    Applied Tactical Gaming is recruiting!

We’re a 14-year-old gaming community with a 4-year Warfame presence looking to fill out our roster with active players. All Mastery Ranks welcome!

What you can expect from us:

Shadow Clan: We’re hoping to advance to Storm clan with more active members!

99% Research: We have everything, even all the colors. But no Ignis Wraith :(

4-year-old Dojo: That means ours looks 4 years cooler.

    0% Clan Tax

Experienced and Helpful Officers: We have players from closed beta, Founders, and simple no-lifers.

    TS server!

Multi-Game Community: This is just our Warframe division! Feel free to hang out with other members in other games!

    What we expect from you:

You must be 18 years or older.

You must read our Code of Conduct before applying: This is pretty much the only thing we take seriously.

We accept all MRs, so you must be willing to help members who are new to the game.

You must be excellent to other members of the community. Most of this is covered in the Code of Conduct, however it always bears repeating. Respect each other and respect yourselves by being willing to discuss any community problems with clan leadership.

Things that are nice, but not necessary:

Working mic: Even if you don’t have a mic, hop in and let the social awkwardness flow through your speakers.

Community participation: We play lots of different games! Observe the majestic whales of Star Citizen in their natural habitat – raining endless Benjamins on a game that is nowhere near finished.

    A modicum FashionFrame-sense: Please…no walking McDonald’s signs. Just…please.

Still interested? Feel free to apply here with your IGN and on our website!

Our application process starts with you filling out your application (which is also our forum registration). Please provide clear, complete answers and read the Code of Conduct. Once your application’s been approved, you must post on our forums (just give a quick intro) at least once. Then, you’ll spend some time playing with officers and other members of the division. Once we’re confident that you’re not a lizard-person, you’ll be officially recognized as a full member.

    Hope to see you ingame!

In my humble opinion devoting all this time and resources for something that will be here then gone is not my idea of smart planning

It's not just the event, it's the framework for all future clan missions. I'd rather it'd be bug-free as possible on release.

Thank you for doing this, I was about to come snag myself a warning point on this thread with my response. Also... "xbow".

No need to get salty just because I can shorten five letters to one and everyone still knows what I'm talking about. Also, all he's talking about is felt recoil. Nothing he says addresses why my xbows have muzzle climb.

Then they would be beefed up Boltors. We dont need that.

Nah, boltors will still have their RoF, large mag, and decent reload. They'll be fine. Honestly, I'm just happy that powercreep has made it far enough that we can just call the Boltor Prime "good" rather than "disgustingly OP". It only took a year.

*sigh* See; "no recoil" might fly for normal x-bows but not for rapid firing ones. You saw that video someone posted right? now imagine that only 4 times per second; that IS, indeed, recoil. Also you have no clue what the firing mechanism of the X-Bows in WF is, for all we know they might split atoms to propell the bolts.

Again, muzzle recoil and felt recoil are not the same. Felt recoil could not be accurately depicted in this game, unless you're talking about weapon strong enough to knock you over. Since the Tenno are superhuman Space-Ninja-Wizard-Puppets, they don't really have to worry about felt recoil.

This wepaon doesn't actually have much recoil it just feels that way. Or mine was bugged yesterday. After the first shot (maybe the 2 first shots) it kicks up, yes, but when i compensated for that first recoil the other shots went almost dead center...

But I still don't feel like I should have to compensate for the recoil on a crossbow. Because it shouldn't have any. That's the point I'm trying make. Just like the Attica, the Zhuge is still a very good weapon stat-wise. It just doesn't feel like a Xbow (because it has recoil), so there doesn't feel like there's much reason to use it over my other pretty excellent guns.

    -snip-

Thank you...for explaining what felt recoil is and how it can be mitigated to anyone else who might be looking at this thread.

But I'm still talking about muzzle recoil and rise, which Xbows shouldn't have and yet they do. I'm not really sure what you are trying to address with your post.

I don't see what can be proven by comparing "real" crossbow to a "fictional" automatic crossbow that are completely different in design and mechanics and demand them to work exactly the same. Nothing will prevent DE from saying "it's a new futuristic mechanism that allows the bolts to be more powerful but causes recoils during launch"

Then let them say it. If DE_Steve or whoever comes in here and says, "Hey, they use compressed gas capsules in addition to a weird magnetic laser string to propel the bolt in addition to magnetic rails, thus lots of muzzle recoil on a Xbow," I will drop this forever.

But they rarely, if ever, explain how anything works in this game. The only guns we can even guess at are about half of the Grineer weapons, which seem to produce their own solid projectiles, while being fed propellant from chemical hoppers (Grakata, Buzlok, etc.). That's just guessing.

So until someone from DE gives me some applied phlebotinum explanation, I will keep asking for for zero recoil on my Xbows. Since we're arguing over the qualities of fake guns, just as easily as you can say, "Why shouldn't they have recoil," I can say, "Why should they?"

Once again: If the Grinlok is completely recoiless, why does every Xbow have more recoil per shot than either the Supra or the Gorgon?

Newton's third law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, the force applied to push the arrow forward would accelerate the crossbow backward, which with the crossbow being much heavier it can be that the weapon has enough inertia to resist being rapidly accelerated, but not totally negating the effect.

