SpacePenguin
I expected scarves to be stealthier and more serious, but I guess they wanted to make them as fancy and whorie as possible.

EvoSigma
I must admit that the style of the scarves seem... a little odd for a fast paced space ninja game.
Fundance
I must admit that the style of the scarves seem... a little odd for a fast paced space ninja game. Oh really? Yeah no. Scarfs are a staple of video game ninjas since like forever. By adding scarfs to the game, DE are referencing a LEGACY. Get educated before spouting nonsense that scarfs don't 'fit'. ValhaHazred
I have no idea where people are getting the idea the Tenno are supposed to be anything but a super-stylized distillation of videogame and anime ninja tropes, with a side order of Gyver and Kamen Rider. Did you expect historically accurate Space!Ninjas!?
FoxRabbit
You will be able to choose it if you want it or not, it's not going to be mandatory. But personally... I wouldn't want someone to grab a hold of the chain around my neck while I'm doing a mid-air somersault. It tends to be rather... imprudent of me to forget about it., or when I'm wall climbing and being dragged back down from a Gineer Elite by my leash. Did you expect historically accurate Space!Ninjas!? Exactly. Tenno are something like a cross between Gray Fox, Guyver, Kamen Rider and Hotsuma from the PS2 version of Shinobi (which was doing hi-tech ninjas long before) It's really disheartening to see how many players don't understand the references, so when something with actual relevence gets added like this, they complain because it seems 'silly'. That'd be like playing a 2D fighting game and complaining about a Dragon Punch style attack having invincibility frames.
FoxRabbit
If anything I can see it eventually giving minor stat bonuses such as movement speed or sprint speed, additional armor for squishies, maybe bonus 50 hp or 50 power, or a few other very minor things that don't come to mind. Either way, the dev team seems keen on it so why not enjoy this wave and take a chill ride? It doesn't seem to be hurting you at all, so you don't need to cry out about it. Do you honestly care what the random person is WEARING when they join your 4 man group for a level 60 defense mission? No, you just want them to hit that AoE or Snowglobe on queue and not constantly be bleeding out every 3 seconds.
SethSamson
im not saying that "scarfs" would be bad ... but what i saw in live stream ... disturbed me greatly as an visual artist cause i my twisted mind what i saw is this http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/09/24/fashion/25119441.JPG instade of http://photos05.redcart.pl/templates/images/thumb/3129/0/0/pl/0/templates/images/products/3129/14-1152196346_2.jpg and i must say that from what i know .. NINJAS ... never used such things in battle .. cause it obscure their movement which needed to be fast and undetected imagine this ... you are an ninja ... u swinging your sword and ups your arms are caught up in scarf ... u jumping rolling etc through tight spaces ups your scarf caught up on sticking out nail ... and don't mistake ninjas... shadow warriors ... with samurais which indeed uses colorful armor like peacocks to let everybody on the battle field knows with whom they are messing up .. EganMC
I don't mind scarves, solely because they seem more like a kind of cape, which (while not exactly "badass") is still an interesting feature. I think the point of scarves is just a method to distinguish people who pay for platinum endlessly and people who build stuff themselves.

If you're indeed a visual artist, you should be familiar with design trends in gaming. Look up Shinobi, Look up Samurai Shodown. Look up Strider Hyryu. Look up pretty much any other pop videogame ninja franchise in existance (which is more what Warframe is based on in the long run) and you'll see that shinobi are depicted with over-exagerrated, beautiful flowing scarves. They aren't intended to be functional, they're intended to be stylish. SAMURAI in videogames are practical. NINJAS are stylish. SoulEchelon
Guys. It's a video game. Not only that, it's a totally optional item. Not only that, it more than likely won't have stat boosts since DE_Steve stated clearly that he regretted adding stat boosts for helms to the game. Long story short: You won't be missing out if you don't want it. But if you do want it, grab one when they come out and enjoy. Also, as for it being a "chain" or a "leash" as someone so kindly put it, I suspect at least some of these scarves are ethereal, thus can't really be "grabbed". I'd also expect Tenno would like to be both stylish and practical, thus probably coated the non ethereal scarves with some sort of "non-grip" agent. or maybe it's connected to their frames' energy source, thus if something tries to grab it, they get shocked. Or some other zany explanation. REMEMBER GUYS, THIS IS A GAME. NOT SUPPOSED TO BE REALISTIC. Edited September 5, 2013 by SoulEchelon
Fundance
You forgot Bang Shishigami! Wow, how could I have forgotten Bang, one of the most recent and most blatant examples of the video game ninja trope there is? (he's basically a parody of videogame ninja culture in one character) I have dishonored clan Puppy Hot Box.
