Fast Movement Free With Crouch Spamming

Surely I must not be the first one discovering this, but since I haven't seen anyone else doing it yet, I decided to post it.

It started when my pinky on the left hand started to become numb due to the default keybinds, which put sprint on shift and crouch on ctrl. So I decided to start using toggle sprint, which I bound to Q, and I do hold crouch with Mouse 5. I can't imagine doing this trick in any way with the default keys.

I was aware that you can still do the infinite sprint-slide-jump-slide-jump... trick with toggle sprint, but I always found that unpractical, because it's hard to control your direction, and if you happen to run out of stamina after jumping, you stop sprinting, which disrupts the combo.

What I found instead is way simpler and easier. You just run with the toggle sprint on, and then, you just spam the hold crouch key. The animation is a bit wonky, your character wants to slide, but you never give it time to do it properly. The benefit is twofold.

Once in about every second to forth crouch key spam, you get a smallish speed boost that normally comes when you start the slides. During this boost you lose some control, but it's nothing major. Essentially using this method I can move around without a Rush about as fast as I could normally do with a maxed Rush. At least I think I can, I haven't actually tested it yet.

The other advantage of doing this is that you pretty much have infinite stamina, because you're "sliding" half the time, and during that, you regenerate stamina.

I didn't post this to the bugs section, because it's not a bug, it's a small exploit, that only makes grinding a bit quicker, and should be one of the last priorities to be fixed. You know, WAY after we have enemy AI, player trading, balanced weapons and warframes, and Derf Anyo :D

Most of us already know this LOL.

Then why can't I see anyone doing it?

Maybe the game only starts to do the sliding animation for the player doing it, and doesn't send it to the others? Or is it because I only play with n00bs from matchmaking? :D

They already nerfed it. There used to be no cooldown for the speed boost that slide gives, which was pretty hilarious.

You gotta wonder though...

If they know this exist... if they took the time to nerf it... why didn't they fix it? How hard can it be to not give a speed boost at all, but increase the overall speed of the slide instead? Or to only start regenning stamina after half a second?

Doesn't the fact that they choose to handle it this way, means that they consider this very much "in the spirit of the game"?

I thought this was common knowledge as of February...

I know I was doing it before these threads were posted, but...Not sure when I discovered it. Mid January?

lol i randomly discovered this one day just cause I like to find ways to make the animations gib and jitter, this was one of the few ways I could find and also gave a speed boost, doesn't work that much but its still funny to use, but true I do wonder how come I don't see any but myself using it...I thought it'd be a common thing to do once I found out about it

One reason why you may not see it is due to latency. If you're really quick on the crouch button, all someone else might see is a speed increase without any apparent crouching. At least, that's my experience. I play with a few people whom I know to be crouch-running, but I never see it. I do, however, see them moving in fits and starts of speed.

The biggest problem with it is Warframe isn't just one flat terrain. It has many obstacles that require control to move around and above; control you can't get with crouch spam.

Zorencopters far surpass any other horizontal movement, though.

This is called 'Wavedashing'

The reason you don't see other people doing it is because the sliding animation doesnt propagate to your client during these tiny slides. All you see is their little Rhino feet going crazy as he blows by you.

Also, dont spam crouch, there is a cooldown on wavedashing and by spamming crouch you are actually slowing yourself down. Learn the cooldown (~1 second) and time your wavedashes accordingly -- you will end up going much, much faster.

Two things:

1. It's really not that much of a boost anymore to warrant repeat use.

2. These kinds of tricks usually remain put after discovery (perhaps with a little balancing to prevent them being too silly) as advanced moves for the player base to discover. Much like the quick reload glitch from ME2 being carried over on purpose to ME3.
