Track and Tranq: Animals die instead of being tranquilized

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong, but it seems most of the times I try to shoot a Sunny Pobbler to tranquilize it, I end up killing it and Biz gets mad about it. Out of 4 or 5 hunts I've only succeeded one so far. At first I thought maybe I wasn't supposed to shoot them in the head, but when I shot one in the back running away from me, it still died. This happens no matter how I do the echo lure, I've found. If I'm doing something wrong, can someone let me know?

I'm pretty sure this is a bug, since I've never had anything die due to a tranq dart. Make sure you're not using Volt, as his passive will add damage to the dart and kill your target, and make sure you only tranq them once, since I've heard reports that multiple tranqs can kill the animals. Otherwise, it's probably a bug. Double check your gear, mods, and aura to make sure you're not accidentally using anything else that could boost weapon damage by accident, but you may have to just wait for a hotfix.
