Oro-Drive, The new way of Channeling

Imagine a bloody battle. Your sword slicing through hordes of enemies. The pressure of the battle ever rising. Suddenly you reach a threshold. New power awakes within your warframe raked by the blood of your enemies. An aura of light and energy engulfs you. You channel your inner Oro and reach a new state of prowess. Each swing of your blazing sword now fells an entire group of enemies. No one can stop you now.

This, dear Tenno, is Oro-Drive. A mechanic that could replace channeling in Melee 3.0 and repurposes the combo counter.

Mechanically it would work similar to the syndicate buffs. While hitting enemies with your melee weapon drawn you accumulate points for the combo counter as usual. If you reach a certain number of points (~60) your warframe activates Oro-Drive and receives multiple buffs. As long as your combo counter doesn't decay you stay in Oro-Drive. After one minute of constant Oro-Drive or when switching weapons your warframe enters a short cooldown (~15s) and your combo points reset. (At this point I completely ditch the current combo point mechanic because we still don't know how they will work with Melee 3.0.)

UI elements would inform you about your combo points, buffs, the remaining time in Oro-Drive and the remaining time of cooldown. Cooldown could also be displayed as little fired circuts and shorts appearing randomly over your warframe.

Buffs from Oro-Drive would be:

  • full regeneration of health and shields when Oro-Drive activates
  • stylish channeling effects for your warframe and melee weapon
  • increased melee attack and movement speed
  • increased melee damage and range depending on the amount of combo points

Also the current channeling mods could be reworked to allow additional effects while in Oro-Drive:

  • slow regeneration of energy (2/s)
  • 50% damage reduction
  • 200% damage reflection
  • immunity to status effects
  • health regeneration per melee hit
  • shield regeneration per melee hit (granting overshield)
  • additional elemental damage (one mod for each element)
  • increased status chance
  • increased critical chance and damage
  • granting an aura that is increasing the damage dealt by nearby allies
  • granting an aura that is reducing the damage dealt to nearby allies
  • and so on~

So whats about Naramon you ask? Well, their node could be reworked into something like:

  • increased maximum duration of Oro-Drive (+30s on max)

And if you wonder WTH Oro is: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Oro
