  1. Short answer, yes. Not that you'd expect me to say no. I think that we both, if for nothing other than enlightened self interest, want the game, DE and the community to improve. And we see things pointing away from that under the new <taboo1> where at moderators whim it is now possible to interpret anything that is not praise or unassailable trivial statements (like: clem says clem a lot. True and "uncontroversial"), as something that can be covered under the rules about unconstructive and/or negative post and construed as intentional harm towards product & company reputation. Yet even pointing out something this obvious, at least to those who tried to read it in detail, can also be construed as wanting to tarnish. Completely missing the point that such overly far-reaching rules, left open to excessive "judgement calls" that will mainly scare off the sensible quality posters and cause massive selfcensoring among them, is what is really driving a lot of the deteriorative force. Difference is perhaps in how we view our options in that matter. I for one realize I do not have the "fame & name" that you do, so even if I decided to take the risk (and total ban is always a option they won't rule out) I would not have that kind of extra safety. I say this because in my opinion and experience it is evident that this, your post and thread, has only been left up to not risk the martyr effect, even though your have been more 'careful' in your phrasing than I would - and in my time here I have been careful in getting close but not going over and showing some unspoken courtesy by being "unspoken" around some mtx and such that which I have found unappetizing. As is often the case in delicate matters, certain inactions give hints from those otherwise supposed to act. Clearly the hot potato is not being touched or responded* to even after a week, waiting on peoples attention span to wear out and let it drift down the pages where it wont catch anyones eye. Clear case of silent treatment on something that would otherwise be a fine opportunity to address concerns and communicate. But what do I know, maybe what they would communicate is simply 'We have decided, and that is the end of that. It is not up for debate.' In which case the silence makes sense since saying something like that would make them look worse. I think we can agree that this started to really slide with <taboo1> being drastically changed. (cue Darth Vader, altering the deal. Because, cue Jack Nicholson saying 'you cant handle the truth' ). Then I took a long hard look at it and got the gist of how badly this can go. So I basically stopped posting and have not played since. While I consider it wildly illegal (at the least the "signing away your rights" violations) and a insecurity-driving mess (you can't feel safe except by not posting or being a altarboy) I am also being practical about it and just decline. It is not ok with me as it is. Still swing by once or twice a week, hoping, like a optimistic fool, that maybe, this week, they will apologize for going too far and reign it in a lot, so I can get back into practice of what had become my main shooter. (*) I say not responded to with some reservation. Someone called somethingsomething85 made a particularly vile post. Like a unsanctioned reddit predator that had walked off the reservation and come here, or a mod/staff of some sort hiding on a alt but unable to contain itself and finally popping. The toxic nature in a very broad sense, the traps, strawmen, et al, are quite brazen and I rightly wonder why moderation has not come down hard on *that*. Is there some inner struggle going on, where the forces of good have not yet come to the conclusion that it can not be allowed to stand? For your, the general audiences, convenience, I have sliced some of the bits up here for you for easy reading. Just beginning to describle the foul nature of all that could be enough to land the rest of us a very long forum vacation. I wonder what that person sees when they look in a mirror. Maybe they don't have one, or it is one of those distorting ones the devil likes to hand out. ps: personal update in case anyone remembers and cares from last time. The BP medicine seem to be helping considerably, at least by the measured BP, but I must still watch salt intake, aggravation and physical exertion. Apparently human bodies are less durable than warframes, who would have guessed #funnynotfunny. It has probably also helped that I had absense from the vitriol of such posters, by taking time off from both game and forum. A happy coincidence in a bad situation. I do not expect to post again soon, just wanted to lend a little support to Voltage, a forum regular who goes on where many would call it in vain and stop, to much greater benefit of you all than most of you realize. Without the likes of him this place would be worse off than it is. Just many don't realize a benefit until it is gone.
  2. Sorry guy, not happening. This is nothing like Eve Online, that has had intricate and detailed API accessible to thirdparty apps and with a well developed permissions system. Running for more than a decade. D.E. is a different entity. And WF is basically a heavily modified version of UT2K3, by some of the people behind UT99 that wanted to go another direction than Epicgames took UT. Adjust your expectations accordingly. Old horses and all that...
