Rivens are implemented very poorly and I don't know if DE cares

It’s working as intended, more unused weapons are getting used, and DE is making a lotta money from them as their the most expensive item in the game besides prime chamber

The funny thing about it, the only roll people consider to be ‘good’ is a one that has the usual generic stats that’ll make the wep ‘good’, they don’t look at the stats of the wep, what it’s missing, what mods in the build can be replaced with the riven...etc. the idea that if a Riven doesn’t have these ‘god’ stats then it’s bad riven needs to change

And I’m gonna day it, it’s rng, you just had bad luck which all of us will face. And the one Sheldon talked about was direct plat/money to change something random, that’s not what Rivens are. You spend a currency you cannot buy with irl money....you could buy the riven but that’s the whole point

Exactly, exactly, one thousand times exactly.

People want perfect rolls or nothing, good rolls are EXTREMELY common and go for like 10% the value of a so called god roll, which is like, only 20% better, something for veterans to dump their plat on and brag some little.

Of course this will be the unpopular opinion but DE shouldn't give in to this generation of people who want always the easy way but ironically want the best or nothing.

Also, for the record, 55k kuva is nothing, people spend hundreds of thousands and get happy with their good rolls and happier if they score a god roll.

It's the glass half full, half empty scenario.

Spot on.

The real idiocy isn't the RNG mechanic, but that so many only tries to get their own "god" roll.

This simply comes from looking at rivens from the wrong perspective. A riven is not something that should desperately be forced into some current "meta", since the chance of actually achieving that is quite low. Instead a riven is a procession of chance (RNG), and it is up to you to evaluate and make use of whatever comes, starting with the weapon it is for when you unveil your riven.

As many have already stated, there is a multitude of weapons that are beyond good enough even without rivens. Trying to push such weapons into some "god-sphere" by using RNG rivens makes sense only in a few very select situations (like doing multiple tridolon hunts during one night), and even then there are almost always other ways of achieving the same effectiveness/damage output.

That there are players feeling a need to absolutely maximize their weapon is the human factor in play, not something that is actually needed for playing the game. And due to chance/RNG rivens are not very good for this, if you take into regard the chance that you get a riven from the daily sortie, the chance that it actually is for the weapon you need, and then the chance of rolling and re-rolling it.

However, while rivens basically suck at a god-meta-function, they instead shine as a flavor-function. Rivens can add and push functionality to weapons that are impossible to achieve without them. And rolling an interesting combination (that also increases weapon effectiveness) has a much, much higher chance than getting a god-meta roll. You just need to open your mind to the fact that while RNG rulez, you have the power to make something of whatever it serves up. Take that chance, instead of desperately and singlemindedly going for some god-roll you don't even need, gamewise.
