    If you have no clue, then you jump into another mission, and another, and another, until you know what you need. This is fundamental in order to get a grasp of the modding mechanic, since you mod to suit your gameplay, you don't copy and you certainly don't ask for builds.

    the thing is warframe gives you really 0 direction, so it can be unapproachable as hell for a new player, especially one not playing with others or being guided by new objectives to play with others. 

    ive been helping out a lot of new players lately and ive noticed this, they kind of get burnt out because doing the star chart and random missions with no real idea what to "farm for" or groupign with players is just... boring.

    Honestly the new player exp in warframe is S#&$. the game isn't fun untill you get into the flow, and getting there is hard.

    my best recomemndation for you OP is to look at something like a repository of videos on weapons and frames, such as https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcNx8bZxg_EgRrTY_Oi8utA?view_as=subscriber, courtesy of https://www.cephalonwannab.com/'s list of weapons. take the "rankings" with a grain of salt. For warframes, look at the warframe list on the wiki https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Warframes see if something sticks out for you. this will help you discover the variety in the game and make goals.also like i said, playing with others is a huge help. i dont know if theres a "what is right for you" guide out there.

    it took me a while to learn my "playstyle' in wf, but for me its basically supportive caster frames with weapons that allow me to make the most out of warframes amazing movement system, so i like big aoe weapons like simulor (i miss you bb), arca plasmor and precision weapons because i've always enjoyed sniping, i find myself having the most fun playing wf when im speeding through a mission as fast as i can with out ever even seeing the mobs i kill, so i tend to play maglev + bullet jump modded high mobility trinity hybrid + clear weapons. for me its fun as #*!%, and my favorite weapons and frames are anything that compliment that. so i really enjoy mirage for more dakka, khora for more enemy/loot radar and i love kavats,  and strangledome on a lot of mobs makes aoe weapons easy to clear with. 

    top frames: trinity, khora, ivara, mirage

    top weapons: dokhram arca plasmor, opticor, gaze

    asthetic is a huge deal for me in wf so i also generally pick things that compliment what i like, asthetically. 

    this probably isnt helpful but what im tryin to get at is i just kept trying S#&$ untill things stuck, when i started this game i was a snipetron/braton/soma user, and i only played trinity/volt, so even when i started  i kind of had a rough idea of how i enjoyed playing the game.

    so here is an example, im completley alone, im running concurrent traceroutes and pingtests to: google dns, google portal, (both dallas), amazon's webservice (san fransico). as this happened i had 0 hiccups to any of these locations, i had 0 hiccups or packet loss to my router, or my dns server. name resolution works, traffic works. but what do you know? im monitoring 192.184.13.46 and just like magic the target node dropped 30 packets concecutively.

    if you lack the "RUNAS" command which used to be standard but not always is, you can download it from microsoft and other sources, just slap it in your system32 folder, each instance of warframe (or any other game) should have their own shortcut, then just launch then 1 at a time, in warframes case, making sure each instance of warframe is set to use different UDP ports.

    Yeah - i just did not know warframe used windows user data to store its session info, that's very strange  but it's good to know, i might make a few new accounts lol.

    so a few things that kind of rules this out

    one: i've gotten constant "network not responding errors" in solo games while running pingtests elsewhere that had no hiccups.

    two: i have net monitoring tools that i use to run pingtests to my peers when playing, which are often very stable

    three: a player im connecting to having a hiccup while the gameserver is stable would affect them, not me as a host.

    four: T3 nodes will often show packetloss like that as they block pings but continue to route traffic - if they did not they would be very vulnerable to large scale dosing, thats why #8, 9, and 10 are not always the sum of previous PL, so there's no actual "issue" with the node, you can ping it yourself to test

    you can easily see that this node blocks tracert packets but continues to function well and route them correctly, if it was a simple issue of traffic not being routed, i could and would happily change my DNS server to fix the issue, sadly that isn't the case

    Group convinces me to alt f4 so i do

    come back and i get 0 loot, nothing in mail, goodbye ducats and my relics were gone too.

    This keeps happening to me...

    i've tested my internet and my connection to the peers ingame and various stable servers, it's flawless. but sure enough i test the connection to the warframe general server and well...

