It says RIGHT THERE it will complete, and presumably skip through, New War and go past literally EVERYTHING just so that the new players can get the shiny goodies.

It says no such thing. All Rebb did was say that currently "Whispers in the Walls has a prerequisite of The New War to access it for narrative  & story reasons" and that the goal is to "allow players to use Platinum to buy a pack that unlocks & completes the replayable Quests required to access Whispers in the Walls". (Emphasis mine.)

She makes NO statement whatsoever in any of her post that every, single thing - nodes, junctions, etc. - will be unlocked as part of the purchase, just that previous quests will be unlocked so that newer players can go into the Codex and start quests. She also makes no mention of the entire Origin system or other requirements that force core gameplay, nor is she saying that all quests will be unlocked, just the ones for Whispers in the Walls.

This implies that Origin System grind will still be necessary for other quests, and DE has also acknowledged that they're looking for ways to streamline that, too. But I still see absolutely no problem with playing plat to skip a quest that gets unlocked during Origin System progression, just like we can with weapons, warframes, or mechs that we don't want to have to grind.

Tell me then, when you skip the grind do you also completely bypass all the game modes that go into Warframe as a result.

You argument is a total straw man. Skipping quests does NOT remove the obligation to unlock the planetary nodes or junctions, which is where the game modes truly exist. New players are *still* going to have to go through all of that if they want to play with veteran players. You can't simply skip through to Chains of Harrow, which requires The War Within quest. They still must play (or replay) the Mot Survival node in the Void, the end node of the Void branch accessible via Sedna. Once both conditions are met, the quest will become available from the Codex.

The War Within requires The Second Dream to be completed and the Sedna junction at Pluto to be unlocked.

The Second Dream requires the Neptune junction to unlocked.

You can't just skip through the quests withouth performing actions in the Origin System to get to those checkpoints. So your argument about "the rest of Warframe" is pointless. New players will still have to play through the Origin system to access quests and could be skippable. So stop with the false equivalence.

Ok again, say they skip the whole quest.

What's the rest of the game going to be like, if the rest of the game is waiting several hours, 72 OF THEM FOR SOMETHING AS BASIC AS ANOTHER CHARACTER, to do other things.

"Well we can just skip them"

So is that going to be Warframe's legacy now?

"Play Warframe and just pay to skip everything so that you play the new shiny thing."

Like again, they're going to skip to play a short in comparison quest and then the new players are going to be shot into the hell that is the rest of Warframe's grind.

Pay 500 plat to get to new content, and then the rest of the horrid content that they wanted to skip is not only still there. But is still worth the 500p that they  pay to skip, meaning that they paid to skip for nothing.

Besides, you know, one quest that is going to have mechanics that'll never show up again in the rest of the game.

Imagine having to pay to skip to Zariman, and then seeing that the new character and weapons are from the Zariman is still behind the grind that you paid to skip, but all of them still have the #*!%ing several hours of wait time, PLUS the four missions that you paid to play are only there and the rest of the game is nothing like that.

You are going under an assumption that people will be skipping entire series of quests or even all of the quests to make things easier for them. I don't see that happening. And I would expect (or at least hope they would have) big warnings before allowing skipping to say, "Hey, you're going to be missing this, this, and this if you skip this. Are you sure you want to do this?" If the player still wants it, that's on them at that point. Rebb has even stated that they are looking at small packs of a few quests to let people progress more if they want. I see no problem with this.

But the issue for me is that the whole notion of being against unlocking quests reeks of hypocrisy.

    - Buy a warframe off the market to skip the grind: OK

    - Buy a weapon off the market to skip the grind: OK

    - Buy a Prime Access pack to reduce the relic-cracking grind: OK

    - Buy a booster off the market to reduce the grind: OK

    - Buy a booster off the market when there's a DE-given doubler weekend to further reduce the grind: OMG YES!

    - Buy a quest off the market to skip the (often solo) grind: OMG HOW DARE YOU THIS WILL RUIN THE GAME EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYBODY! AND WHAT ABOUT THE STORY?!

    Are you kidding me?

