Carrier gives you ammo. Helios scans. Smeeta gives you random buffs. The MOAs hack, stun, etc.

    What, specifically, would Hyenas do?

Not really sure off the top of my head. Perhaps they could have an innate damage bonus against the enemy factions, for one. I did mention the thing with the secondary weapon like the Rescue Targets. In any case, I'd have to give that thought. Or like I also mentioned, if this is something DE wants to pursue, they could open it up to the Design Council for brainstorming.

i wouldn't mind a friendly Raptor armed with a few laser cannons and missile pods. bonus points if you can pilot it manually in more open areas/free roam.

otherwise, the only pet I really might invest in heavily would be a bird of prey, like Bloodwing from Borderlands. give me a combat birb and I'll drop as much forma as it takes to instagib enemies with it!

Oops, meant to respond to this one too. Birds of prey as in organic ones? Or robotic ones? In any case, I'd like to see that. One of their precepts could be a snatch and drop attack where they carry a non-boss NPC up into the air and drop them, though I guess that wouldn't work in enclosed buildings. Hmmm, perhaps pick the non-boss NPC up and throw it at the ground. Though when they hit the ground the body should explode throwing blood and meat and innard chunks everywhere. Could have them persist on the Warframes until they eventually fall off.

Why would we want more companion/pets?
From six Kubrow species, only one is worth using, the Sahasa for energy orbs. Then came the Kavat, arguably better in utility than any of the dogs, Adarza and Smeeta, with Smeeta being the superior companion all around due to it's Charm preset. Then we got the...MOAs "Oh gee modular companion, they will surely be great like the other modular stuff!" NOPE, just MR fodder with a higher tendency to be downed than dogs and cats. And just recently we got the long promised third Kavat species, the Vasca that while looks great, is otherwise useless.
Pet AI is bad, most of the precepts for their abilities are mediocre, they get downed with incredible ease unless you use a Warframe with high armor/health so that the link mods can help them stay alive.

Be that as it may, obviously there are some people who would like additional variety. Perhaps even making them more useful than their predecessors. I will admit the MOAs were kind of a disappointment, as were most of the Kubrows, especially before they got Fetch. However, I consider these things as a kind of accessory, I guess. Want something that looks kinda cool, hopefully DE will make them have some interesting skills/mods/precepts/etc. Perhaps they can have some of their innate attacks, like LN2's Ice Wave or Ng's Fire Wave. Or mkae them like rescue targets with the ability to give them your secondary weapon. At least that would be something new for companions. The pet AI definitely needs some work. As to the precepts, DE should just open up a topic in the Design Council for ideas, if they pursue this idea.

yay, more mastery fodder, just whats so badly needed right now.

I guess that's true, but there are lots of things that aren't really needed. Take for instance all the Ephemera they keep releasing, or Nightwave Armor sets, etc. They should just release those as cosmetics and monetize them via the Market costing platinum. At least then they'd have more opportunities of making additional money off of people who play Fashion Frame.

What would the gameplay niche be?

Hopefully another chance to make a good companion that is more useful than most of their previous releases.

Your idea has given me an idea (say that I would love to have an Hyena).

Imagine a system where all the enemy robots in the game drop pieces when they die. The pieces work similarly to how to assemble a Warframe or weapon in the foundry: when you have them all, you build it.

In this way we could assemble MOA's, Hyenas, Drones ...

The statistics of these robots would be similar to those of the existing partners (in strength and power), they could be modified with mods, the weapons obtained with them could be interchangeable, among many other possibilities.

That wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion, though that would make it require really low drop rates. And definitely would trigger's DE's love of tons of layers of RNG as some posters noted above. I guess the way we burn though NPCs, we'd get them eventually. Also, I dunno if the larger robotic NPCs would be practical...for instance, having a Jackal following you around and getting stuck in doorways and stuff would be kind of annoying.

I think they mean to cross reference the currently rolled weapon bonus versus duplicates they've already gotten in the past. Is it worse or better?

    Could be wrong though.

Yeah, that is exactly what I mean.

I guess I don't quite understand what the problem is here, the Lich screen
(button next to Nightwave in Navigation / the Escape menu)
tells you exactly what the elemental bonus % (and type) is way before you get to the kill / convert choice.

I said that, because other than preparing an external document/spreadsheet/whatever with all the past weapons and bonuses, I will not have access to the stats mid-mission. This is something that would need to be done while in the orbiter. That button in the mission will only show the current stats for the current lich. Which is why I said it would be nice if the stat screen shows a comparison of say, the next best weapon of the same type (Seer, etc.) kind of like it does with the stats for weapon/warframe/etc. build in the Arsenal screens.

