Sony doesn't like cross play. They've shown that before, so unfortunately the chance of that happening is low.

They just don't allow cross-play with rival consoles (Xbox and Switch), there's a lot of cross-play titles on ps4/ps3/psvita. DE doesn't allow cross-play between consoles and PC because of updates and updates schedules (also certification process on consoles takes time).

So no, you're wrong in saying Sony doesn't like cross-play.

He is correct.

Sony openly refuses to initiate in crossplay. The reason for this is because THEY DON'T LIKE the idea that someone can buy a bloody cosmetic on one platform and use it on their system so they don't get the profit from it.
Good luck finding games that cross play with Vita nowadays. The vita is a dead console, with no support. There's no new crossplay to PS4 with that anymore.

Btw, Microsoft offered Sony the cross play servers AND WOULD PAY FOR THEM TOO. Why Sony didn't accept this is baffling, as they are now being heavily ridiculed for that decision, which will likely affect their sales of the PS5.
The only thing going for Sony now, is Exclusives. Something that really REALLY needs to go in the gaming industry. It's not healthy for gaming that one person gets to play a really fun game simply because they like another system, so instead have to spend another 300-400 just to play one game they want. It's not good.

No sorry, you're just wrong. Even Fortnite, the game that began all this mess IS ACTUALLY CROSS-PLAY on PS4 (with PC and Mobile), Sony has been doing cross-play since PS2 (with FF XI, funny enough this was even cross-play with XBOX 360 and PC of course). Vita being dead means nothing, that's what started the cross-play movement.

Microsoft on 360 tried cross-play with PC and then stopped cause it was a failure (Shadowrun). About them willing to pay Sony for cross-play is something you have to give proof of since there's no article talking about that. It's also nice that you have a crystal ball and can see in the future, how are PS5 games? 😜

You have to understand that PS4 being the market leader is what spung Sony's refusal of cross-play with rival consoles, it's natural for it to be this way, it makes perfect business sense, people might not like it but that's how it is, maybe it'll change in the future, who knows.

Exclusives exist to incentivize people to buy a specific platform, they'll never will (and shouldn't) go away. Imagine buying McDonald's food at a Burger King, that's not how brands work, everyone want to cut themselves a piece of the pie and they don't wanna share it with anyone else (AND EVERYONE WANTS THE BIGGEST SLICE), capitalism my man/woman.

I want CROSS PROGRESS. 

Does not need to be universal on all platforms. Just Switch and PC for now. 

If the other platforms decide to play ball, bring them in. Otherwise, each on their walled garden.

My progress on either PC or Switch saves to the same database - not copy/migration shenanigans. I want my progress, inventory etc. to be one and the same.

Stuff which was released on PC first, that is not yet available on Switch just becomes hidden on Switch until the release update comes out. 

PC-only equipped cosmetics on loadouts just load edo armor on their place. PC-only Warframes and weapons equipped load the most used Warframe/weapon on their place.

Don't need crossplay right now, although it would be nice. 

Just don't have the time, pockets or will to copy my account and level up twice.

Maybe it's time to start re-evaluating the way the ports have been handled to allow for some crossplay even if it's just X1, Switch, and PC (since Sony is pretty adamant on being walled-off).

 

While it would be a significant undertaking considering the differing methods that Tennogen is handled, along with updates, no better time to start looking into how it can work than before a new platform is getting the game ported to.

 

Honestly wouldn't mind if there was just no trading between players on differing platforms if needed.

In regards to updates, could have an opt-in route that allows for people to agree to "testing" updates that haven't passed the normal cert process.
