  1. The DevStream overview had the following line " Holding 4 will allow you to Mark enemies "    There is no good way to do this on console. Not without a horrible control scheme.   There are lots of powers now that use the "Tap to do X and hold to do Y"     This is awful on console.    So I'd say either allow us to hold the touchpad on PS4 (still won't help XBone), or PLEASE let me move my account over to PC.

  2. In the notes for this update, Spectres of the Rail, there was supposed to be better audio. I recall seeing Steve show in progress audio which made gun sounds change if you were in a hall, behind cover or out in the open, for example. Also hearing shooting in the distance or your teammates in combat.

I assume the afore mentioned audio improvements are what the notes referred to. Despite this I can't notice a change, at least not a good one.   I tested with a Soma and Sybaris by firing in an open field, in a hallway, inside Grineer ship and inside those Corpus shipping containers. I would start firing and then walk in and out of the locations. Enemies weapons don't sound any different. A while back they updated sound so you could better hear if you're being shot at, and I still notice that in effect.

There *could* be a difference, but it's very slight. I had a room mate test also, before telling him my own results, and he also noticed no difference. It could very well be updated, but I'm afraid it's too minor to have any effect. I can say with certainty, however, that PS4 did not yet get the changes we saw showcased on the DevStream.

    Thoughts?

  3. So I just got a chance to play as Inaros and really fool around with him.   His controls are bad. I mean really, really bad.    So right now you would swipe to select the ability, like his Ultimate, then press and hold the touchpad to charge it. This seems strange for a couple reasons. First, pressing the touchpad seems to do THREE things?? Focus, Map and Last used (selected) ability??  Secondly, why can't I just keep my finger on the touch pad?   I mean, Swipe to the right and then keep my finger on the pad to use the "Hold" feature of the Ability and charge it. If you just swipe quickly you'll cast the projectile part.   The same goes for his Devour ability. Why can't I just keep my finger on the touchpad after swiping left?  I've played Indie games that have almost identical function to what I'm describing.

My current fix is to assign "Use selected power" to "Down" on the D-Pad. So I swipe to select the Ultimate then press the d-pad, which sucks badly but is better than having to press the touchpad and risk one of several functions happening.

Combined with what I've heard about Ivara, I'm starting to regret making my main account on console...    =S

  4. You used to be able to cast Desiccation on an enemy and then, while standing near the enemy, press "Circle" to devour them using Inaros' second ability. It seems this has become broken as the option to press circle only appears if you briefly start devouring them but stop right away. You are then able to press circle to resume devouring.   This seems to be a bug to me.   I hope it is, because it has made his already annoying PS4 controls much worse.

  5. In order to use the "Boost" function on PS4 you must press X, which one would normally do with the thumb. This means when Boosting you can't use your thumb to steer at all.  SO if you want to steer you need to force your index finger up over the controller to press X and then steer with your thumb. I have a rheumatoid disease so this is a particularly nasty maneuver.

My idea is you simply move boost to R3.  But ideally there would be a new menu entirely to customize the Archwing controls.

  6. If you sprint in Archwing and then fire your weapon, the bullets will come out of your body anywhere.   For example, if you are sprinting towards the player (facing the tv) and then fire your weapon, the bullets will fire out of the Warframe's butt. This will even happen if you fire while aiming. As long as you are sprinting, they to not align.

  7. So to make a long story short I quit Warframe a while back. Why? I had built the Mios, a weapon I had been craving for a long time and I was trying to get the stance. After more runs than I can count of Draco and a few others looking for Deflied Snapdragon, I lost it. I uninstalled Warframe, put down my controller and walked away. After I left I told my friend, "Sorry man, I left Warframe. I won't be able to play with you."  My friends response was, "I quit day before yesterday. I can't take grinding anymore."  So there you go.

But I waited for the new update and a few new weapons and changes and I CAME BACK!  So here are my thoughts, in bullet form:

-I went to start the Inaros quest, so excited. But you have to get it from Baro Ki'teer. WHAT?!? I have to wait for him? Why?  Thank god he was in the Relay early, due to the update I assume. So awesome, I went and bought the quest. Then you have to CRAFT it??? How do you craft an *idea* or a *goal*? It could have at least been a special tracker, or a key, or maybe the quest data was inside something that needed to be hacked and it takes 6 hours to do so. But putting a bunch of resources into an idea and waiting seems silly. Why have it crafted at all? Seriously, just let me do it. What does that 6 hours achieve? I'll tell you: Me losing patience and buying platinum to rush it. Sigh...

