Urbanx
So, i was just walking around my thoughts, and i got this crazy idea. What if the Playersize of a squad was increased to 6? In This way, more people is able to play together and try out new stuff. I know it might be too overpowered for bosses and low lvls, but wouldn't it be great to play with 6 of your IRL mates? Strategy's could be implented on bosses. Like, A boss needs a frost and an ember to kill. Frost freezes and Ember melts. and rest attacks. Post your thoughts! :D
Toddwjp
the number is more there so the netcode and engine dont flip out, im sure in time though it will be possible but they might not decide to put it in for balance. however it could be fun. se05239
Hard to find someone that can host himself + 3 others. Now people gotta be able to host themselves and 5 more? You know how many games that are gonna be nigh-unplayable?
Tsukinoki
Two reasons why we are limited to 4 people per cell: 1) Netcode to make it easier to host and take part in missions And lets be honest, there are a LOT of people who end up hosting PUGs that cant quite handle 4, though they can handle 3. 2) Because the game engine cant fully support it. In any of the matches where there was a bug that allowed more than 4 people to join in issues started happening. Such as enemies not spawning, pathing breaking, AI getting stuck in loops, AI not functioning for all units, map generation breaking. There have even been issues of bosses spawning but being invincible, or spawning and just sitting there not doing anything as the AI isn't running for it. And this is the biggest reason why the only map that allows us to have more than 4 players doesn't have any AI: The game engine just cant handle more than 4 players and everything else it needs to do all at once. And a change in the game engine is not something that can be done easily.
SanityRobot
No. Greater team size always demands greater commitment. And then content comes out that requires the greater team size, which requires greater commitment. It's what ruined Dungeon Defenders for me. Maps started out small, and for four players. Then all new development shifted to six players. Then I think eight. Then the ability to actually solo those maps was just gone. Then they release twelve person maps. Then I quit playing. And of course the latency issues. Edited September 10, 2013 by SanityRobot
Maou
Id would be hard to look for good host. plus I dont like boss oriented frames, Like during update 9 beating raptor without a frost frame was as close to impossible since rwptor could 1hit you. so no

Syndrella
Later maybe possible to make 5-8-10 peoples lobbies but this coding problem in this Team is seems hard and at moment they can't do anything important with this.

TunaMayo
Whilst we still live in a time where not everyone has a top-end computer or fibre-optic internet, having larger squads simply isn't viable. Maybe if you could host private matches and choose the squad size, in the knowledge that the host has a good enough rig and connection this could be viable however. You know how many games that are gonna be nigh-unplayable? frankly, a lot of hosts are nigh-unplayable now. Greater team size always demands greater commitment. Then I quit playing. a Dungeon Defenders player :o but, yes. games choose the 4 player size a lot because more than that starts to require a dedicated server, honestly. Dungeon Defenders is a great example. even with great hosts with actually good internet connections, 6 or 8 player maps still ran like S#&$ and everyone lagged around. (@SanityRobot - solo'ing many of those higher playercount maps was totally possible, just harder - more player slots increased enemy scaling. granted, you needed to to have the new... practicaly unobtainable stats to really do many of these things, but you could do them). se05239
frankly, a lot of hosts are nigh-unplayable now. That is true, but I tend to play as long as it is playable. But when enemies starting running in place and I can no longer pick up anything.. I leave. That is kinda my limit.
aTrane9001
Also, 4 players is the norm for co-op games. Ask yourself, how many console games can support more than 4 player split-screen? if there are more than 4, the screen is too small

Malaheart
Like other have said it would increase the requirement on the hosts part making it problematic for them.