But the reason it takes 100 hours has nothing to do with the quests

The reason it takes 100 hours is because to get a weapon it takes 12 hours so that you can get a weapon, and that it takes 3 days just to make another Warframe for Mastery Points that unlocks other missions.

If that's what they want them to skip, it only skips that for like just one new 5 minute quest line. Like what's their experience going to be, going into Whispers of the Wall to get the new shiny book blueprint and then finding out that it'll take them TWELVE HOURS to build it? Or when the new update has Necramechs and that it takes THREE DAYS to build? If they think that the new players are THAT impatient that they'd be willing to pay money to skip, whats going to keep them when EVERYTHING ELSE is seemingly a 'Pay to Skip' scenario?

There are 35 quests in the game. Some don't take long at all, sure, but some take quite a while. If we consider an average of 1.5 hours among all of those quests, you're looking at 50+ hours just to complete all of the quests. So to say that the quests have nothing to do with 100 hours is not correct. I understand that the various missions, junctions, and open world grinds are more impactful, but quests absolutely are part of the pain.

We can already play plat to buy warframes and weapons off the market and skip the grind for those. (I'm looking at you, necramechs!) I see this idea as simply an extension of that.

How DE decides to implement it is the key factor; but no one should have any objections to something like "Ugh, I'm not in the mood to do that quest, but I can't move on without it. Fine, here's 10 plat to skip. I can go back later if I want."

Fully support a story skip. I also fully support reworking the Star Chart to cut down on the hundreds of missions new players are forced to do. I cannot get friends to try the game because it's simply too much content. They are hooked on the idea of playing with me. They are not hooked on the idea of having to clear hundreds of nodes and however many quests to be able to play with me.

Too many people on all the social medias are pointing to factors that simply do not matter in the grand scheme of things. The problem is the content taking 100 hours to complete. A 100 hours before my friends can play with me. Most of the solutions people are proposing do not get rid of that 100 hour time gate.

Cannot agree more. Too many people are falling back on the lore, story, etc. as an excuse to force the grind. Those have little meaning to those, including veteran players, who just want to jump into a mission and kill things.

I love the lore and story behind Warframe as much as anyone else. I've spent hours completing the Cephalon Symaris stories, hunting the Solaris data fragments in Orb Vallis, looking for kuria, and such. But forcing new players to go through the story just because we love it is projection. It's no different than "I absolutely love this book, so I expect you to love this book as well!" It's very disappointing to see how many people are using the story/lore as an excuse to force people into a 100+ hour grind.

Newer players do not need to know the lore behind Vox Solaris (for example) to understand the mechanics of an efficient Eidolon hunt or how to optimize an Arca Plasmor and Smeeta kavat to hold off level 60+ infested during a defense mission. It bothers be how much people are attempting to mix the two.

  6. When DE hired YouTube creators who never played WF to do the lead up to New War, I was blown away by how much needs to be done to get to that point - WAY more than I expected because I had been doing it over the past 10 years. There is a RIDICULOUS amount of content that might not be obvious when you've had the privilege of playing it months apart as it came out. It's totally understandable if new players feel overwhelmed by that. I have friends who got turned off by the grind and never came back. I don't begrudge them that.

I agree that going through the game is better (and I fully agree that Vor's Prize should be a requirement, perhaps the entire Mercury map as well so that players can experience most gameplay styles), but not everyone has the free time to go through what we have gone through. That's who this idea is geared towards. I won't blame anyone who chooses this accelerated path, especially if it helps to retain them in the long run rather than scare them off from the mountain of grind they face by taking this option away.

We can already use plat to buy non-Prime warframes and weapons so that we don't have to grind for them. I simply see the Story Pack as an extension to that.

  7. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is concerned about this.  I have yet to be able to build a pathocyst because my inventory currently consists of 5 blueprints, 7 subcortices, and 1 blade. I was teamed with another player Monday night who was furious because (as he said) he had 7 each of blueprints and subcortices, but yet he only had 1 blade. We played four Zeloid Prelate rounds together, and no blades dropped.

Now I'm concerned that access to the pathocyst will go away when the current Nighwave series ends next week, especially since we only have two opportunities per day to get parts and RNG is not being exactly beneficial to some of us.

