What is the reason for using your ultimate ability over regular melee weapons? You even proposed to get rid of the only advantage it had (waves). However, it still uses energy, has limited access to mods and can't do anything against ability-proof enemies. You will have it constantly deactivate What can really make Excalibur dominate in melee gameplay aspect is replacing his ultimate with ability that buffs any melee weapon you have. It will also get rid of annoyance regarding ability deactivations and ineffectiveness against certain enemy types.

Without the waves you'll need to pop the nullified with a gun. If I understand this correctly. Your buff wouldn't have the waves either. If you move close to the nullifier your buff would most likely disappear either way. Having a long range exalted melee may work on that scenario.

But let's be honest exalted blade would still have a hard time competing with regular melee. It needs energy, status immune enemies, ability immune enemies, energy leeches. Excal as I see him isn't in a very good place atm.

Compare Exalted Blade to Gram Prime or the Paracesis. With this regular melee weapons having access to blood rush and weeping wounds. They'll out damage, out crt, and ironically- out status exalted blade even with chromatic blade on.

  2. For a warrior his pretty fragile. He only beated valkyr in viability because of his exalted blade and blind. But now that neither exalted weapons are being used his basically a male valkyr and Visa versa.

Their 1 is use to travel, 2 is for cc or slow, and 4 is exalted weapon. Only difference now is Valkyr has a crap ton of armor. Give Valkyr Umbra's mod and watch her stare at the enemies firing at her. Her 3 gives her even more armor, while excal just has another cc, which his 2 can do much better anyways. So it's basically a redundant skill.

Also I can argue now that Valkyr's exalted weapon is better than excal. It has built in life steal, 50% crt chance and invincibility. Umbra's mods work a lot better on her than Umbra himself.

For me Excal has been demoted back to his old role on pre exalted blade Excal. Spam 2.

    Do I? 🤔

Be aware, the assumption that the community is one whole unit cuts both ways. Whether it’s against the community or for it, personally I’m not a fan of being spoken for by someone else with phrases like “The community feels a certain way”, because often I feel differently (and in some cases strive to play devil’s advocate).

In reference to whether I know what’s happening, the answer is “No, I don’t. I have only my thoughts on the matter.”. I see people simplify what’s going on as “Nerf” or “Buff” or “Greed” or “Losing touch”, but I know that everything is almost certainly more complex than initial impressions. And I could make speculations all I want, but the clearest way to find the answers I’d need to say one way or another is by asking the ones who took action.

Since I’m not about to one-on-one DE and learn their motivations, I’m relegated to holding to my own ideas and wondering if they’ll pan out, and am definitely not entitled to speak of the issues they may face or the driving forces behind their choices like they’re fact, because I don’t know what I don’t know.

    Fair point

    Attitude.

    Entiled, beligerent, self-over-hyped, unrealistic, Attitude.

It's not the idea posting about things that one wants changed or fixed, it's about the immature, elitist dribble spewn forth by rabid gamers that don't know how to communicate with people.

    Many call this Emotional IQ.

Negative feeds on negative, the lemmings follow the herd and naysayers are cosidered 'hip and with it', so here we are.

It's somehow the 'in' thing to be a $&*^ to game developers, which it literally biting the hands you want to build your house.

So yeah, IMO, it is totally the fault of the community.

"Entitled, Beligerent"- If your new to the community I can understand your point of view... however to give context. Try telling someone what they should fix over and over again just so you get ignored, or fix it in a way that'll infuriate you in another way. Yes I see that we don't own this game- it's DE's game. But we LOVED the game and we don't want DE killing it's own game. But with recent years you can probably tell with warframe partners abandoning warframe, playerbase plummeting to the ground, enraged remaining player base. The community isn't happy about what DE is doing.

Our argument before is "if you don't like the game then don't play it" which if you can tell, a lot of people are doing recently.

"Self-over-hyped"- Explain what you mean by this pls

"Unrealistic, Attitude"- If the community acted this way maybe 2-3 years ago? Maybe you can say that. However what's unrealistic is releasing a game mode in development for like idk at best maybe 10 months then release it to the public. IS unrealistic. THEN make move on to another event, release it while a deadly virus forces everyone in quarantine, IS UNREALISTIC.

Now attitude. Like said try telling someone what they should fix over and over again just so you get ignored, or fix it in a way that'll infuriate you in another way. It's like banging your head to brick wall expecting it be better. No, what attitude is, is hiring self righteous people in tumblr to go banning and just being an awful human being in general. Attack the community for letting DE know that their  "employee" is a self righteous hypocritical prick. Then only firing them after the back lash DE received. Then calling said backlash as a mob mentality. THAT IS ATTITUDE.

At this point I'm only staying at the game for my clan. But they have been slowly disappearing as well. Either way warframe is dying and DE can blame their simulacrum and partners all they want. But the community knows what's happening.

