  1. Fair, I'll leave it be! The specific sentence I commented on bothered me because it's very easy for a business to start abusing the good will they've built. It would set the precedent that they could start putting anything behind a paywall as long as they can spin it on 'support'. Why not make full fledged $200 exclusive wailing skins, after all they're just supporting the game for buying a $200 skin and it's just cosmetic. I felt that even while discussing the further contents it's important to keep in mind what's happening at the core here. Because that same logic can be used to defend the point you're making. Someone could argue that the marriage of goods is not important, because it is a pack to cover the cost of a full-fledged game, so look at it like 'paying for a full game' that you CAN pay for if you want. It's simply a pack designed for those who wish to pay this amount and the contents + skins are just a trophy and goodies of this specific level of support. So all is fine and nothing should be separated. They just give you something nice for your support after all. If you don't want to pay for all, are you truly supporting after all or just entitled and greedy for wanting their support-exclusive items for cheap/free? (Note, I don't think like this, unfortunately a friend of mine does haha) Prime Access also is just accessories, not a fullfledged overhaul of the model of a frame. They don't carry the same weight at all. Even with operators, Warframes always are the star of the show. They're not comparable and prime access imo is a pretty elegant supporter solution. Debate on! :) I'll leave this thread to it's true purpose. I just wanted to explain why I commented on this in particular.
  2. I'd be careful with statements like that. Considering this is literally just putting deluxe skins behind a Paywall, on a event that costs them a lot, where they donate 200k to charity, give 10k for funsies to a cosplay contest and then also are developing 3 separate games you need to ask yourself how much of this is still supporting devs. They wouldn't do all that if they didn't already have the funds to do so. I've said it in another thread. Be aware that if you start being okay now with these deluxe skins to be sold behind a paywall, be prepared to do it every time from now on. Why would they give you the opportunity to make it obtainable for plat if they can just get you to open your wallet for 'support'. This game is for many people driven on collection. So this would just generate them a ton of money short term, while being harmful for the core charm and attraction of the game (the wide f2p accessibility and customization, with only community driven skins behind a paywall that aren't a complete model overhaul). This is a profit+greed driven decision, not a 'here is another way to support us'-pack. They could literally do that by breaking down the prime access pack further and making what you want with it more customizable. Whatever you do, just know you're not supporting the devs. The time limited nature on its own is proof on that considering DE's general hard stance on anti-exclusivity. You're supporting shareholders that have no interest in the game/community and just want to suck your wallet dry.
  3. I get where you're coming from, but they already have Prime Access for that as a pretty elegant solution (in my personal opinion). If not for that I'd just be shocked by the steep price, not by the act of selling skins of money only. This on top of prime access is just nasty. They donated 200k to charity, they're developing 3 games, they're able to host Tennocon and give away 10k USD to a cosplay contest for funsies. They definitely are in no need for money and the only reason they put deluxe skins behind a paywall is for the sake of greed. Nothing else. In another setting, I would say it's fair. Here I just don't think so with what I just said on top of fashionframing being such an integral part of the game (and f2p gaming experience!).
  4. Also just want to add on here that since Fashionframing is for many people Warframe's Endgame, putting full fledged entire new official non-tennogen skins behind a paywall it feels EXTRA bad over 'just' the monetization shift.
  5. They're selling deluxe skins behind a paywall. It's just far too big of a monetization shift. At least lube it up a bit DE! Don't just ram it in there!
  6. Fair, and it's all good. I just want anyone who feels it goes against them but still want to buy to properly think about it before they make the choice. Because if collecting matters to you be prepared to have to dish out this money on a regular basis starting now. So if you're not willing to start doing that, better start cutting the cord now than later when it starts feeling sour and you have a financial investment alongside a time investment. Done that before with other games and it didn't bode well for my actual enjoyment of the game. Which made both my time and money essentially go to waste. I'm sure most people have done that at some point somewhere :P Just make sure you're okay with knowing what you'll start spending money on to keep your own motivation to play going. I'm way past seriously judging what people spend their money on in games(even if I personally disagree), but I do feel its important people know what they sign up for when these kind of changes start happening. I also think the sad fact is that people are so conditioned to these monetization models it might not matter at all. However, because Warframe IS different, I do think there's a chance that they'll get a lot of backlash personally! But time will tell.
  7. Hey as long as you're aware you're promoting this behaviour and they will probably start locking all cool new skins behind this monetization model you do you. Why would they ever make any new deluxe skin if they can just sell you packs of $90? Keep that in mind. At the end of the day you vote with your wallet. If this is acceptable for you go for it. If not then not. For me personally the introduction of these is probably going to be the reason to drop the game completely. But I'll wait it out a bit and see what happens. If people will vote this stuff in I know this is no longer the game for me and I'll just move on, if the community stays strong on this however it might bring a change. Important to note is that these 'Heirloom skins' are literally just deluxe skins being propped up and locked behind a paywall. This is just testing the waters if it will be accepted. Putting it with 10 year anniversary is literally an excuse to soften the introduction of this system.
  8. This is wildly disappointing for me as well. I really like how Prime Access in its own gave enough to justify buying and supporting, allowing skins like the Deluxe skins to stay earnable ingame. This just feels like they're throwing around their entire business model. This is wild and sad even if they would sell the skins as separate. They should be earnable in-game PERIOD. NOT locked behind a paywall with fomo-tactics on top of that. Even IF they would be behind a paywall, at the very least let them return every year for Tennocon, and make them separate buyable options. These pack prices are ridiculous. What I LOVE about warframe is that no deluxe items are behind huge prices. There's so many good cosmetics that the prime accessories from prime access are not too big a thing to miss out on - yet fantastic to have. Skins on the other hand are a HUGE overhaul in how your character looks. There's the Tennogen which I'm personally not a fan of, HOWEVER they're not outrageous in pricing and I do like that it's community driven. Collecting the cool official skins/accessories was essentially my biggest motivation apart from 'completing the pokedex'. This really just sours that and actually genuinely makes me lose interest in the game. Warframe loses a very particular charm when they go down this monetization path. It's sad.
