar systems that you can only travel to by Railjack (preferably a fleet of Railjacks, when tech allows it or some smart engineering is done), bringing both newbies and NPC civilians. No fast travel, which is the key part here. It would be a great responsibility and an awesome experience. Making refill stops along the way (small populated hubs?) and is essentially one big repeatable mission. It would add that sense of scale and gives Railjack a good integrated reason for existence. This idea doesn't come out of the blue, but rather than I tried to understand how awesome the flotilla in Scarlet Spear was but I don't think many could see the vision. I think also because of the lack of development time, the final touches were skipped. Did you know the Railjack actually flies to a visible flotilla, which is a dock for multiple Railjacks? You can only see it from the pilot view for a very very short moment. It's a spacestation, with consoles to send support to the ground squad and the space squad. That sense of scale wasn't there because you couldn't see Railjacks docking and Lisets deploying.

But then it hit me. Current Warframe is already a huge scale with it's current solar system. But you just don't feel it, from the moment you start playing. Due to all the conveniences, the game is more like an Orbiter home with a bunch of nodes placed randomly on planetary balls. But that's not how Warframe begins.

    The beginning
You start off as a lone tenno on a planet trying to get your ship. It needs to be emphasized that when you're flying away from a node, that you start orbiting around the planet.

    • Suggestion 1: the loading screens need the planet as a backdrop with minor ascending and descending scrolling. When done loading, the camera should actually pan to the back to the Orbiter and zoom in on it. Add the final touch of a seamless transition, because the nodes themselves already have Lisets flying to it and landing. The same panning will also work for extracting and being back in your Orbiter.

    Less is more
It's nice and easy to select a Sedna node and then an Earth node. But unfortunately it makes the entire solar system feel just like a series of random nodes on random planets. We have unlocked Solar Rails for a reason, which is a fast travel path to other planets. One thing I think Railjack has shown perfectly is how travel effects improve on the sense of scale. Did you know that the planet you're last on is in front of your Orbiter, most of the time?

    • Suggestion 2: since it's an orbiter, don't show the planet in front of Liset as one big ball, but rather as something you orbit around. So more of a spacestation kind of view, than staring at a planet like you're going to crash into it.
    • Suggestion 3: you can only fast travel to nodes on the planet you're on. Just like currently, when you view the star chart, you'll see it zoomed in on the planet you're on. But, you have to zoom out to see the other planets... and you can't see the nodes of other planets. I know, it's a downgrade, but hear me out. You select the planet you want to go to and you will see your Liset make use of the Solar Rail system. The planet in front of you will be tilted away, You'll get the fast travel animation like in Railjack. And then you end up with the planet you've chosen as the new backdrop. Afterwards you can select the nodes from there. To top this idea off... add this in as default and add a 'legacy travel' as a setting to avoid any backlash. Win-win for everyone.

    The future
We all know Railjack has massive potential but in what way? I'm going to paint a picture and I don't think I'm far off from the vision of DE. The earlier suggestions are some little touches to prelude what the world of Warframe can be. The planets we're choosing from are our solar system. Earlier I also shared an idea of traveling with Railjacks to other solar systems. We can call these travel or expedition missions, with farmable rewards off their own. It can even include people queuing up to be transferable passengers before they log off and allowing Railjack players to 'bring them along' for the next time they log on. When they log back on they should get the message of "You've been safely transported by X". Big zoomy fading titles lke "Stellar - Alpha Centauri" and your Orbiter hovering on some sensible starting point, like a space station (which the Railjack had to transport you to). It gives a whole new meaning to taxi'ing someone, doesn't it?

Imagine when there are multiple solar systems this way, with some travels being much harder. Some might even last an hour. Perhaps there is a mini stop along the way, a space station with it's own NPCs and things to offer. Seeing other Railjacks flying. A fleet of Railjacks working together to conquer a difficult journey to get to an exquisite solar system. Discovering new planets and finding a blooming planets with their own civilizations, not unlike Cetus or Fortuna. Their own culture and their own things to farm. An isolated island suddenly makes more sense this way, doesn't it? Because you basically 'live' there for a while and it's special.

    Too long, didn't read
I think the future of Warframe could be mind-blowing if the final touches to scale is added to the game. It's missing that final oomph and the current userbase cannot see the scale. I have to try hard to see what DE is trying to paint, but in practice it's not quite there yet. Railjack is a good starting attempt to paint that picture more vividly. Railjack is not a space battle simulator, it's much more than that. Coincidentally, by adding some touches to scale, a lot of player confusion is actually reduced. The reason why things are confusing, especially for new players, is because everything is so easily accessible and fast warp-able. This can be nice for efficient players, which most Warframe veterans are because we kept playing so we're capable, but it doesn't quite make sense. A few animation and graphic tricks can help a long way. The main goal is reducing the disconnect from the world that's being portrait.

    Note
Now this is just a fun note. I recommend checking out the anime "Astra, Lost in Space" if you want to get a feeling of scale and how it would work perfectly for Warframe. It's an anime about traveling in space.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. I feel completely detached from most popular opinions on the Warframe subreddit. I don't feel comfortable with most of those representing a player like me.