We all know the recent thing countless people are saying about DE, as we all know thier mistakes are somewhat the communities fault.

Ah yes it's our fault for criticising the game, telling DE what's broken, what sucks and how to fix it, just for them to ignore it unless money stops coming in, the player base is plummeting or the forums and reddit is on fire. That's some very DE thought of you. Are you one of the devs?

  6. It's not that it only works on high level enemies. They just don't work on corpses. They have to be alive for a bit to heal. So if you one hit them then you are going to die with them with excalibur's sub optimal survivability.

I use life strike after gas rework cuz I can at least heal a decent amount of hp. Although jumping to do a heavy slam attack every 6 seconds is annoying and makes me feel like I'm playing frog simulator.

Style points, using an ability of your favorite frame, using a melee weapon that is unique to that frame.
And the fact that you can just use a random melee weapon and it's arguably better than an Exalted Melee weapon is not right. That's not how things should be.

Yea that shouldn't be be the case. Unfortunately it is the case atm.

https://imgur.com/a/jMitGzm <-- This is what I've been using and it seems to meet your criteria.

Personal preference things you can change: Sprint Boost + Rush could be... anything else really. I like ye olde Steel Charge & Swift Momentum. I think most people would sub in Power Drift, although I didn't notice the 15% damage doing anything practical and I like to go fast.

I have a build I used to use for Arbitrations and Sorties that trades Stretch for Adaptation, which Umbra can get away with since he starts with so many Umbra Forma. I do feel a bit energy starved if I'm fighting enemies who are too weak since they don't do enough damage to me to activate Hunter Adrenaline, but I do appreciate the extra layer of tankiness against enemies in the 100+ range, although I still generally prefer Stretch for the better blind coverage and greater Slash Dash distance. That all aside, Umbra is a pretty straightforward EHP/Hunter Adrenaline build; Blow your shields, take health damage to fuel energy from Hunter Adrenaline, and then utilize different methods of healing to keep yourself upright. If you have the time to farm or the platinum to blow then Arcane Grace & Arcane Guardian are very notable additions to the build. You could switch them out for something more offensive but I already do so much damage that I prefer to use those slots on survival.

Exalted Blade uses Condition Overload and Healing Return to great effect with Chromatic Blade. I debate switching **Condition Overload out for Sacrificial Steel but I'd need to burn an Umbra Forma on it to get it back in there; it would be slightly higher initial damage and keep Berserker more consistent. It doesn't *really* matter though; the thing does overwhelming damage either way. Chromatic Blade should generally be a notable damage increase and does a fantastic job of crowd control depending on which elements you are using. I'm set up for Corrosive/Fire but the recent status/armor scaling overhaul has opened up a lot of viable options. Viral is pretty nice from what I've played around with so far and you could probably go with whatever in all honesty.

    *edits~

I have a similar build but swapped out healing return for life strike. The damage with that build gets to the point of instantly obliterating enemies which doesn't let exal heal much. At some point I just brought a heavy built skana since it doesn't cost energy just to use it

Your build must be super weak, because I haven’t noticed a single drop in my Exalted blades performance.

Strange how builds that weren't changed did drop in performance. And the ones tried to adopt are still lacking. If you have a build that let's you do damage and at least have decent survivability; I would love to see that.

Hmm... does the discussion actually matter?

My Excalibur is a mere weapon platform/fashion frame since his frame skills never could compete (like at all) with melee and some serious guns.

I doubt that has changed after the patch.

The problem is he can't compete in Tankiness, DPS, or Support. His just a frame you take to look cool on a mission. Giving him said nerf further shaft him

  11. We got 3 major changes this year. Melee 3.0, Status changes, Self damage removal. This generally made more weapons more viable. Melee builds in particular are getting more diversed. With the removal of self damage, things like the Lenz, Tonkor and other previous self damaging weapons a chance to shine.

However with those changes, shanked the frames that specializes on those previous mechanics. Namely Excalibur and Chroma.

Excalibur has been a pretty powerful frame for awhile. What he lacked in survivability, he made up in the ability to murder everything he sees on the screen. He was able to survive with a mod named life strike. Which made his attack power also his survivability power. Relatively speaking. Since he still struggles to survive on crowded decently leveled enemies. Which with the recent changes, became more common.

Now there are 3 changes that has been repeatedly shanking excalibur(Umbra and Prime included). Condition Overload, Life strike, Chromatic blade. If your an Excalibur main you know this mods very well. This are the mods that made Excalibur very powerful in his previous life.

Condition Overload: Multipler changed to be similar to Pressure point. Now the problem comes to the fact that if you have Chromatic blade you would most likely only proc 1 elemental damage type. At most is 2. This is still powerful when combined with sacrificial or primed pressure, however most weapons can do it better. Which is problem since what's the point of using a channelled ability when regular weapons can out damage them?

