    Depth of Field, Bloom, Depth of Field, and Ambient Occlusion effects can also be optimized. There was paper by Adrian Courrèges which details optimized version of those effects running on Nintendo Switch, some even implemented in Dragon Quest XI for the same system. Local reflections shouldn't be an issue by downscaling screen space reflections, but the currently casted shadows are too low resolution to look good without any proper filtering. (I'm sure low-res soft-shadows would be more preferable.) Volumetric lighting is a little bit tricky, but some developers have implemented it on the system like Crytek and their Crysis Remastered Trilogy (on Switch) using Sparse Voxel Global Illumination (SVoGI).

    DRS is pretty noticable in Whispers of the Wall in the  new hub area with Loid, you can notice the pixel crawl on the stair steps, maybe it is back.

    That's one of the speculation floating out there but it doesn't make a lot of sense. frankly once plat is bought and Nintendo or any platform holder takes their 30% or whatever cut of the purchase price from their store, they are no longer in the pictur. The platinum in our accounts is on DE servers under our profiles, Nintendo has nothing to do with it. I don't think this is it. IIRC, certain other F2P games with crossplay had shared economies with other platforms, (Paladins?) so it can't be the eshop.

  3. It is a bit weird Switch plat ecosystem is being singled out.  It sounds like there's a concern platinum from Switch users will somehow unbalance the rest of the warframe economy. I've only ever played on Switch, but there's a lot of speculation around why we are being left out, which i won't repeat here/

    I asked this in the Devstream 175 thread if we could get some visibility on reasons why this is happening and if there will be a roadmap to eventually merge Switch plat into the rest of the economy.

    I traded for/bought all my Plat, usually via similar/the same packs/bundles available to all platforms, so it certainly felt like i am not swimming in plat and the prices of the plat earned were in-line with warframe market prices on other platforms.

There's a lot of speculation on reddit and elsewhere, but can there be some more visibility on why platinum earned/purchased by Switch players is being singled out as non tradeable and not available for shared wallet in a merged account? Will there be a roadmap to eventually merge us with the rest of the economy?

    Your game was so good looking before the update and a great achievement on Switch. Do you rember those light fogs on the grineer ships and on Deimos? Some graphics

    look sharper but dont compensate the visual wonder on the Switch. The light fogs were soo good. Bring us our Warframe back we loved. Something is missing here.

    What have you done??????? Look how beautifull your game was before on Switch!!!! I am missing it a lot, bring the above options back agains please and make Warframe on Switch great again. Now the real atmosphere is missing on Deimos and the tunnels light are so bad. 

    I am sure you understand us Switch players.

    I have the impression I am no more playing the same game but yes some graphics look sharper.

    I do hope they bring back some of the effects, but the comparison you posted isn't very representative of the improvements from the next-gen engine since it's in the orbiter with no much going on.

    The resolution bump over the old engine is significant, makes open world areas like Plains of Eidolon, Duviri, Cambion Drift etc. look tolerate now instead of constantly juddering from dynamic resolution scaling down to the lowest values and very blurry with high level of visual artifacting from whatever filter was being used to hide the low resolution.  The game just looks much sharper in all aspects even on smaller scale tilesets.

    I'm a bit torn, but definately lean towards liking the new engine more.

  6. Plains of Eidolon looks much much better after this upgrade, and also the puddles of water in the tilesets and the open world is much improved.

    I haven't really been noticing the choppiness from lack of motion blur people have complained about, fps is pretty consistent when i did my sortie run this morning, but i wouldn't mind it being added back in.

    Again hope we can get some of the cut visual effects re-added back in.

  7. I was going to say that I quite like the increased visual fidelity (playing whicle docked) after the new update. the colors pop and it doesn't have the slightly washed out look.

    That said, I do miss the motion blur and DOF when zooming in.

    I think these new settings will grow on people, especially the resolution bump (unless its some sort of magic reconstruction, but i can tell its a lot more clean docked) I also do hope that over time, some effects can be added back into the game, like the old engine didn't start out with volumetric lighting , and was missing lots of reflections originally.

    Question: Is this to prep for the Switch 2 build of Warframe? :)

  8. I'm using Nintendo branded/Switch branded Sandisk cards. They 128 and 256 GB variants are pretty common and not too expensive. This is one component you wouldn't want to cheap out on, and I've always had Warframe installed via SD since day 1 in 2018.  The load times are a tad longer (i'll notice some squad members loading much faster) but not significantly so.

    What's wrong with the current build? Hydron had weird disappearing cieling segments for LOD that was fixed and I noticed they added reflection maps on a lot of surfaces that used to be plain and I've not had serious performance issues on missions and sorties.

    As above grass is back in on PoE 😛

     

  10. You many have the offline bug. Is everyone In your clan/friends list showing up as offline?

     

    You probably can't invite or be invited as well and will show as offline to them.

