  1. Is it hardware accelerated so I don’t have a huge hit to my performance because it’s using the specialized cores on the graphics cards? AMD has them built into all their Compute cores since RDNA 2, and we can’t ignore Nvidia’s RT cores, and the same thing on intel GPUs. Saying we are changing the lighting engine doesn’t mean crap to me if I can’t enjoy it because it tanks my performance on my RTX 3060. But yes the new tile set is gorgeous.
  2. Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I think hardware accelerated ray tracing is a good idea for the game. They don’t have to go with nvidia or AMD specific they could make their own one using Vulkan or DX12 Ultimate. Minecraft Ray-Tracing works on both brands, so it’s not impossible. Also I’d argue it’s a perfect time for it seeing the current gen consoles support it, IPhone is to support hardware raytracing with the iPhone 15 pro max, and all current graphics cards support it, also wouldn’t be surprised if the M3 chip from Apple supports it too in the next generation of Mac’s. And not doing it would essentially be falling behind the competition in terms of graphical fidelity.