-Ivara. Very cool new Warframe, truly amazing creativity went into this one. But... the grind. Oh god and lord above the grind, the unholy grind hath my heart removed!  I instantly remembered why I left the game, though I intentionally avoided going after weapon stances. Spy is a fairly long mission, if you get all three consoles. And as nice as it is to have varied and difficult spy vaults, it's all meaningless when the rewards are literal garbage and the fancy spy vaults lose their lustre when you've done them for the 40th time in one day...

-Weapon stances... I want Decisive Judgement. It drops from Heavy Gunners, so that's not too bad, right? I haven't gotten it once yet. Do you know how many thousands upon thousands upon thousands of heavy gunners I've killed? Or me and my friend combined, given that neither of us has gotten it.   What about High Noon? Built the Redeemer a hundred years ago and I've never equipped it because I have no stance. When the new infested enemies came out I killed 800 Brood Mothers those first few days, and safe to say I haven't slowed down since. And not one single drop of that stance. So another awesome, unique weapon is moot in my inventory.

-New prime stuff! I'm not even joking, when I went to The Void the music gave me anxiety. I instantly related that music to doing the same thing over and over and over. I related that music to HUNDREDS of times coming to the end of a mission and getting the exact part I *don't want.*  I related that music to the worst enemy in the game, Nulifiers, and dozens of them all over the place making years of abilities and ability tuning, modding and practice worthless in an instant.

So I sat down and was thinking, "I would like to play some Warframe, so what will I do?"  Farming stances is out, because it's maddening. Farming Ivara is out, due to it being equally maddening. Void runs are out, because I've used literally ALL of my keys before quitting and got zero of the parts I wanted (Not one part. All my keys, not one part), Archwing is painfully boring, and there's another 5 1/2 hours on my quest so I can't do that, Simaris is kind of pointless and having to do the same mission TEN times in a row, scanning some dude, is just another form of grind and it's boring.    It's become almost impossible to get the new Weapons or Warframes without buying them, let alone the stances. So I just turned it off and played Valkyria Chronicles.

So a few recommendations, as an old player of the game.  Please, please, PLEASE reduce the grind. Oh my god it's so bad.     Add a bit more story. I would have taken maybe all of an hour to install some kind of story as to how the Sands of Inaros came about, why you needed to get it from Baro, why there is a 6 hour delay...etc.              MORE DIVERSITY, instead of ALL mods!  Sure you can mention Arcanes, but they're useless you have ten, and getting TEN of the SAME ONE is a grind beyond grind that normal people can't comprehend.

There seems to be utterly no reward for playing the game anymore. It's just a fount of unlimited frustration and swear words. Sands of Inaros is done today. Unless it can turn me around I'll be quitting Warframe again 24 hours later. I bought the PS4 Renown Pack, as a farewell gift and thanks for the hours of enjoyment I got before everything became the equivalent of grinding through tungsten with aged cheese. Adieu

  8. I need to start by saying I love Warframe and that I've put more hours into this than most game. In fact there was only one game that I played more and that game is Guild Wars (the original), and because of that I'll be comparing the two sometimes in this post.

Lately I've nearly stopped playing Warframe entirely, and so have my friends who started at the same time. We began playing when Warframe released on Steam many moons ago. Because of that start date I've seen unimaginable amounts of content added to the game. We're talking enemies, maps, Warframes, game types, weapons and features such as parkour and PvP. I could never say that this game hasn't improved more than most.

What I would say is that the additional content and delivery method of that content has turned down a negative route that is causing stagnation in the gameplay and has reduced the life span of the game. Many late and end game players are discussing it in-game and in comment sections around the internet so I wanted to take some time to lay it out clearly, piece by piece, and see what people think.

I'll start with a big one: What is the point of playing Warframe? I don't mean that in the philosophical way, I mean what are your goals? While there may be a lot "to do" in the game, I think the biggest problem is "why." The answer I always come back to is this: Items. No matter what you do in Warframe it always comes back to acquiring an item. It may be a mod, Warframe, Arcane enhancement, Forma, Kubrow egg, prime part or weapon. Of course the pursuit of resources is parallel to the acquisition of items. The one exception is when levelling up for the use of forma.

