Funnily enough this is exactly what the change was made to stop. They wanted the ramp-up, they don't want you being able to use Saryn as a mini-nuke. People already complained about that when Miasma was able to be minimum-Duration and concentrate all of its damage into a single burst.

It's the one function, I'm fairly sure I mentioned it, that was literally sacrificed in order to make the whole Warframe stronger overall.

I prefer my way of playing saryn, using concealed explosive spira prime to pop spores.. at least i need to move and keep my distance from self-damage..