    - I have a Lich that's more than 2 months old, because I don't actively grind the heck out of it... like it should be?
    - I'm enjoying Scarlet Spear very much. The rewards are nice, but it's just a means to get people to play and the gameplay is varied and fun and interactive. I'm making a lot friends while doing this event.

I'm also quite done with giving people the excuse of 'they criticize because they are passionate'. No, not when 99% of everything is done right and 1% is done wrong, people always focus on that 1%. As a human being, I just cannot excuse such negative behavior and I wouldn't want to be around these kind of people in real life either.

The only place I can find people just talking about the game and having fun is on a specific forum, which is not this one nor is it Reddit, where we can discuss builds, help people and celebrate new farmed stuff. Like it should be.

    A super simple example:
Do I mind Stance Forma? No, because I can just ... not get it? Done. Bam. No one killed my dog or ruined my life. Any other reaction and I can't help but think "What's wrong with you?".

I feel like the in-game community is nothing like the forum or YouTube community. The people in-game are the real people actively playing the game. Like damn, I want them to stop but I don't think they ever will. Nothing is ever good enough. At some points I think people are just using bots to spread negativity. It isn't even reality, just some surreality where everything is bad.

Had to get that off my chest.

  5. Hi DE,

Love the game, been playing it for quite a while on Nintendo Switch. I've made some good friends there, but there always has been a hurdle of communication. The more chatty the person, the more we're stuck with the full on-screen keyboard and slow typing. Thus most people try not to chat as much as possible. I was talking with one of these friends how the lack of social interactions hurts all of us in the long run.

Several times I've invited people to Discord, exchanged usernames just to be able to chat normally. In case of no headsets, even an external third party app just to chat was easier to use while playing the game, than actually in-game.

You've done a great job with the current implementation and even support headsets on Switch. However, I was brainstorming and I said to my friend: Wouldn't it be nice if Warframe had a similar phone app like Animal Crossing where you can type on your mobile and see your message in-game?

Then... I remembered the Warframe app does allow chatting with people in-game. But there are limitations, so I booted it up to test it.
    1. It let's you talk in clan and to your friends (though lack of any tabs makes switching hard and switching back to clan chat impossible)
    2. While logged in app, you can't progress or see chat anymore (basically as good as logged out in-game, while seeing in-game assets)

The chat tech... is there. You can type on mobile, to communicate with someone in-game. It just lacks a few final touches to be functional. So my pitch:

Warframe Chat app (or whatever name), that mirrors the in-game chat of the game. Same style, same front, same tabs, same PMs.
Value 1: keeping players engaged even when not playing, like reading clan chat. Better retention.
Value 2: allowing people to ask friends if they feel like playing without third party apps / third party friend lists, thus more activity. Better retention and possibly even growth in user base.
Value 3: console players can use this to chat (not everyone has a wireless keyboard, and even with wireless keyboards the full-screen keyboard gets in the way). Thus will tremendously boost social interactions on all console platforms, retaining and regaining a lot of players. Better retention and very likely growth in user base (brings consoles much closer to the social aspect of the PC version).

    Question: Why a separate app?
The current app is a highly functioning one, but that means it's also forced to lock people out of progress, making it impossible to be a 'chat companion'. The current app also disables in-game chat if logged in at the same time because of this, so what is there now doesn't fit this idea.

    Question: Won't this be hard?
From my testing and understanding what is happening in the background, the tech is basically already there, isn't it? You can already communicate to each platform with a mobile app and you already have the authentication and linking correct. It's just that the current app does a lot more, forcing the described functionality to be impossible to be implemented in the current chat system of the mobile app.

The Minimal Viable Product could even be just the current friend & clan chat system from the main app, but as a separate app that doesn't log you out in-game.
Then milestones ranging from almost Must Haves to Nice To Haves would be:
    - Squad chat (probably the most important use for console players)
    - Offline notifications (this enables things like invitations to play)
    - Remaining chats (relay chat, trading chat, global chat, all will highly increase interactions especially on consoles). Though linking stuff will probably not be a thing done from the app.

Imagine a world where we can have this, running alongside while playing the game (or even when not playing the game):
    6SD8vxA.png

You could even go ham on the naming. Warframe Life Link, Warframe Transcendence, Warframe Reflection, etc. The world is endless!

If you can make something like this happen, I'll go to your next Tennocon and personally thank you... :')

WOOOOH!! I am not ready for this at all!

Like, literally, for me. I don't want to farm 6 million credits, sniff. Even when I get credit boosters I can do index at most once a day. I don't want to farm like a zombie 😧

Thanks for the update Helen 🙂

    "For Railjack Missions"

    The rest will work fine.

Don't Railjack Missions consist of multiple parts (like walking around in the ship, flying into enemy base, archwing, etc.)? I think the question was whether motion controls are only not implemented for controlling the Railjack and everything else works as it does now for normal missions, or whether the entirety of motion controls is inactive the moment you start a Railjack mission.

