Grimmstyler
Watching Prime Time or Devstream, Why do i need to whisper Warframe in chat with my in game alias and platform i play on when my account is linked to Twitch? Couldn't Warframe just drop the prize in my Inbox? Edited December 3, 2018 by Grimmstyler
Katinka
a) It's a holdover from the old days before account linking. b) All people logged in to Twitch are eligible even if they don't have an account linked. c) So that you can choose for the prize to go to an account that isn't the one that's linked if you have multiple accounts (e.g. on different platforms). d) It requires active participation by the winner, showing they actually watched or at least looked at the "Thanks for watching" thread. e) All of the above? Grimmstyler
@Katinka c) Why isn't Warframe cross platform? Don't you need to make a separate account on different platforms? That would require a second email? Then a second linked twitch account? Edited December 3, 2018 by Grimmstyler

Pure speculation here but I'd guess that with the game being free they want to lock down customers and make sure people don't buy their plat elsewhere. If you could log in from either a Playstation or an X-box and choose which to buy your plat on then they'd be competing directly on prices, never mind PC players flooding trade with the 75% discounted plat that consoles can't get as a log-in reward. 8 minutes ago, Grimmstyler said: Don't you need to make a separate account on different platforms? You can also currently watch with an account linked to your PC account for Twitch Drops but ask for any prize draw winnings to be added to your Switch Warframe account if you like. Not sure why anyone would, but the option exists.

For the same reason updates aren't released for all platforms simultaneously: because it's more difficult for updates to be implemented into non-PC platforms. The owners of the various platforms insist on monitoring content to ensure it does not compromise the console. A good example of why this is done is Deltarune - the earliest versions of the demo would delete the folder it was contained within when uninstalled. Even legitimate releases by well intentioned developers risk damaging the system. Most console devlopers are liable for damages caused by software they officially support. Did that result in a lawsuit between the console developers and the game developers?

No. It is merely an example of how a defective product could damage the system it is installed upon.
