Why was warframe not even nominated in this year's game awards?

Recommended Posts

The other companies had more money to throw at a meaningless awards show that doesn't truly give out awards, it gives out ads.

Which is? There's always time to accept an award for all your hard work.

You're talking about the same awards show that nominated Destiny 2 for best ongoing MMO last year all of 2 months after it launched. 'Nuf said, if you ask me.

Nominations are weird. GoW and RDR - yes! Detroit: Become Human... well, it is a weird mix of brilliance and cringe. Monster Hunter and Fortnite are good from what I heard.

And then there is EA nominated for Best studio/Game direction. And Destiny 2: Forsaken for Best ongoing game...

Not sure that Warframe has what it takes to complete with such opposition.

game awards? i think you are confused, surely you ment game farce that only nominate whoever pay them the most, and pick the winner based on how much money they threw.

i dont trust any big events, same with major companies that make reviews, you'd get a better opinion and better show from your avrage youtuber or streamer.

i'll see about getting a plane ticket for throwing a decapitated horse head at the hosts, surely it would atleast make that show only suck for 99% of it rather then 100% of it.

Because Warframe didn't come out this year. Maybe....just maybe... and bear with me on this: What if DE cuts up Fortuna into a separate DLC and charged $20-$40 bucks for it like Density:For$aken?  NOW we are talking award material.

I wouldn't write off the entire show as a joke and game of the year. Means it came out that year. but it should have gotten best ongoing MMO over destiny and its trash devs. And I'm not sure if de should have won best devs but EA CERTAINTY did not

These hype awards shows are as sincere as "game journalist" websites.    It's all about corporate shills.  The games and the players do not really matter, not even the developers themselves. They're all treated horribly.

It's all about money and corporate publisher bonuses and pleasing their investors.

For honesty, creativity and quality you need to look elsewhere.

Because the game awards are a farce, they always have been, companies with too much money to throw at meaningless award shows

I mean "best ongoing game", how do you think no mans sky and destiny 2 got in there, both are dumpster fires that have had nothing but problems from day one,

It's all about advertising and who can swing their wallet around

This.

If you don't think payola has anything to do with nominations, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you...

More true than you probably know. Again, DE has things to do and those things cost money. How much does it cost to buy your way in for enhanced marketing as opposed to what can you actually do with that money to improve your game? DE has always relied on word of mouth and their recent sponsorship campaign with YouTubers was likely far more effective for the money spent than anything appearing on the rewards would achieve.

People actually watch that?

And the cherry on top of the...well, it's a good point. Many in the gaming community won't have anything to do with the awards. Games journos are notoriously mendacious and actually hold their audience in contempt. We've seen it plenty of times. The only reason I'm aware of anything that went on there was watching an ACG livestream of the event--mostly because Karak usually gives it the MST3K treatment.

I'd only watch the game awards because of the ads. But I didn't even do that. I just waited until the next day and then watched all the new trailers back to back. I think it is cool that studios get awards and recognition and all that, but it isn't something I get hyped over or feel that I need to stay up and watch for two hours or however long it is.

Someone answered before I could, but that is basically what I meant:

Warframe is simply way above anything like that, some games will be talked about regardless if they are finished or not, if they retained popularity or not, websites like kotaku will mention certain games over and over even if there isn't much to talk about, they just want the clicks.

These awards want the ads to be viewed by many, so they pick popular games that were advertised in the media, because players watching will relate and say "i rememeber this", it has nothing to do with actual awards, at this point i'm not even suprised if fallout 76 would be there, given the anoucements and hype surrounding it.

If you want good quality overview, you must watch independant youtubers like angry jow, jim sterling and so on, as they are blunt to say when a game is uninspiring, lazy and brag about features when in fact they lack content.

Quality games are not the most advertised, not all gamers are that dumb.
