Why are people so against riven disposition changes?

I just hope personally that existing rivens will be untouched, despite the current system. Locked, for exemple. Meaning no more trades or roll for these particular rivens.

This system should of ALWAYS been automated. A weekly "refresh" based solely on actual use statistics (with some weapons omitted for obvious reasons, MK1 weapons for example). Everyone goes to one weapon, the automated algorithm goes "Oh snap! Better kick it down a notch." And weapons that aren't used at all get bumped up the list to actually just even try to fulfill the intended function of this entire feature. This would mean the Riven market wouldn't be this insane and the meta wouldn't be this unbearable. 

As some have said, the system has settled for too long and thus people have gotten complacent and developed a "norm". So any changes now would seriously upset this status-quo and great many people would lose their collective sh*t. Those who just bought a "godly" (a term that makes me want to punch a kitten) riven only for it to become "Quite nice" a day later and those who hoarded a boatload of these for the exact purpose of a stockmarket levels of trading only for their stock to be worth a lot, lot less. Those are the two categories who will salty the most.