  8. This has happened three times in a row.  When someone leaves the squad in the middle of a round, *everyone* reverts to shields and health like they would be in normal mode. The guns are so weak it's almost impossible to take anyone down that way, so there is nothing left to do but find a hiding spot or keep running around.  If you get multiple enemies on you, they can still take you down, but one-on-one is useless after someone leaves the squad. This has also been noticed by new players who come in when someone else has left. They will also start with whatever shields and health they would have on any regular mission.

  9. So, I just had another run-in with the Wolf. This time i was in an Ivara with a Dread that was taking out level 35-40 enemies in one shot with thousands of damage per hit. Then The Wolf shows up. I went invisible and started hitting him in the head at point blank range for a whopping .... 25-30 damage per hit, even when critical.

The only benefit is that he couldn't see me, so I managed to scan him without incident. After that, mission aborted.

    F**K.

    THIS

  10. Actually, Dani and Helen were talking about this on today's PS4 stream. They mentioned how so many people drop from the mission when they encounter the wolf and a lot of people in the chat said the same thing. But that's exactly because the Wolf is way too overpowered.

I was in an extermination relic mission with three others a week or two ago.We were in a level 30-40 mission relic run. Suddenly here comes The Wolf at a whopping level 74! One of the guys admitted that they were bringing leveling gear, so he was not going to be helpful; the other had relatively weak gear and admitted that he's not equipped for the Wolf. I was definitely the wolf of our team having brought a Rhino and some decent gear. So the third player and I ended up carrying on the majority of dealing with The Wolf and restoring the other teammates when they got dropped. What should have been a simple hit-and-go extermination run ended up being a 25-minute slog because of the Wolf being so ridiculously leveled up compared to the rest of us.  We finally defeated him .... and he dropped a useless mod.

Okay, so the drop is all because of the RNG gods. I get that. But it ended up being a useless drop after a ridiculously more-difficult-than-it-needed-to-be Wolf appearance. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE DROP OUT WHEN THE WOLF SHOWS UP!

  11. Yep, came here to report this.  If I try to enter a free roam session directly from my orbiter, it shows a squad during load but then suddenly I'm alone and people keep popping in and out of my squad.  If I attempt to enter a free roam session from Fortuna, it always gives a host migration message and then I'm back in a single player session.

  12. Honestly, I'm really hopeful for this! This could get rid of so much of the frustration of randomness. For example, it took me months to get a Grineer sheev set because I had to get lucky to finally look when the last part was available! It was absolutely frustrating! This method is potentially a LOT better! "You want the Sheev? Here it is. Go run some missions to get the money to buy it!"

You can't mark gamemode a failure judging by your opinion... instead here is a fact:

this post was submitted same day The sacrifice quest was launched on PC. said by DE Steve, also I watched the stream and Steve did said that. not sure about the stalker thing... but he confirmed pvp on a shady syndicate.

So if you join a shady syndicate you have the option to invade/grief other people's games? The "not cool at all" alarms are going off on that one unless they have some way of making sure that there's a balance with the levels of whoever they're targeting. It would totally suck if someone playing a low MR warframe with okay weapons suddenly gets invaded by a player with MR 20 and fully loaded arca plasmor. That has more potential for pissing people off than by making it an enjoyable experience. Existing syndicate attacks are already a pain because they break the flow of the mission, but at least you get items with the Stalker.

The other part of it would be to do what Ubisoft did in Watch_Dogs: give people the choice to opt out of being invaded by others.

  14. A lot of people are complaining about this in the chat. I was able to sell a few things, but usually it was only when I tried to sell three or more if the same item.  So, yeah, there are things that I need from Baro this round but apparently selling items is broken for now. 😫

  15. I wanted to share my latest project: my 3D printed Lex Prime. (Disclaimer: I didn't design it. I wish I was that gifted.) This took a few weeks of printing, painting, and assembling, but I'm totally in love with this.  I hope that I'll be allowed to bring it with me to TennoCon in a few weeks. Please, DE? Please? I know I'm American, but I promise that this is 100% plastic and doesn't shoot. It doesn't even have a trigger!