I guess I should have been more specific (I really shouldn't have to be). Xbows should not have muzzle recoil. Felt recoil (as demonstrated in that video) cannot be accurately simulated in game and is not simulated by any weapon in game currently. What we have is muzzle recoil, where the force of the gas pressure leaving the barrel results in the weapon being forced off target.

Xbows don't have muzzle recoil because they: A) Don't have barrels, B) Don't have an explosive impetus that propels the projectile resulting in gas pressure.

Again, I'd invite you to try a Xbow for yourself.

  7. 7 minutes ago, Ada_Wong_SG said:

The arrow or bolt used is relatively heavier compared to bullet, even with lower velocity it would pushes back on the firer

It might not be an issue for single shot, since bows are, but when firing in rapid succession the muzzle climb become rather annoying ?

Sorry guy, that's just not how recoil works, especially on bows and their derivatives. If you are interested, I would encourage you to look up a local archery range wherever you live and give it a shot (lol). I'm sure they also have a Xbow you can try out. Then we'll be on the same page.

  8. Maybe just a simple "weapon rack" decoration we can buy from the market, which we can place and choose what weapon(s) it displays, a la Elder Scrolls: The Sims Edition. A little Nikana stand (Nikanakake? <-doesn't know how Japanese works) for your 50-runs-later-Nikana Prime would be cool to take Warframe selfies with and show how no-life you are to the rest of your Warframe friends, none of whom actually exist (all in your head).

Otherwise, I'd rather have them work on other stuff, like Starmap 3.0.

  9. Title says it all. Crossbows don't have recoil.

For me, this is the main reason I don't use the Xbows, because the recoil on Xbows is less controllable then on my Gorgon or Supra, which is pretty silly. They're great weapons statwise, I love the flavor, I love the models, and I would love to use them, but then I remember how the Ballistica scatters its burst like a shotgun, how I can't even put Shred on the Attica, and now it looks to be the same for the Zhuge.

Simply, if my Grinlok is completely recoiless, if my Latron barely climbs per shot, why do Xbows have some of the worst per-shot recoil in the game when they aren't even guns?

Usability comes before stats, always. I'll stick with my regular bows and kunai for stealth.

  10. Have you been building Daiku for elemental?

Obviously. It's not about damage, it's about usability. With that firerate, it doesn't matter how much damage it does and if you can get 100% status with just 2 status/dmg mods. Every other bow easily outclasses the Daikyu in damage alone, thanks to 100% crit, not to mention double the firerate (at least). There's not really a reason to use it.

  11. The Daikyu doesn't really have a place in this game right now. As a single-shot killer that can't single-shot heavies past 30-35, it's difficult to justify using this weapon. That said, it does have some nice advantages over the other bows:

    -Faster Projectile Velocity

-No velocity loss on passing through enemies/obstacles

    -Very little projectile drop-off

These kind of give the Daikyu a "sniper-bow" feel. I realize that in this game where you rarely have to shoot an enemy beyond 50m, every bow is kind of a sniper weapon, but the Daikyu makes it much easier to land shots (especially headshots) on far targets and hit enemies behind cover. I think these qualities are reason enough to have it act more like a sniper rifle than as a bow, using the new combo system and maybe a scope.

For a Combo bonus, I think a simple damage bonus (like the Vectis) is fine. Even though it's the weakest (IMO) combo bonus for snipers right now, it's better than nothing at all and Daikyu wouldn't benefit much from the other types of combo bonuses.

For a scope, something like this would be cool, but with much less opacity:

    abstract-digital-blasphemy-tunnel.jpg

It gives sort of a digital-zen feel and a tunnel-vision effect that I think would fit a bow.

Or you can just go with a bow scope look, even if that's a little boring:

    2200081_eye_1.jpg

I feel like these changes would help make the Daikyu a more usable weapon, at least in game modes that are less rush-y, like Defense and Interception.

For PvP, I can't really say anything since I've never used the Daikyu in PvP. I got killed by it once, but I feel that if you can actually hit someone with the Daikyu in PvP, you deserve that 1-shot kill. From what I've seen, most players just die before they can charge it.

  12. Concerning this thread: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/536955-isnt-the-mantis-a-step-too-far-into-the-rng-direction/

The method of obtaining pieces for landing craft pushes RNG-walls to a new level.

Should we treat the new landing craft as a more cosmetic choice (and so is intended to be purchased with plat)?

Will there be changes to how landing craft can be obtained in the future?

It just feels that these were never meant to be actually obtained through gameplay.

  13. What I think it should be:

Heavyweight: Rhino is unaffected by enemies in his path. Enemies that he collides with do not block his motion; instead, they are pushed to the side.

Just a simple QoL change that makes it easier to get around while emphasizing the heaviness of the frame.

I do like your ragdoll idea, though. It shouldn't be that potent without an augment, though; perhaps sprinting into an enemy with IS on should just cause a light stagger.

I wasn't thinking that the ragdoll should be something crazy, like the Jat Kittag Ground Slam, just knocked back and knocked down. Ragdoll just looks better than a blast/impact proc.

  14. Unstoppable: When Ironskin is activated, sprinting into enemies will cause them to ragdoll (or 100% impact/blast proc, but ragdoll would be more funny). When a tile is in Lockdown, sprinting into a locked door with Ironskin activated will destroy it, but will consume the remainder of Ironskin.

Could be a fun passive. Can't have every passive just be more numbers.

Also, I can't find a good gif for this. Someone else do it.