The hunt for items and the leveling up for use of Forma are both the same play method: Grinding. This may be the number one complaint with Warframe, and after a considerable amount of gameplay and, more importantly, the recent updates, the complaint may well be warranted.

In Guild Wars exploration was a huge part of the game. Finding different towns and cities, or trying to fight your way to them. There were special vendors in certain towns and also at the end of raids where you bought rare top-tier armor. Certain bosses and rare enemies had skills you wanted to capture. There were extremely varied armor sets. One of the biggest things was the total customization of your build.

Lets hit a few of those, starting at the end with customizing your build. In Warframe if you go into a room with 10 Nyx's there is a good chance that they will all have 80% identical mods, the only difference being level of the mods. Some of the Nyx's may even be identical in loadout. This happens in part because of what is known as "mandatory mods." There are mods you simply don't go without and because of how abilities work, many of them have one specific direction you want to mod them, ie. Radial Disarm needs range, Miasma needs strength (pre Saryn change).

There is no exploration in Warframe. If you've played for two minutes you know that you land on a map randomly made from a set list of tiles for that region. Once you complete that mission the area is scrapped and left behind. Exploring those maps yield nearly no reward. Opening lockers and chests provide meagre credits and resources that mid-end game players don't need, or a low level mod you have 600+ duplicates of. You can search for Medallions but only in certain missions and the medallions are not worth searching for as you can get more Standing by grinding a place like Draco in the same time it would take you to find the Medallions. Warframe may benefit from a large world map. Who knows?

Towns and settlements are expressed in the form of Relays in Warframe. This was a valiant effort to make a social hub for Tenno, but by my measure it is not fit for purpose. Firstly, all Tenno may speak at any time in the chat aboard their ship, so being in the presence of each other is not required. The Syndicate functions on the Relay may also be done aboard the Liset. Simaris is the only one that PvE players must visit in person, but many players are not bother to do his quests. Other than that the only function of the Relay is to house the Void Trader every second weekend.

The Void Trader was another attempt to add depth to player goals. Unfortunately the enhanced mods he sold only required minimal effort to obtain and his weapons, equally as obtainable, were unimpressive re-skins with tweaked stats. It was fun for a while, but after relatively few visits his entire stock was in the inventories of most players and they quickly grew tired of his visits.

Customization could be considered another muddied aspect. Warframe has five forms of customization: Helmets, accessories, skins, sigils and colors. Helmets and sigils can be obtained for free from missions or Alerts and some accessories can come from the Void Trader. Skins, colors and most accessories must be bought with real money unless you land some colors during a holiday. Most warframes have two skins or three at the most. It could be raised that the issue come from armor has no effect without arcanes and outside of that there is no gear to collect or upgrade at all. Some of this comes from the lack of varied weapon stats. Each weapon has its stats set in stone, unlike the loot system from Guild Wars or Borderlands.

The biggest problem by far is, once again, the Grind. Because of the afore mentions systems and styles, along with some not mentioned, 100% of the players focus is placed on getting "that next item," whatever it may be. With recent updates there has been outrage with regards to the stances of melee weapons. Players find themselves in game mode on one map for dozens of games back-to-back. Often there is no results even after the longest stretch of play, giving the sensation of wasted time. Most people grinding in a place like Draco is at max level with a Forma'd loadout and therefore will change nothing in between games as their only goal is the stance (or mod/prime part/warframe part). Some players will change Warframes and weapons in between games in an attempt to keep it feeling fresh, but such intense grind tends to over power those attempts given the sheer number of often consecutive rounds played. A common term is "Void Fatigue," referring to the agitation of having played only Void Keys for extended periods. This fatigue usually accrues because of the RNG constantly rewarding Forma or a already obtained prime part instead of the desired part.

It is my belief that this comes from having so many rewards and such limited ways to deliver those rewards. This is witnessed by the fact that there have been several waves of Prime items removed from the game, suck as Frost Prime and Mag Prime, to make room for new items. Clearly there is a set amount of space for rewards and that cap has been met long ago.

