  1. Good question and important detail to clarify. I’m unable to simulate spatial awareness via a screen, e.g. I can’t tell up from down, left from right, depth, etc. Never have been able to. First person shooters are a no-go and third-person is only doable with auto-aim. I just end up spinning the camera and firing wildly. On top of that, my reaction time in pressing buttons and pressing multiple buttons at once has always been terrible. You know those Batman QuickTime games a few years that were laughably easy? I didn’t make it past the second level. The depressing part is, I didn’t cheese or leech my way to this point of the game. I don’t own Wukong, I don’t like Saryn and while I used Ember a lot early on, I got bored of nuking the map. I rely on my weapons to do damage, and mod my frames for survivability. Because that’s how I like to play, it’s how the game was modeled and it’s what I needed to succeed. Unfortunately, modding strategy isn’t an option for this portion of the game.
  2. I’m aware of this. I can’t get react fast enough to use my smoke screen before he pushes me too far away to use it effectively. As I said, I know what I’m supposed to do. I’ve read the Wiki and watched the walkthroughs and read advice on these forums. I understand the instructions. I simply lack the capacity to perform them.
  3. As another poster noted, the archons heal, so the shoot-and-run strategy doesn’t work. It’s not that I don’t know HOW to beat them; it’s that I can’t. And yes, I have a defeatist attitude. When it comes to video games, I’m an admitted quitter. To me, my job and daily life present enough challenges for me. I don’t desire to go to an artificial world to experience more frustration. Hence why I’ve never attempted a Ninja Gaiden or Dark Souls game. I really enjoy how 90% of the content in Warframe, you can make as challenging as you want by bringing non-optimal loadouts, but still have the option to just go blast everything if needed. For these Archons in TNW, there’s no modding strategy. It’s just pure skill and it’s disappointing that I don’t possess that level of skill and therefore I’m blocked in a game that’s never really demanded skill before. I appreciate everyone’s advice. I’m coming to grips with the fact that I’m sadly done with a game I’ve loved for years and it’s just difficult to accept.
  4. I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a video gamer. I’m what some might call middle aged, and the appeal of Warframe to me was that it was never hard. I enjoy unwinding after a long, crappy week at work with a couple mindless hours killing hordes of squishy enemies. I’m not looking for a challenge. I play every game on “story” mode and when that gets too hard, I quit. I never cared to venture into Steel Path or Arbitrations in Warframe. I knew they were there, but they’re optional and they’re simply not for me. So I finally got around to playing The New War and I didn’t find it overly difficult at first. Now I’m at the first Archon, Boreal, and I just don’t understand why DE did this. From everything I read on these forums, Boreal is the easy Archon. I can’t beat him. I’ll never beat him. It’s a skill issue, for sure. I admit, video game skill isn’t something I’ve ever had. So is this it? I can’t progress if I don’t suddenly develop gaming skills I never had in my previous four decades of existence, and I can’t get out of the quest, as has been well documented with other players who got stuck? I realize I won’t get much sympathy here and I don’t expect any. I just don’t understand why it has to be this way.
  5. Sorry, but I disagree. Stabbing your Lich automatically ranks it up. So if you're farming for the correct requiems but don't have them equipped, you should absolutely just let the Lich go. There's no penalty for it. It just leaves. And running out of Lich nodes has never happened to anybody, including yourself. Admit it. So many players don't understand this. If I know the third requiem on my Lich, but I don't have a copy of that requiem, I let him/her go until I crack it. That way I can end up fighting a Level 3 Lich at the end, as opposed to a Level 4-5. And as for "leeching," that's a nonsense accusation. Nowhere does it say your squadmates need to behave the way you want them to.
  6. How do they compare to the Drifter fights in Duviri, from a difficulty perspective? I didn't find that quest overly difficult, just boring and un-Warframe-like.
  7. Bingo. I've held off on The New War for so long, because all I hear is one extreme or the other: It's Stupidly Easy vs. It's Impossible I built and gilded the best Cetus amp, fully ranked up my Necramech and Forma'd by Railjack. I'm in the process of farming better 'Mech mods. All of which is surely overkill, but I'd rather have TNW turn out to be a breeze than to get stuck like so many underprepared players have. It's tough because skill level varies wildly. Personally, my skill and modding knowledge are mediocre, so I need to be kitted to the ceiling. I just might be more honest with myself about my ability -- or lack thereof -- than some players.
  8. Correct, it's relative. Which is why my statement was "Defense is my favorite game mode" and not "Defense is the best game mode." Everything's subjective, which is why I wanted to offer the alternative viewpoint.
  9. Defense is my favorite game mode for relics, leveling, and general enjoyment of "playing the game." Every other mode is impacted greatly by speedrunners and meta enthusiasts that turn them into running simulators.
  10. Traffic, traffic, lookin for my chapstick. Feelin kinda carsick. There's a Ford Maverick.
  11. I let my first Lich languish for months while I researched precisely what to do, because I was worried about screwing up something out of ignorance. Finally, when I was ready to do it ... I still almost did the wrong thing, because Vanquish/Convert are different buttons on NSW than on the PC walkthroughs I was reading! I'm with you, it's only clear after the fact, when you've already F'd up.
  12. I just want to say as an observer that your patience with this overly belligerent user is recognized and admired.
  13. I keep hearing this, but I also keep hearing from players who can't get through TNW because they didn't bother with RJ, Operator or Mechs before and are now stuck. I've delayed starting TNW because my amp stinks and I don't have a mech. I literally just hit "Build" on my Voidrig this morning, so I'm hoping the wait wasn't a waste.
  14. Do you have the skiajati yet? I've used that for several stealth-oriented MR tests, since it grants you a few seconds of invisibility after a stealth finisher. Provided you're fast enough, stealth kill the first enemy and then you can basically stay invisible for the whole test.
  15. Is there a way to make your Operator "faster"? I also find this the most frustrating aspect of Operator play, but I don't know how to change it.
  16. Sounds like we're about the same generation and skill level. This is a great analogy and lays out why I'm worried about beginning The New War. I've been grinding for a non-mote amp and necramech for months to make sure I'm sufficiently powered, but I'm pretty concerned that I'll be stuck like all of these posters. And that the response from other forum users will unhelpfully be, "git gud." I don't want to git gud. I want to continue to have zero skill at videos games but be able to jump around and shoot stuff. That's why I play Waframe. 🙂
