"Viral" weapon effects are weirdly displaced

I had similar things happen with other effects, more prominently a blinking light that stuck around a bit to the left of my crosshair for an entire misison, but thankfully disappeared after I headed to the orbiter again. The viral "smoke" effect on melee weapons makes the bug easy to replicate, though. Happened whenever I used a melee weapon with "viral" on it, although not always in the same place. Example screenshots with another warframe, after I changed my loadout completely:

 

 

With Orthos Prime it showed up behind me and out of the way, instead of close to the crosshair. Not as easy to see on the screenshots as it is in video form, sorry.