If player focus had more space to maneuver rather than only getting the latest item, it may not be as severe. Simaris seems to have been an attempt at broadening the scope but he ended up providing more repetitive gameplay. Having to blindly run through 10 missions and scan an enemy 10 times is not exactly exciting.

Lore in the game has always been very fractured and unclear, but as of U18 it seems a new light has shone into the story. But any player can tell you that even the "quests" are generally recycled versions of the existing game modes with dialogue thrown in. That dialogue is often very hard to hear and follow, and can even be interrupted by things happening in the game. Even ignoring that the objectives are not well explained. Example: "Hack three data and then we'll know where to go." What is the data? Why do the Grineer have this data? What did the data contain that allowed to you glean a next objective from it? Why is the boss who died in two separate quests/missions now cured and still alive?

Changes to parkour or adding charge attacks back are not opening doors for continuity. I know that Warframe is very different and maybe should not be compared to an MMO like Guild Wars, but I feel it should begin moving in that direction.

In conclusion I feel that Warframe will need an overhaul to continue its life or late/end game players will begin migrating away. The numbers are certainly excellent right now, but that does not mean they will hold, and even if the numbers keep rising it does not mean they want their veteran player base exiting the game.

I also think these changes are possible given the teams commitment and the creativity of the fan base. I'm sure there are ways to turn Warframe into the AAA game it can be and keep player new and old attached lovingly to the game.

    Take care.

  9. When going into the Operator/Focus room on the Liset, the Cocoon, or transference machine, is already open and does not play the animation of all the panels opening.

Right after finishing the Second Dream quest the animation played properly and when the door to the room opened, you say a closed machine. As you approached the panels all lifted and folded away, revealing the operator.

My friends in the game (PS4) also are having this issue.

I am fully aware this is not a big deal, I just think it was really cool to see the animation and would like to have it back.

    Take care

  10. During Missions, when the operator speaks, who is he/she talking to? When they use the word "we," it seems to break immersion to me and I'll explain why.

The Warframe is just an empty machine right? So he/she can't be talking to it. Besides, from the point of view of the Operator, they are going to sleep and waking up as the Warframe, right? As described in the second dream.

When they say something like, "I'll consider what I've learned from this fight," I'm right on board.

You could say that when they use the word "we," they actually mean "We the Tenno." But many people run a lot of missions alone, so it seems strange.

Just wondering out loud. Take care

  11. Charged attacks don't work very well in general.  I can't manage to charge attack at all with Final Harbinger stance.  Swirling Tiger and Blind Justice are really crappy to do charge attacks as well. I find the damage isn't really worth it either, considering the crazy warm up of having to swing and then hold it for ages.

  12. I think it would be a very simple addition that makes massive improvements to trade in general and of course to the relay.

When you make yourself "open to trade" you should select items you are selling, say a max of six items at once. You select a value for each item which represents your asking price. As a player looking to buy an item I could see a menu over the head or in front of a seller that resembles the "Current Alert" menu you see when standing in front of the navigation in the Liset.  So when you buy you can select the seller, as you do now, and purchase the items for platinum just like you would Darvo.

But what if you want to negotiate the price? Well you could still see the items for sale and PM the person, asking to lower the price or if that Seller would trade for another Prime part or something instead.

Of course that's not perfect, but Maroo's relay has laid the foundations for a system like this with many improvements.  And yes, I know that this is partly because we want to be more lazy. But.... yeah. ^_^

  13. Just got U18 on PS4 and man the sorties are not looking so cool.  I almost had a stroke after I had gotten Forma as the 40min reward literally 28 times in the void when farming for Primes. This seems like more aggravation.  People keep using the blanket argument of "It's an MMO." But I have to say, as an MMO fan I've never felt this outside of Warframe.   A boss often dropped what you wanted, or you were given a skill/item to acquire what you wanted from who ever.  Something that Guild Wars did was have a certain merchant at the end of a dungeon or raid, so you brought enough money or materials to buy what you wanted.  This RNG is killing the players lol

  14. I loved the Second Dream, but was very confused due to in-mission dialogue not taking place. I had to read up after to find what happened.

Example: When you go to Uranus to uncover the Grineer data there is supposed to be dialogue after each of the three hacks. Only the very last occurred, saying there was a message. I was wondering, "Why did she randomly want to hack Grineer computers and why were there messages for her in said computers?"