    Dont port forward, just open ports ABC, DEF for 1 UDP range, then open ports GHI, JKL for the other UDP range, its that easy, you dont have to touch TCP at all, also typically if there is a UPNP option, usually having that on in your router as default means you dont have to open ports manually, your router should open them when they are requested.

     

    bit of a topic change but how do you run multiple warframe instances? i assume the multiple shortcuts are ran as different window users with permissions set up? otherwise WF gives a session error when you try to log into a second account in a new instance on the same machine 

  8. after forwarding the ports and having UPNP, im still having the gamebreaking bugs.

    Look at this bull. - this has happened twice in the last two days, i dont understand how to fix it... I am running pingtests, network stability tests, have 0% packetloss to several key DNS routing servers including googles dns (8.8.8.8). and to warframes auth server, so what the #*!% is happening here?

    Here's a pingtest showing 0 packetloss to google's portal (google.com's resolution) This test has gone 20k packets with out ONE lost over an entire day.

    i explicitly stated that i set up UDP forwarding properly with both machines, but TCP ports cannot be changed via ingame settings.

    Are you including forwarding ports 6695-6699 to MULTIPLE MACHINES? because again. that is not physically possible, that literally is not how port forwarding works, what port forwarding does is it FORWARDS traffic inbound on a network to a specific local machine, allowing NAT enabled networks to not have overlap.

  10. i KNOW this has probably been reported 10000000000000 times, as this issue has been infuratingly common for the last THREE YEARS. 😞

    steps to reproduce: play any excavation it'll happen 100% of the time after about 2-4 rotations

     you can *NOT* forward ports to two seperate machines on a local network, that is not how port forwarding works, i did do the UDP though which might fix the issue, so thank you for helping me with that part, but TCP is not changable :/ im hoping upnp will pick up the slack

    OH i see you can change warframes specific port it used then forward ranges differently, okay this helps completley, i did not know warframe had that option in-game. thanks, can close this thread then

    also i read through that website's "guide" and it really doesn't provide any further info sadly, i did not know there was in-game settings for udp ports, this is very helpful, thank you

  13. edit: UDP sorted, but "THE TCP PORT RANGE 6695 - 6699" still cannot be forwarded to multiple machines but i don't believe that's the issue anymore. as best as i can tell, warframe's servers have lost all stability

    second edit: i was completley unaware that i could change the UDP ports ingame, this fixed the initial issue i had

    me and my SO (we live together, and thus are on the same network) both play warframe reguarly, and together, and our connections have always been an absolute nightmare for the last few days. NAT is an inherent requirement due to us being on the same network, the solution given to players to "forward your ports" is ineffectual for us. forwarding ports can ONLY be done to one internal IP address, as that's literally what port forwarding is. so how can i get random disconnections to stop happening?

    so what recourse do i have? if i set up a port trigger i need to understand how to do that, i've spent hours lookign at guides but none really explicitly state how to delineate the difference between the inbount trigger and outbound range, there is literally 0 information available on any warframe resource i can find.

    says "open these ports" but how can i do that on multiple devices?? a port trigger requires a specific port to trigger on AND a protocol open range, those are different things.. is there any comprehensive guide to being able to actually play warframe with more than one computer on the same network? please... im desperate and tired of the game being unplayable

  14. sadly it doesnt, i find controllers far more painful to use than a m&k, i actually bought a xim so i could play horizon zero dawn a while back, because i couldnt play for longer than 20 minutes with out pain lol

    i just don't see the logic behind this "improvement" DE has made, it's made every concieveable form of play require more inputs and not in a immersive way, having to retoggle everything over and over is so annoying im considering handing my zaw over to hok permanently. like the only thing left untouched by this is maiming strike blending builds which if i recall was the one thing DE didn't want...

    im sure even with a controller mining is still hell, though.

    you come across a 3 node ore vein, start mining it, get attacked, finish it, go melee the person attacking you, have to switch BACK to your mining laser, start antoher one, get attacked by a mob that somehow spawned right infront of you, have to switch BACK again. like mining actively makes me angry now lol - and dont get me started on trying to farm simaris rep after you do his daily, you used to be able to like bring ivara into a mission, scan a mob, melee it, scan another mob, etc. now you have to re requip your scanner after EVERY DAMN SWING. thats right .. i have to re-requip my scanner over 300 times in a rep run.. really?? 

    want to bullet glide while melee is out? too bad. use a block combo then attack and use a pause combo? too bad, pausing caused the game to EQUIP YOUR PRIMARY FOR ABSOLTUELY NO REASON... ugh... how has this not been fixed..

