Afaik we cant give 4 different emessives, so it will be X effect that just takes color from the emessive. Wheter those beams are fire-pattern or tiny little leafs falling is the only thing I can controll. Can't make multiple effects.

That's totally fair, and true, I was thinking more have it be smoke/steam emissive that is a little more generic and would fit with more colors than just the fire element would. Just my two cents.

    chroma wip.

Tone down the flames by about 75%, and I'd say you're good to go. He'd be setting himself on fire with those flame-tusks, looks a little... overdone. Liking the WIP base so far though.

Also keep in mind that only one in four of the power sets is fire based, so... I'd suggest something that would look less odd for Cold/Toxic/Electricity users. Full bias here, I'm a Cold user 75% of the time and a Toxin user the rest.

    ANYTHING

No kidding. I confess the Infested are not really my thing, and I was annoyed that the Corpus/Perrin Sequence quest was side-tracked by theming it around the Infested... but all the same, I'd love to see more content for Nidus. I feel like him, Chroma, and Inaros need some love.

The new nova skin is finally up on steam! It took much longer than expected due to holidays. Also figuring out that I didn't know how PBR textures actually worked and having to learn how that process worked too a bit of time. (That's why everything was slightly more shiny/metallic looking on the previous skin)

The colors on the Sketchfab model are off but it's not that big of a deal since it's a different renderer.

Very nice, loving the update, looking really solid. This is definitely getting my vote.

  5. Well, are you going for an overall insectoid theme? With the helmet I can definitely see it, so maybe something leathery and rough to evoke the flesh between chitin plates. Sort of like the textures that Faven used for the Graxx Excalibur/Nyx shoulders, if you've seen that. Something rough and weathered to contrast the textures of the outer plating?

  6. Very insectoid/scarab-like, especially with the mandibles just over the cloth bit, at the bottom of the helmet. Looks cool, only critique is that the blue details at the front of the helmet look a bit too much like sunglasses over a smiley face, and now I can't unsee that..

I would futz with the geometry around the 'eyes' to obfuscate that shape a bit. Other than that, I'm loving this. I especially like the little ridged details in the blue material on the body, really makes the texture on the other materials pop quite a bit. Also, kudos to actually putting that strange metallic filigree on his chest to use, with the gold pieces.

Any chance on doing a Mesa Corpus design? Somethin like this below

Only problem I forsee with that is the inability for Tennogen artists to edit the actual *model* of the warframes themselves, so any details will be textured "flat" onto it... You'd have to be exceptionally clever to get a lot of the details in the reference to mesh well with Mesa's current geometry.

That said, I think starting by making her feet resemble the Comba/Scrambus skate-things would be a good first step. As silly as those things are, it'd be an existing Corpus design to tie into. The ammo pouches on her hips would be easy to give a sleek make-over, make them look like the little plasma-grenades that the Crewmen like to pitch at you ineffectually.

Helmet would probably have to be designed from scratch, using elements of the Comba/Scrambus designs.

This is relatively a new thing for me but I plan on making this into a "series" of Corpus themed skins so as long as they get accepted by DE and the rest of the community. I haven't thought about doing Nidus considering we can't alter the geometry of the low poly, since Nidus is super organic it would be extremely difficult (Corpus is very boxy and symmetrical). It's not impossible though since people have said in the past that it was impossible to make Corpus skins, I could come up with something for Nidus as long as I have an idea. I started working on Ash and Mag. I'll post some wip's soon!

    Ooooh, I'm excited for this!

I could also see Banshee (style the feet like those awesomely silly flying ice-skate Corpus units) and Vauban after that.

I think if people are wanting Proxy styled units, Volt's odd leg shape would definitely depict that well.

Thats why im not 3d artist, its just example for tennogen artist to be more open minded for him thats all..

I think the problem with that kind of design is that Tennogen CANNOT change the model of the warframe. They can change the helmet, but they're stuck with the base model for the body. Minimalism is key here, as is conforming to the base contours of the skin.

That's why I prefer skins like this for Excalibur over the overly-ornate things that a lot of other artists do like BeastBuster's blades of the lotus series. They look so *busy*, and with the exception of maybe Rhino seem sort of... pasted over the base skin. Well done to be sure, but it's a well executed implementation of a concept that's out of scope of Tennogen.

