"v" Polarity

Recommended Posts

I have never seen anything that looks more like a lowercase "r" in my life, save for a lowercase "r".

Who first said that it was a V.

How did he think that it looked like a V.

Why did he think it was a V.

This makes me angerly. Discuss.

well it depends on your handwriting...It could be a V, an R, some obscure Japanese character................................

Let's just call it "Offense".

V is just the established name. Like Potato or whatever else.

It looks like an italic V to me.

Lower case 'r' doesn't have that 'curve' starting at the bottom of the letter. It starts in the upper half of the letter. Maybe a pair of glasses would help here.

V has no curve. Any curve that it may have during cursive and/or sloppy writing will be in the exact opposite direction.

It's a lot closer to V than to r. You probably have to work on your handwriting. Off to school with you.

because the V polarity goes well with the D polarity. Meanwhile others might want a Bar instead so it also goes well.

Am I doing it right?

"HE" COULD NOT BE THE FIRST ONE TO SAY IT SEXIST!!@!!!!1111!!!1111111!!

Aside from that, you know V is the officially used name. No use fretting over a name for something. You could call it Offense.

let's see if you can find the difference

upwards stroke of r curves to the right

upwards stroke of polarity curves to the right

upwards stroke of v curves left if not diddly

downwards stroke of r is vertical

downwards stroke of polarity is vertical

downwards stroke of v is less vertical unless italic

And now imagine if the right stroke on the v was inverted. What would it look like?

You are welcome.

"imagine if the v looked like an r"

r is completely connected up to the top of the letter, where it splits directions. Curving downwards to the right and having a tail to the left.

That polarity has no "stalk" at all. It's split the entire way up, like a V, or a checkmark that's been drawn too evenly.

it looks almost exactly like my cursive lower case Vs. Interesting fact, the shape of your letters can differ a great deal depending on where and by whom you were taught, as there are different teaching methods that result in a different final outcome.

Guess it's a good sign if we're scraping this close to the bottom of the barrel for things to get angry about