  15. so i have a bad wrist and spamming thumb keys on my mouse, mmb or keys on keyboard is honestly exteremely painful for me. the old melee system caused no issues cause i could just switch out my melee weapon and attack and be fine.

     

    In the current system this is so broken and i cant even remotely get anything to work right. If i swing my melee, sure i can left click again for another swing (with the option on), but even on paper that's stupid, as you have to re "activate" your melee weapon every single combo. 

    if i try to bullet glide, im screwed because it changes out my primary weapon, so i have to click the thumb or keyboard again. what's especially henous is i cant even use the block combos on any stances, EVER. because right click during ANY portion of the combo ques an input to switch back to your primary... 

    whats worse is that if im mining or scanning a target and i melee, it equips my primary when its done... what the hell? why do i have to re-requip my scanner after EVERY SINGLE SCAN.

    this system is utterly broken and i'd pay 200$ to revert it. meleeing in any variety other than blending with control + click spam (which i cant easily do) is so much more tedious. so congrats on that i guess? you made every other playstyle of melee annoying to use except the one you intended to nerf?.... wtf..

    Like yeah this is me complaining but at the same time i just want to be able to equip my melee weapon and only use rmb + lmb and movement.. is that so much to ask? i got into warframe initially because the melee was fluid and sensible, and now i have an easier time playing blazblue than i do trying to melee in this game. doing scanning runs for simaris is off the table and even mining has become pretty uninteresting to me, just put it the way it was.. also if i have a datamass and i try to melee it drops it half the time for no freaking reason. i tried performing a block combo with tempo royale but every single time the combo finishes it brings out my primary weapon again.. which means i have to go back to using the melee button and not left click anyway.. so whats the point of this "option" is it there just to mock us?

    that is a "moderate" amount of bull. i've replied to join a "casual 3x3" and been told to kill myself because i tried to explain to the group that i had no way i knew of how to gather 8 lures an charge 2 by the time hydrolist's first limb breaks.

    like what? i know thats a extreme case with somone who had no idea how the fight works but still, every time i group for this S#&amp;&#036; i get too stressed to do it because of the absurd amount of intolerance people have for the slightest mistake, lures bugged and didnt spawn? "fk you" vombs arent where they normally are and you cant get a lure charged in 30 seconds? "reee" its just too stressful to deal with. id rather just buy my arcanes with plat :l

  17. using player determined market values to dictate "value" is a slippery slope and a bad faith arguement - by this logic everything in this game sucks because i could just go do rush missions and make 160 plat an hour and evertying else needs buffs because in an hour of that i could buy a maxed rank 10 mod so buff everything, its just not logical. i do agree with you that arbs are not worth the time, as vodyanoi gives more endo by a huge amount, and with the recent disruption nerf, even bounties give more. given the removal of all standard rewards, arb is actually worthless to do, not because of a lack of endo but because you can get other things WHILE getting more endo elsewhere. that's just bad design for a mode that is suppoed to be "endgame" and "high tier scaling". vodyanoi can be accessed by a mr2 with a nekros and nothing else, and there they can enjoy 25k endo an hour. Meanwhile arbs give half that.

     

    other solutions:

    have arbs maintain their standard rewards, similar to fissures - i like this idea the most.

    nerf vodyanoi and excavators. this would feel bad but probably make more consistency in play.

    have all arbitrations reward at set intervals that scale to the game mode, survival could be 5-7, defence 5-7, disruption 4, excavators 3, etc. while halving the rewards, to increase consistency

     

    The issue is not that 'we want more endo' its that arb is not even worth doing compared to content added in 2016.