Again, to reiterate, minimalism is key.

It should bear the same functionality as prime frames, wherein upon having a mastery 30 (or being built I don't remember which) you get the ability to apply the non-primed version to the prime.

    would certainly be nice.

If DE wants to add a gameplay element to the customization, sure. I could think of a few options there:

    • Available from the get-go, since if you have the Prime/Wraith/Vandal/Whatever variant, you've 'earned' the 'lesser' variant's appearance.
    • Restrict skins to ones you have in your arsenal. Leads to hoarding/"gotta catch'em all" mentality, wherein players collect every variant in the quest for Fashion Frame.
    • Restrict access to skins to ones you have current *and* have owned in the past, where just the act of earning the weapon in the past gives you access to the weapon skin. EX: I have a Snipetron Vandal, sell my old Snipetron, but can still use the regular Snipetron skin on my Vandal variant because I used to own it.

I could see them adding elements like "you earn access to the default skin upon reaching Mastery Rank 30 with x" where x is either the weapon you want to customize, or the weapon you want the skin of.

Really I think the reason this is so much on my mind is that we can apply melee weapon skins to... well, *every* weapon of the same category, so I really don't see reason to restrict this overmuch.

Technically the primes came first, so it would...Why am I even trying to argue on somethinmg here?

    DE, please, we need this.

Yeah, the fact that we can apply the 'base' weapon's premium skins sets a precedent of being able to customize one's prime weapons to *not* look like the Prime weapons. Really, I feel like lore is secondary to aesthetics when it comes to a lot of things in Warframe, especially with the advent of the Tennogen projects.

  12. As far as aesthetics go, we all agree that more options are better. Looking through a lot of my appearance 'sets', I realize that I actually prefer default, less ostentatious skins than alternative ones like Prime weapons. There was a MASSIVE step forward in the ability to color Vandal and Wraith weapons (thank you SO MUCH DE!), but I would love to see the ability to "toggle off" prime skins and show the weapons' "parent" skin instead.

Best example I have is my Braton Prime. I adore the thing. I've sunk four forma into it. I could never go back to using the old, standard Braton statistically... But here comes the new Braton skin redux, and man does it look glorious, and man do I want to sport that. Using the Kintsugi skins as a stop-gap is like duct-tape to fix a leak, just doesn't feel as satisfying as the real thing.

Who agrees? Would you like to toggle off alt skins/use defaults on your weapons? Additions? Concerns?

yes, corpus energy is static, but then we`re tenno, we have the corpus designs even the corpus would be jelly about :D

Right, but, there's the hazy part. This is tenno tech copying Corpus tech... If I'm going to spend money making my Tenno look Corpus, I want them to look Corpus not Tenno. If I wanted them to look Tenno, I wouldn't spend the money at all. :P

this looks rly great so dont misunderstand my comment, it IS very nice. but if i were to note something that i would change it would be the big vertical energy part of the helm, the tip to be precise. the shapes on this skin are round for the most part (shoulders, back, sides and back of the head, knees, feet..) so i think it shouldnt be too straight. at least in my eyes. maybe try folding the tip of the "horn" back to make it stand out a bit less. the energy part itself is fine in my opinion, its just the tip above it.

another thing that i noticed is that the crotch armor or leather part, whichever material its supposed to be, the part covering his very most important manhood...to me it looks a bit like a diaper. putting a horizontal energy part like on the chest there to connet the round energy areas with the metal around them would maybe look better.

i took the freedom of editing ur picture a bit real quick to show u exactly what i mean, maybe u agree.

    [snip]

do you plan on giving the energy some kind of streaming effect ? i think it would enhance at least the chest and "horn" energy by lots if it was not just plainly glowing.

    Greetings

I like the changes, "belt buckle" makes the crotch-patch look like less of a codpiece, and the helmet angle looks okay. I do kind of like how prominent it was in the author's concept though.

As for energy, I disagree. The corpus energy tends to be static and constantly glowing, no pulsing or 'flowing', which seems to be much more of a 'tenno' thing. Yeah, warframes are a tenno thing, but this is a Corpus style skin, and you don't want to sacrifice too much of the Corpus aesthetic to that.
