Can older beam weapons get updated hit effects, like the Kitguns?

Synapse is especially jarring since the hit marker looks like small electricity blotches (it used to be Electric element before being changed to Corrosive), and since it's not big enough you can see the beam texture being cut off. It also doesn't match energy color (always purple).