  5. Awesome, thanks for the info! Didn't realize it was in the codex since I rarely go in there. I guess I will start up a document for easy reference since I'm not going to remember them and I don't have access to the codex mid-mission. Kinda unfortunate that the kill/convert UI screen doesn't give an indicator if the bonus is better or worse than the other weapons of the same type.

  6. Okay, I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't care... MOAs are okay/cute/etc., but I think a Hyena/Hyena-like robotic companion would be pretty cool to have. A number of my friends on WF agreed when I suggested the idea, so I thought I'd post the suggestion. Seems like it shouldn't be too too crazy to do since the assets are already in-game...just need to balance out the NPC's abilities, etc.

Awesome! Thanks for the video! Definitely illustrates the issue well. 🙂 Reminds me of one of those joke web apps that have a button that says "Click me" or whatever and they made the java have the button move away from the mouse cursor.

  8. Spoiler

This appears to happen whenever there are 4 invasion tabs (plus the Construction Status tab) and the 3rd to last invasion tab is more than a few lines. Earlier, I was just trying to quickly browse what was in the various invasion tabs and couldn't view the 2nd to last tab because the 3rd to last tab had a bunch of nodes listed. The behavior is when I try to mouse over the 2nd to last tab, the 3rd to last tab would expand and push the 2nd to last tab off towards the bottom. So basically, I can never access the Phobos tab because the Mars tab always opens up as soon as I mouse over Phobos. If I mouse down to the Phobos tab, the Mars tab collapses and my mouse is over the Fomorian/Razorback tab.

Did Warframes always have this weapon/device... where did we get it? is it something DE "intended" to implement... any Lore behind it I'm missing? Because all of a sudden we have this device/weapon attached to us.... I mean a get the Lichs and thier lore, just fuzzy on the Parazon..

Edit: any back story for the Parazon?

    Thanks @Renegade343

    We stole it from Robocop.

  10. They could also add a mechanism that will reduce the amount of unwanted lich spawns. Just make it so that if you don't interact with your lich, then the lich won't spawn again for the next say 50 or 100 missions. (Also make it so that if the extraction timer has been triggered in non-endless missions that no more liches can spawn and if there is a lich spawned it will not count towards the cooldown timer.) That will basically move the next spawn of the lich down the line for a few days or so. With enough people having this cooldown timer, there'll be a lot more opportunity for those who want to kill their liches to have them spawn.

Bear in mind, they supposedly increased Syphon relic drop rate to 50%, so you have to be really unlucky to not get a single relic in 6 syphon run ( 0.56 = 0.015625 ). 0.016 that is the percentage of chance of obtaining no relic at all in 6 consecutive Syphon Run when the drop rate is supposed to be 50%

Yeah, I dunno, the keyword is definitely "supposedly".... Both my friend and I (who have been running quite a few of the siphon missions) have noted the really lackluster returns on siphon missions. At least before we could run a flood mission and be "guaranteed" a relic...until we weren't.

They actually raised reward chance from 30% to 50%.

Seriously? DAMN. That must mean the drop rate is actually .00000000000000000000000005% instead of .00000000000000000000000003%... (But seriously, I definitely have not been getting an average of anywhere near their stated drop rate, even the 30% one. Pretty much stopped running regular siphon missions because of the abysmal return on time invested.)

    2 Kuva Flood
    6 Kuva Siphon

    0 Requiem Relics

    Drop rate change or bugged?

I'm pretty sure the siphon requiem relic drop rate is something like .00000000000000000000000003% or whatever. 😉 Maybe I'm tripping, but it seems waaaay lower than the 30% they said it was.

I think the most relics I get is from killing thralls in normal lich controlled territory missions. Thinking about it, why the heck do I even bother with kuva missions? Definitely am not hurting for kuva and much better results elsewhere. Hmmm.

    13 minutes ago, RowdyGinger said:

My last kuva flood rescue didn't reward a relic.

The kuva flood rescue before that one said something like "reward already received" and didn't reward kuva OR a relic.

I've had other issues with kuva flood missions not rewarding relics but I can't recall if they were rescue or not, I'll pay more attention.

OH! Yeah, I've had that randomly pop up and haven't figured out what they meant by "reward already received..." Like what reward?

  14. I was just recalling something that kept happening on various missions I was running.

I get that hacking isn't challenging (enough) or whatever, but could you stop trying to artificially increase the difficulty by overlaying the hacking UI with a huge "Requiem Murmur" (or whatever that thing said) with a partially translucent black box that covers most of the hacking UI for a good portion of the timer duration? I know there are other notifications and whatnot that love to grab screen real estate and add challenge by making it more difficult or impossible to see through...but could you not? Please? 🙂

they fixed that in the latest hotfix.