  3. These things can no longer safely be discussed there. I've previously posted screenshots and even a video clip, of visual defects. Clearly that is also no longer allowed. It would certainly not be wise to do it anyway and risk getting "disappeared". You should really beware of the rubberbanded wording: 'or that, in our discretion, may damage the value, goodwill, or reputation of us, our affiliates, our products, Content, or brands. ' Even giving a clear memed description of how far that could be stretched, could risk falling foul of such a rule. It can essentially be stretched to eliminate all criticism, venting or pointing out of error. I've been absent from forum for a long time but that is also due to treatment for high blood pressure, the medications having some negative consequences on my abilities to type without a lot or errors and mixing up similar words. Thought is clear enough, but somewhere between that and what arrives on the keyboard, something is working a lot worse. Something with cognitive sideffects from electrolyte imbalances and lowering of bloodflow due to the medication, until the body adjust to a new equilibrium. This new eula just closes the door completely to the majority of useful feedback, with criticism and pointing out problems usually being the most useful, as it won't be allowed. I'd like to point out the similarities to certain countries and their regimes that take the old saying "of you have nothing nice to to say, don't say anything" to the terminal extremes, but that would also be at risk.
  4. You may think it a clever jest, unfortunately they are serious. More than most of you imagine. Very recently, a canadian "loose-cannon" judge, decided that an emoticon response in a phone text message is contractual agreement (in the legally binding sense). Yes, let that sink in. An emoticon. In a phone text message (which easily spoofed and insecure btw). Not placed on a contract. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-farmer-ordered-to-pay-after-judge-says-thumbs-up-emoji-amounts-to/ You should be paying a lot of attention to that, since D.E. formally is a Canadian company. Naturally I expect this thing to be appealed and overruled, for the sheer principal nature of it. Besides the horrifying consequences of such a ruling, it is broadly speaking not for the judge to redefine what a contract is or constitues a agreement to it. That is a matter for the legislative body (=government). Frankly, if I were the minister of justice or whatever they call it in canada, I'd fire the fool of a judge immediately and have him banned from working as judge or lawyer. For your education, this is just a absurd extension of the principles in the 'verbal agreement is as good as a signature' jurisdictions. A principle that is in itself abhorrent - any crooked ass could claim you gave verbal agreement to whatever and sue on that basis (and conversely anyone could deny everything) - and it is with good reason that this is not the way contracts work in most of the world. Until then, beware of sending any 'thumbs up' or other emoticon the might be construed as 'affirmative' to anyone who might be canadian. Seems like we will all need lawyers soon, the way the canadians, and generally the TPtB worldwide, are going. Just because we do not reside there, will not mean that they will not try to apply their law to us anyway.
  5. I came looking to see if there was important information that ought to be heeded. Instead I found 'waiting for build to pass cert process' and... something else. That looks rather bigger than a patch pause. 'Drifter'? Is that how it is now? On a lighter note, don't bury that other stuff (devstream, anniversary, tennocon, dojo contest, etc) here where it is so very off-topic. When you make a PSA, keep it on topic. The other stuff deserves notes of their own, elsewhere. To that end, I might remind you that many of us who use the forum, do not use any other part of the website, including the "news" page (click on 'NEWS' at the top of this page and you will understand). We'd very much like to have a news section in the forum, because apparently a lot does not make it as far as the 'announcements' section. Simple accurate, concise on-topic posts in locked (commentless) threads. Yeah, because we don't follow 15 related twitter accounts, if we are on twitter at all. This psa could and should have been 1 or 2 line post: "hotfixes are on hold, waiting on cert process across platforms. Bugfixing are still ongoing. Estimated to resume some time next week."
  6. (btw missing tag choices, crashes has no tag) How can this bug be reproduced? n/a, unreliable rare fault. What was happening before the issue started? Running spy mission (Nerid), approaching B or C, disabling a laser field by simple touch terminal. Can you provide your build and game settings? eh, same wf build as everyone else on PC. DX11, 'enhanced' render, nothing special, W10. What kind of squad were you in? Solo, host, client? host, open, but no guests. Can you share any images or a video of the bug? no, was not recording. Nothing of note other than brief freeze and then it was gone. If you get the crash reporter: did not get crash reporter. Just the outdated (with a link to instructions for W7) generic webpage trying to blame it on faulty hardware, OC, and non-whql-certed drivers. Only the game crashed/shut down, everything else stayed up. log excerpt: Of note: reports of negative utilization (!) Browsing further back in the log, it began reporting negative utilization a while earlier, but was fine before that: Noting here: last 0 or positive utilization at the 9712 mark. First negative utilization report at the 9757 mark. DXGI error report at 9847 mark. Suggested observation: things began going bad at the first report of negative utilization, about 90s before the main event. Also, according to timestamps, allowing only 2ms for driver reset to complete seems.. tight.