Example: When the Sentient speaks directly to the Lotus, saying he more or less sway her back to his side, the Lotus stayed silent. I discovered that she is actually supposed to reject his influence...etc.

The above described bug also took place during the Natah quest. This really took some of the spark out of those quests as I was very confused the whole time, but thankfully there's lots of material online to clarify.

Hoping this will get fixed, especially if quests are allowed to be repeated in the future!

  15. Just started trying to get all synthesis targets again and found I can't get them.

-What happens: Trap target and aim Synthesis Scanner to scan highlighted points. When pulling trigger to scan receive message: Codex Entry Complete. Will not scan any of the four points or target as a whole.

-Tested on two targets: Arid Eviscerator and Corrupted Ancient

-I had selected both individually with the console near Simaris

-Brought Helios with me on every occasion

This is as much as I can say about this bug. It's fairly simple. Can't scan, can't synthesize.

  16. Are people allowed to make full body sculpts for this new TennoGen stuff? I know they're making helmets, Syandanas and skins similar to the Immortal skins but I'm thinking more along the lines of the Nemesis Nyx skin.

I think it would be amazing. Some of the people submitting designs are talented beyond belief.

Have any of you seen the Arturius helmet? Can you imagine a premium skin to go with that. Utilizing the same theme of wedges, points and edges.

  17. I know this may all still be a work in progress and as yet there may be nothing nailed down, but I think that makes it more important to talk about it.

Scott was talking about having a benefit to zooming in all the way. I think it was increased critical chance.

That is not such a good idea.  The mandatory mod business confuses some people I know, but the same thing somewhat applies here. You'll make your build around the maximum crit chance and will feel like there is not even an option for using the first or second levels of zoom.

Sniper rifles just need a flat damage increase like shotguns received.  They are low capacity, low rate of fire and the one they showed in the last DevStream even had a charge time.  Compare that to the Tigris or Hek which simply devastate outright and have even been made to work at greater ranges, why would you even touch a Sniper rifle?

My point is Sniper rifles will be useless by the time you add it all up: Slow rate of fire, underwhelming damage, charge times, small magazine, frequent reloads, almost no sniping opportunities, AND must be zoomed all the way in for maximum effect no matter what range.

I can't see how Zoom was the big thing all the players were hoping for. This game has almost no opportunity to effectively use a sniper rifle on a good day, let alone with increased zoom distance and having to go all the way to that max level to kill. They should be approached as DMR's (Designated marksman rifles) with low to medium zoom, wide field of view with a fast acquisition reticle but have very high damage to compensate for all the negatives.

Instead of having the zoom/crit chance relationship maybe having something like this: When using the Optic headshots deal additional 50% damage. Maybe something like this too: When hip fired (Not aiming) enemies shot within 6 Meters are stunned. Just a couple creative things to make sniper rifles more fun and unique, not to mention viable.

I want snipers to work because up to this point they are not worth talking about. Careful adjustment could do the trick.

  18. These changes are very awesome. They make gameplay far more active and remove the "press 4 to win" thing.  Before, with the short duration builds, it took a big toll on the other abilities. But this is very creative and setting a great tone for future changes and warframes!   Love it, 100%

  19. I think Equinox is pretty sad. She was so complex and was supposed to involve strategy but really her night mode sucks and she has useless restrictions on her. For instance her Transformation "bonus" works less over time. It's crazy. How is it over powered to have the full armor bonus for 20 seconds?   Maim is her only really great skill. Press 4 to win. The rest is meh. Super duper meh.

  20. I want to discuss this very deeply because I have my own views and I also have the observations of watching hundreds upon hundreds of players doing what they do.

Equinox is of course the 2-in-1 Warframe with Seven powers who was released with update 17.  As with all new Warframes, when it was first released all maps and nodes became flooded with her/him. Because of this I was able to observe how people played as her and compare it to my own play style. I have a medical condition so I spend stupid amounts of time playing Warframe and literally experience hundreds and hundreds of players a week.  I want to make this clear so you understand my opinions and what I'm going to say here are grounded not simply in my own experience of Equinox but also watching other players.

The reason I say, "Seven powers and only one to use," is based on my observation of others. The vast majority of people I've seen play as Equinox, and I'm talking 99.999% of people, only use one power. They spawn into the map as Day form, and they ONLY use Maim.  I have NEVER seen even a single enemy "asleep" with the strings going to the floor. To be entirely honest I may have seen a total of *three or four* night form Equinox, and in that instance they use *two* powers: Transform to day form, cast Maim.

