So, I got some good luck, and rolled a Smeeta Kavat, In my eagerness, I decided to rush the build, after spending platinum to rush the construction of both the incubator and power core. I spent the resources, and used up imprints and such. Only to have my cat stolen by the void.
 

The cat is in my inventory, when check in the menu. But, I can't select it or see it in the companion section, or in the incubator segment.

So, I resolved the issue, it seems that consigning a kubrow allowed me to reset the selection.  I'm leaving the post up to record the bug.