The original plans can be found at https://t.co/9My6A5MZ4F for anyone who wants to try it out for themselves.

  16. I just ran into a bug with public syndicate runs. This was repeatable and I discovered a pattern. I joined a syndicate defense run. One of the other players said that all of the medallions were in the exterior rooms, but none of us who joined later could see them.

I started another syndicate run with one of those players afterwards. I could see all of the medallions, he couldn't, even ones that I didn't collect.

We did another syndicate run but this time the other player started it. HE could see the medallions but I could not.

We still got standing for doing the mission itself; however, it was clear that whoever starts the mission can see and pick up the medallions but other players cannot.  It's not a matter of it being there but invisible either. He and I both went to areas where the medallion was (opposite missions, obviously), and whoever couldn't see it couldn't pick it up even with the tag on the medallion.

  17. Same here. I got some very interesting screen shots from it, though.  I already posted them in another thread (I missed this one) but this glitch definitely raised my eyebrows.

  18. EDIT: Sorry. I should have guessed that other threads would already be discussing this.  My bad.... :/

This is one I've never seen before.  I was playing a Ghoul mission last night.  For whatever reason the game COMPLETELY screwed up the X/Y/Z position of where the Cetus doorway was, as you can see by the screenshots below. The game responded as though the map was correct for me (that first step was a doozy!) and I was able to kill ghouls that were not blocked by anything; but obviously everything else was completely off because of where it thought I was in relation to everyone (and everything) else.

No one else on the team reported any issues when I mentioned the glitch I was having. I went as far as I could but eventually we got to a section where the goal and my teammates were 75m below ground from my perspective. I apologized to the team, but I was useless at that point, and left the squad at which point the game accused me of resource theft, which is not cool. But I went back to what appeared to be the Cetus door, and obviously ended up with a major clipping error as seen in the last screenshot. Not only did I get accused of being a resource thief, I had to abort the mission entirely and lost everything I had earned because ... well, that wasn't Cetus.  So, here are the interesting visuals I got to see.

    Watch that first step!

    warframe_cetus_glitch_2.jpg

I don't think that's actually where the starting point is supposed to be.

    warframe_cetus_glitch_3.jpg

There's the Cetus entrance hovering in the distance.

Mounds are a-floatin' in the air.

Cetus isn't supposed to look like that. And who are you calling a resource thief, b**ch?!

  19. The luminos dye worked the first time I used it, but after that -- nothing.   Here are two screen shots with the fish circled. I'm glad that I was in the ocean area where the water is clear. This will probably be a real pain at night in other areas though.

    Luminos dye not working 1

    Luminos dye not working 2

EDIT:  I left the Plains and exited the game. I went back in and, just as before, the Luminos Dye worked once. After that, nothing. Looks like it's not getting reset when subsequent dyes are thrown out.

The fact that the cooldown increases on every point spent, and the player is tasked with surviving that much longer without the bonuses afforded by Focus, is exactly why players are encouraged not to build into the tree and instead just get to the one or two abilities they want; a fully-invested tree would make the cooldown longer than most non-Endless missions, and you don't get a charge to start with.

Case in point, although anecdotal: my nephew once mentioned that he never gets a chance to activate his focus before the mission is over. I asked him how many branches he had activated and he had three or four more branches active than mine, but he only had a small amount of focus in each one. Meanwhile, here I am with my Energy Overflow and Void Pulse Mastery maxed out and only the branches for those powers active for a 160-second wait to activate. I wanted to use some of the other powers but at that point, with the per-branch timer punishment added on, it wasn't worth bothering with.

I'm really looking forward to Plains of Eidolon, and they can take all of the time they need to get it done right. But I'm really worried about how they're going to replace Energy Overflow.

  21. I really want to try "Plains of Eidolon" but unless you come up with something to adequately replace Zenurik's Energy Overflow without having to resort to those awful arcanes, this MR 22 (soon to be MR 23) player will have little interest in the grind that will be necessary to get to MR 24. My Steam backlog will look a LOT more attractive. Please don't let that happen.
