  1. Companion "abilities" are often a determining factor in their survivability. You can't really evaluate one without the other. Smeeta going invisible and throwing out decoys, Moas granting themselves Hildryn amounts of shields and 60% DR, Hounds literally turning invincible and creating several small proxies, Vulpaphyla's reviving themselves endlessly? Those are all abilities of those specific companions that directly relate to survivability. So good luck separating the two. Of course, those are mods specific to a given companion, and there are several more that are more universal. But I digress. If you want to use a companion with abilities you find "interesting" in high level content, and it has poor survivability, then use a Warframe that fixes that issue. If you don't want to do that either then accept that you're making poor loadout choices. It's not a problem with the system when the system gives you several easy ways to make it work and you choose none of them.
  2. Disagree. It's no different from picking the appropriate weapons or frames for the mission. You wanna use something with low innate survivability, build around that. If you want something that can hold it's own regardless of frame there are several options.
  3. Pretty good. I throw it on a few frames that can spawn health orbs quickly, cheaply and reliably. Nezha, Citrine, Voruna, and Nekros love it. Also throw it on frames when I don't really have anything better to put in that slot, but the Frame itself is one I'd use in endless missions anyway.
  4. No, the Prelate or whatever on Deimos annoys me more off the top of my head.
  5. The rewards are good if you actually want to make your Arcwings/guns/melee better. That makes no sense whatsoever. At an absolute base level Companions are good for vacuum and radar, nice QoL benefits(the former of which is considered mandatory by the majority of the player base). Then we get into specific abilities like the Smeeta as the loot companion and Vulpaphyla as your undead viral spreader. And further into specific synergies like a Vasca with Titania, or that shield restoring Kubrow with Hildryn. And let's not forget Synth Deconstruct/Fiber on a companion while the Frame runs Equilibrium. I struggle with where to start with this one because by the void this is an absurdly bad take. Alright, this is all off the top of my head. First, lets start with Eidolons. Eidolons drop a long list of Arcanes, several of which are extremely potent. They also drop mods of varying value and usefulness. You literally need your Operator or Drifter to take down their shields. Gonna let someone else do it for you? THEY still need an Operator or Drifter. It's literally required for one to get Arcanes like high rank Energize without spending tons of plat or getting the one Nora hands out every other Nightwave. Orphix is also an option, but that requires Operator/Drifter. And Railjack. And a Necramech. You want Wisp? Gotta slay the Ropalolyst. Guess what you need for that? That's just farming though. Let's look at what Op/Dr can directly add to your kit. Want more Power Strength and damage? Madurai has you covered. Want more Energy, Power Strength, and CC? Zenurik. You like melee and high combo shenanigans? Naramon. Want more tools to protect & heal the defense target, your Frame, and your squad, while having some CC? Vazarin. Want to literally never die, ever, with any frame while fully stripping all armor and shields? Unairu. I think I've made my point clear, but allow me to say something else. I don't think you know what a "content island" is.
  6. Not what I had in mind when I read the title, but I can get behind this.
  7. I've been trying to breed the last two Kubrows I need lately, so I've been unable to use any of my organic pets for the last few days. I've had very few issues running Helios or my Moa, and I play Steel Path almost exclusively. Obviously there are warframes, like Wisp or Gara, that can grant any companion some serious survivability. Add in one or two Synth mods and you can keep it solidly armored. Add in a Verglas and it will actually murder Steel Path enemies with great prejudice. But when not using a Frame that can keep a fragile Sentinel up in high level content, using a companion that can keep itself up is a solid alternative. My Moa is rocking two Moa specific mods, one that regular gives it 3000 Overshields, another that creates a barrier around it that slows enemy projectiles significantly and reduces their damage by 60%. Combined with the Synth mods and Link Health, the little guy holds his own quite well. In my experience, companions in their current state can do perfectly fine in Steel Path if you pick the right one to complement your frame.