    Only  thing you can do is sit on a busy mission and hope a team forms around you. The offline bug still allows you to host

    Yeah I have the same quirk you can keep logging in an eventually you'll get a good session, but it's very chansey and seems to work best on off peak times (mornings, weekdays and not fri to sun) 

    But It's too much work and puts too much stress on my Switch so I stopped.   My suggestion is if you feel like doing multiplayer use your mobile phone and hotspot a few hours of play a day if you have  data cap.  If you have unlimited data, even better

    Then do.the solo stuff on your home connection

    Best bet is to hotspot your Switch wifi via a phone and use your phone data for some of your play sessions

    I've had the same issue and DE support eventually just gave up on me.  I'm  convinced its certain isp/connections not playing nice with DEs matchmaking server and they either can't figure out the issue or can't fix it easily

    If you read between the lines of the patch notes, Im guessing memory, they gave notice that the game will soon exceed the capacity of the Switch's internal storage, so either they are trying to do another cleanup to get the filesize back down or just want to give the people still playing without SD time to migrate the download to a card.

    Coincidentally Switch firmware 10.0 now allows people to transfer game data between the internal and SD storage.

  14. Yeah there's also the quite common 'off line bug' where players can host , cannot join open squads, will appear offline and see everyone in their FL and clan list as offline. Look at how many 'invite bug' posts there are.

     

    I don't know what's going on because I am not the only one experiencing this, even though DE's customer support (not the devs but the people handling the tickets) were quite rude to me and eventually told me to get a VPN and said it was my problem.  

    I also want to tell DE this but this doesn't look like it's a small scale problem but it appears a lot of Switch players are playing unknowing they have this offline bug issue because the game can be quite solo friendly and you can sit in a busy node like Hydron, or the rotation relic farming nodes and still host your own parties just fine.  .   The reason I wanted to highlight this is that I responded to a trade shout the other day and the player clearly had the offline bug  when I tried inviting him and we ended up trading in Maroos.  The guy did not know he had the issue and I was too heartbroken  to tell him he had the issue because no fix is in sight. It might just drive him away.

    The only way I've been getting around this bug to trade and matchmake decently and earn some credits for Scarlet Spear (when I don't feel like chancing it as host and going it solo is playing with my mobile data via hotspot tethering.  But my mobile data is not unlimited and I have to ration how much of it I use.

     

    DE needs to be aware of the following things

    1) their ticket based customer support is actively blaming customers and suggesting people spend even more money on VPNs (I was given a russian VPN to subscribe to, which i found odd)

    2) while there are 1 or 2 new posts complaining about off line bug and many other repeat posters like myself actively monitoring the issue, doesn't mean the issue is small.  I think a large minority of casual Switch players also have the issue but simply isn't aware it exists. This is why I sometimes hear off-base comments like 'Warframe Switch is dead, can't find anyone to play with'.  Because yeah, those with offline bug can't join any open squads and see anyone in their friendlist or clanlist online, so it does look like a dead game.

     

     

     

  15. Is this mod (untraceable )  suppose to stack and add 15s to existing invisibility timer or does it merely grant 15s invisibility while not invisible?
    I tried hacking consoles in the Kuva Fortress with and without ciphers and on both types of attempts my invisibility timer did not refresh.
    On Switch.
     
     I noted the hotfix to fix the refresh issue was done in 2019 for PC, we ought to be caught up right?
     
    Edit: nevermind! it's a separate buff! I guess not as useful as I had hoped but it guarantees 15s invisibility after every successful hack, so could come in handy still even on frames with invisibility as we won't have to hide away in a corner waiting for our timer to countdown to refresh, we can refresh invisibility separately while the mod buff timer is running down.
  16. Here's another weirdness. Logged in to an off-line bug, yeah, expected since that is the status quo log-in state I see unless I am using my phone for a hotspot, then jumped into Scarlet Spear to farm some solo credits with 1 hr left.

    As expected, game wouldn't match me to existing ground teams, so I went down solo, farmed around 1,400 scarlet credits, extracted. Hopped out of the relay and lo and behold, my friend list is working and I spent the rest of the night matchmaking fine

    This is all in one session.  I've had intermittent good connections before but it just required me to reload/load Warframe many many times and hope I get a good one. This is the firm time my connection went from bad (offline) to good in the same ssion.  I assume moving in and out of the scarlet spear relays/instances may have counted towards resetting my connection.

    It really does feel like something is up on DE's end.

    Yep, still broken for me as well. I had such high hopes too 😞 I hope they will fix it eventually. I'm just burning mobile data for now to get around this since I'm stuck at home and my data isn't being used. That said, I don't have an unlimited plan and at some point that data will run out.

     

    I do want to say, it seems like the hotfixes yesterday fixed the kill code issue as I've had no issue with killcodes today and last night.

    Scarlet Spear, for all its faults, is a very nice thing for console users, especiually Switch users who had to deal with smaller user bases and lack of patience from players to help newer players kill Eidolons.  Finally getting access to arcanes with some grinding is nice as many of them aren't even listed for sale on warframe.market and are rarely in shouts in trade chat.