I agree we need better ways of farming these requiem relics.

Also, when farming thralls, wait until your lich spawns and don't kill them, they convert nearby enemies into thralls.

Ah, cool. I kinda stopped reading hotfix changelogs. I guess I should start reading them again.

As to the lich and not killing them...I usually opt to avoid killing it when I know I can't since it's an annoying guaranteed instadeath...exceeeeeeepppt... when chat is filled with stuff like, "Please kill your lich..." "Whose lich is this?! Come f***ing kill it!" etc. 😛 Then it's pretty much, "Do I want to suicide to appease my teammates? Did they ask nicely? Were they rude and now I'll suicide, let them complete the mission for me then revive when they head to extraction and move around a little?"

Hmm, DE should like change the option to do the Mercy thing to "Press [X] to slit wrists." when the game can see we don't have any Requiem mods equipped in at least all of the slots.

Didn't realize they directly converted npcs into thralls though. I just thought they randomly spawned them. That's good to know.

  16. Hmm, on the flipside, you could also punish the people who don't revive a downed teammate with a debuff for not contributing enough to teamwork.

Too far away to make it to revive that downed teammate? Too bad, not a team player, should've been closer. Was the one who was downed the one who wandered off on their own? Too bad, they just trolled you. Ignored that downed teammate and didn't feel like reviving? Merry Christmas, here's a debuff.

    😉

(Or we could just realize that there's not really a solution (that doesn't come with a bunch of downsides) to forcing team play on a player that may not want to be a team player.)

  17. I'm sure there is much I don't know about how this works, but from my experience, it seems that these liches are layers and layers of RNG BS atop of additional layers of RNG.

Yes, sure, you are guaranteed a Requiem relic from Kuva Floods. And that's great. And you can run regular siphon missions for a chance at more relics, and thralls might drop relics...

So, you have one guaranteed relic about an hour, and the rest are RNG for whether or not you get one from a regular siphon mission, RNG for how many thralls appear in other missions and RNG whether or not those thralls drop anything. Yes, I get that DE needs to timegate the content, etc. But looking at my map turn completely red while farming relics, getting a bunch of relics that AREN'T the type I need, and spending void traces on the measly few correct Requiem relic only to have it not drop anything useful due to further RNG is just annoying.

    1) Give us some way to farm relics of a certain type. Such as, if I want a Requiem I relic, I'd go farm Requiem I relics from a particular node/level/whatever. If I want a II relic, I'd go try at a higher level/different node/etc. No need to guarantee that we get a Requiem relic, but have it as part of a drop table. Kind of like how we can try to farm a Lith X or Meso Z relic by going to Y node, etc.

    2) Expiring the relics is okay, but might be nice to be able to recharge them with some sort of resource, like Kuva. Or perhaps make a resource sink for recharging the mods.

    3) Maybe give more variety in the drop rewards from the various Requiem relics, other than Kuva, Riven shards or fragments or whatever they're called, Weapon Exilus adapters... Perhaps have some overlap but have each relics have something different (other than the uncommon Mod drops)...

    4) Disallow the lich from stealing Requiem relics/Requiem mod drops from Kuva fissures... That's kind of lame, though I haven't had this happen to me yet, I did see another thread that complained of this.

I'm sure I'll think of more things as I keep playing, but just getting kind of frustrated with RNG.

  18. Yeah, I don't really like the trial and error part at the end with an unlucky guess rewarding you with instant death. I ESPECIALLY don't like when people in the mission guilt trip you/hound you into suiciding (if you don't have the right mods in the right order) because they want/need your lich dead often because the lich is just plain effin' annoying when it hangs around, though sometimes detrimental if it starts attacking a hostage/defense objective/etc. At the bare minimum, there should be some more convenient mechanism to get rid of the lich without being forced to suicide.

  19. I was quite annoyed and disappointed... Pretty much from when I started watching until the end of the stream, the website was crapping out and I couldn't even LOG IN to warframe.com. Nevermind being able to redeem a code...which requires you to uh, I dunno, log in?

Reminds me, I'm waiting to see if I actually end up receiving the Nekros Prime at all.

    Nvm, it came in.

(Hopefully not requiring we get twitch drops from another devstream, since those don't seem to be very reliable at all.)

  20. What I mean by "semi-instanced" would be to load a player either into a small room or preferably just load a UI that creates an ad hoc connection that the player establishes outside of the relay instance to wherever the Foundry data is stored without having EVERYONE or the server hosting the instance load every player's Foundry data.