Another observation I made is this: Equinox dissipated very quickly. In fact I have only seen one Warframe disappear as quickly as Equinox: Limbo.   I am not exaggerating. Once the excitement cleared up, so did Equinox. I haven't seen a single one in three days, including today.

Now to my own point of view on this. When Equinox was being made and we knew what was coming, I was afraid she was going to be an "all season tire."   Barely useful in some ways, but overall ineffective. Unfortunately I think that's what we ended up getting, in my opinion."

I worked like a dog to get her parts, but ended up rushing the last bit with platinum, which I regret.  I leveled her up to max in no time and began exploring strategy.  After all that was the big deal, right? Strategy? "Switching back and fourth to use the right powers....etc"

Rest and Rage. I think Rest is often pointless because it affects so few people. They need to be shoulder to shoulder to have multiple people sleeping, unless you destroy the rest of your build with range. Once they're asleep they will even wake up before the duration ends if they're health drops to a certain point. For Bombards and Gunners that sometimes means they wake up and kill you with 5% health left. Rage is great, unless you cast on melee people because they move like the Stasis integrated enemies from Dead Space and nearly warp to your location. The limited AOE is an issue as well, I believe.

Pacify and Provoke. Pacify is nice until you look at Trinity's Link, which has 75% damage reduction, which cant be affected by power strength I know, but it dose 100% of damage back to three enemies!  Pacify has an aura that is really kind of small so for enemies outside of it you get 0% damage reduction, which is great. And there is no other benefit. We were starting to see a lot of layered effects in Warframe, but this is just a flat reduction in a small area. Now take all that and combine the fact that *even if* they are in the small aura, the farther away they are the less it works! The effect diminishes with distance...What?! Provoke confuses me. Not only does the aggressive Day Form not get armor or shield when he transforms, he is the one who buffs allies? Clearly the Supportive/Aggressive roles got confused here. This ability can be tolerated only because the cost is so low. But my issue is the pathetic buff. 20% is weak sauce. You should be jumping for joy to see an Equinox in your match. You should think, "Great! Now my powers will do enough damage to last a little longer into the game."  Instead you say, "Yay, I'll do like 30 more damage..."  That's me anyway.  Again, this aura is not big by any means, which I could understand if the skill wasn't as weak.

Then we come to the most polarizing of the skills. Mend and Maim.   I'm going to say right away, Mend is a joke. Mend is a not-funny joke that burns lots of energy to tell and nobody laughs.    This is an ultimate ability! Come on man!  Lets compare again. Blessing heals nearly 100% of health, *including* shields, instantly, to all allies and then gives a fantastic buff to you and your allies. If you time it right or get lucky you can pull off a 95%-99% buff.  Now Mend... You activate a skill that drains energy no matter how many enemies are near, no matter how many you kill to *save up* healing which you cast to heal *only health* in a small area around you!!  Not shields too, and only if you're within range!   Read this statement, "Whoops my health (or allies health) is getting low because I'm under attack and clearly overwhelmed. Just let me activate this aura, kill the enemies who are overwhelming me, save up enough health to be effective, then cast it again to heal only my health, and hope that my allies are close enough to benefit."     That to me describes a very very stupid ability.

I won't bother with Maim because you all know it's amazing. The only beef I have is how it initially does pretty much zero damage. I also hate how useless the bleed proc is and does not seem to scale at all. But if you can't tell, I now agree with all the people who played only as Day form and only with Maim. I too have actually stopped using Equinox, very rotted that I spent plat to rush her.

As I said, this is my opinion and my observations.   I am heart broken over Equinox. I thought we had gotten past this and people could tell a useless ability from a good one, and could say if a frame will last into endgame or not.

  21. This has occurred several times in Void Survival. It happened with Vauban each time. I have not had any time to test other frames.

What happens: A nullifier comes and the Warframe enters the field. Power use is prevented in the field. After the Nulifier dies, or the field is exited, power use is permanently prevented.  There are no nullifiers in the room but when attempting to use powers you receive the message, "Power use prevented."   This error only remedies when you die and revive.

    Thanks