I HATE YOU GUYS!! Yesterday you kept me awake during the Game Awards (they started at 2.30 am on my country) to see the announcement. Today you launch Rising Tide at 10.15 pm on my country and it is a 2 hr download. How do you expect me to sleep today again if I need to start the dojo room, redecorate my orbiter, buy Equinox deluxe bundle and try to grab some Thumpers with the itzal rip line? 😂

I hate you. I've been downloading since red text... it's at 75% now. 😞

I’m just sad I didn’t get to play it on my birthday on the 28th on switch, kinda bummed out that is still going to be some time, but I’ve done all my research from videos and got almost everything I need to build the ship the only thing I don’t have is the crystals cuz they are no good after a bit of time, and the credits I have enough to get everything up to second rail jack part, 2,185,000. Just hope you put more events or things up to help the credit grind for us.

It's not the Rising Tide update so there's no ship.

So far I'm also very upset and annoyed at the fact that it's been almost a month since the update was announced and sent to cert, let alone the very post that says that now it's aimed for next week. But at the same time I don't feel so bad about it because I still have many things to do (including thoses non-impacful ones like somachord farming/orbiter decoration collecting/plat farming/etc) even tho I myself migrated my account from PC to Switch (I still don't regret it despite the lower framerate and issues since it's the only way I can play Warframe rn). However, bashing DE for something that is out of their hands isn't; and will never be, the answer. They've already done everything in their hands to deliver the update with as much content as possible (incluing the .0.8 fixes and changes, which WASN'T included in the original shipping of the update) against all odds (@Nintendo) to make sure we're on par with PS4 & XB1... waiting won't kill us. Mo matter how frustrating it gets, there's always a better way to drain that anger, be it through other games or just doing something else altogether with our time.

It's absolutely awesome that we're getting 26.0.8, which is including the crit changes and lich fixes. Most people have probably missed that though. Including me, haha. Sharp eye!

They also said they would do a post mortem once it's all done (in the last stream), so we will be getting the answers. Maybe that will answer your questions for now.

We’re targeting the release of The Old Blood: Update 26.0.8 for next week! We want to continue making sure Nintendo Switch Tenno can participate in the Prime Vault while we patiently await the Cert process, so two new Prime Vault Alerts are coming to Nintendo Switch this weekend:

Fragor Prime Blueprint & Akstilleto Prime Blueprint will be available in Alerts on Friday, December 6 @ 2:00 PM ET - Monday, December 9 @ 2PM ET

We’re looking forward to sharing the update with you! Expect an announcement here as soon as we’re ready to launch.

Thanks for the update, Helen. Appreciated 🙂

my clan of over 1000+ is loaded w/players MR20 and over. Most are eagerly awaiting this update and the "doomsday" concern is all over switch chats. So your 90% percent claim is probably false. Most started at launch, which they are probably pretty deep in the game. It doesn't quite matter how far along you are anyway. My concern isnt a delay in an update, but a fear that this might turn into no more future updates at all. If future updates are not gonna happen, why would you continue to play the game if you know you can never access all of it. People, like myself, will resort to playing on their other consoles.

1000+ players huh? Max clan size is 1000 players.

  12. Hey, I remember you guys saying you *think* you found the issue on this occurring, but didn't seem too sure (trying to debug something that's random is difficult). So just to be sure, I got one of the better flickers and recorded a video of it. If you're still looking for more clues, here's a video where you can see quite precisely what textures are swapping around. Since I don't personally work on the game I don't recognize what textures these are, but you might 😅

(This is not a shaky cam, but me trying to tilt the Switch gyro to move the camera because it flickers more and faster when you are in movement and look around)

Might want to stop talking until you know what the issue is. People are not quitting they are worried there will be no future updates due to the lack of Nintendos foresight with the SD cards. They have pulled this BS before on the Wii U.

Read your first sentence. Then read your second sentence. Then read your first sentence. Then read your second sentence. Do you see the irony of your post?

Thanks for the heads up, I hope you guys are enjoying your holidays.

I appreciate the gifts you guys are giving but at the same time i feel a little guilty that a portion of the community is taking these delays so hard and demanding that which cannot be given. I cant help but feel it makes our community appear needy.

Its a tough spot you guys at DE find yourselves in. Hopefully things will smooth out and this unfortunate delays will fade into memory.

Displeased fans post more often. If you look at the total usernames, there's more than enough appreciation. If you look at who are posting (unreasonable) not positive feedback, it's not that many people.

I'd say they are too passionate for their own good. But DE still listens to everyone and that makes them great. Of course, in the end there will always be a percentage left that won't be satisfied. But I do think DE is doing their best to unite as reasonable as possible, without completely killing their business model. even in these situations that they can't really predict.

Though I personally still think that some people don't realize how unrealistic they are. A headline like this would put things in perspective. Imagine a YouTube thumbnail looking like this:

AFTER 1000 HOURS, I QUIT BECAUSE AN UPDATE I LOOK FORWARD TO WAS DELAYED BY 2 WEEKS!

    ....

I don't have answers for people who feel like this. I'd say "Chill, relax, it's gonna be okay", not just for this situation, but in general as life advice because that makes oneself and everyone around oneself happier. I personally don't want the playerbase to feel bad, nor do I want DE to feel bad. We can do this waiting together. We all lift together.