Life strike: Changed to only get life steal from heavy attacks. You see... the whole fun of using Excalibur is being able to do the waves. Not only does the heavy attacks not do waves, it also takes time to charge, and recover from charge animation; which means you'll probably need to do another charge attack to recover hp. Healing return is a alternative but it isn't as reliable as old life strike was. And the problem of status immune enemies are also a problem healing return has to deal with. Chromatic blade can help but that has it's own issues that'll come up next.

Chromatic blade: Can't even bring you to 100% status chance with 180% power strength anymore. The Gram Prime can go over 100% status chance and beyond with weeping wounds. Gram Prime also has more crits, crit damage and doesn't sacrifice IPS damage to do so. And the gram Prime isn't alone with being able to out damage exalted blade. Which isn't hard since it's no longer the best status melee, neither does it even have decent crit chance.

    Excalibur's Ironic issues:

-Knight in shining barely existing armor. Like I said excalibur has survivability issues. A knight that has survivability issues. This frame as far as I know is meant to be inspired by the medieval age. With the name and it's passive, I assume this frame is a melee based one. Which means he'll be exposed to fire arms more often than not. True he can blind them. But being a crowd shooter game makes it pretty hard to avoid being shot down anyways.

-The owner of Sacrificial Steel has the lowest crit chance of all exalted melee. Even with the full set you only get an extra 8% crit chance on your blade. So you know. Just go Primed Pressure.

-The sentient hunter has a hard time doing eidolon hunts

-Most of the current Excalibur setup will have the daikyu amalgam mod with a nikana in order to get perma life steal. A nikana. A Nikana wielding knight

-Passive doesn't include Greats SWORDS, 2 HANDED NIKANAS and SWORD AND SHIELD. Umbra's passive doesn't even work with the anti sentient sword (Paracesis). Also this frame can't use a katana properly... you know... WITH 2 HANDS. Also a knight without a shield is a failure as a knight- from some sword and shield main that plays D&D probably

Chroma has some issues. Like being dead. Chroma is just a corpse sitting down on his former throne while people swear his still alive. In reality,  he has been needing a rework for quite some time now. Having self damage removed just triggered a reaction from chroma mains. His 1 does nothing. His 2 and 4 should just be fused. And his 4 cost way too much energy for something quite useless. In general, he feels much less like a dragon but more like a barbarian.

Nyx needs a rework badly. But with changes in armor, she's getting some slight indirect buff at least. Now her minions can do 100 damage instead of 50. Which still really isn't great.

Chroma and Nyx portion in this is short due to their problems just being a lot worst than Excalibur; and just boils down to please fix. I would explain in more details but I frankly don't know about them as much as I know Excalibur since they are pretty bad. I still have Chroma Prime yes but that's just because I don't want to throw away a primed frame.

  12. 1 hour ago, (XB1)GearsMatrix301 said:

Excalibur can still deal a significant amount of damage. I don’t know why everybody keeps saying he got the worst of it. Exalted blade is still very much worth using.

Not if you wanna stay alive. There is a reason why everybody is saying it. You can't even maintain his survivability anymore without doing worst damage that a primed melee when using his exalted blade. The mod which made his blade work was revamped.

If they add scaling damage to Radial Javelin it would allow the ability to compete in high levels without creating another Insane nuke ability that one shots everything in sight.

For Chroma (Chroma Main expect some bias), replace his first ability with something else and allow in mission element switching. Better yet merge Elemental Ward and Vex Armor to a single 3rd ability, move effigy to his second ability with a duration instead of a drain (allow the effigy’s breath to deal scaling damage and 100% status chance) and add a new 4th ability that allows him to use his wings to fly and enchance his abilities like in his Prime codex diorama.

Make chroma a dragon for short. Instead of a godzilla

Oh no trust me, Iron staff needs the exploit, tho I did test it yesterday and it barely helped. Before it was nerfed the standard combo was strong enough to wipe out 1/2 to 3/4 of the health of a level 100 corrupted heavy gunner. Now it barely makes a dent.

Yea but that's just the state of all the exalted melee atm. Wukong didn't get worst of it tho. Look at excalibur crying in the corner with his 2 favourite mods reworked and made his exalted blade wonky. Baruuk in the end had the last laugh.

  15. I think most of excalibur's problem comes down to his survivability. 3/4 of his skills are still viable.

Arguably 4 is hard to make it worth the time investing on after melee 3.0 which reworked the 2 mods always stuck on his exalted blade. It's a guaranteed proc weapon but lacks the crt chance or damage, and the old multiplier that made 100% status chance good. Also the old life strike mod which made excalibur at least slightly survivable.
