Are we the first to get an orb kill in the game?

DE can verify timestamp. Pics posted after the kill where it (SPOLIERS)

Spoiler

DETONATES

Are we the first?

ALSO, gonna post fight tips. OBVIOULSY, Spoilers.

Spoiler

There are several things to note when dealing with the new boss. 1. only AW weaps hurt him. 2. the grav gun is on a 10 #*!%ING minute cooldown timer, the only way to get the weapon up again is to KILL hyenas, which drop a YELLOW item that resets the grav gun.

there are 3 phases in the fight. first - damage him until he falls past a certain point. the Kill method so far is simple, SHOOT THE LEGS. The damage adaptation will happen throughout the fight, so all 4 members have to have different elements to deal damage when he adapts to a certain type.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: there are 3 main attacks from the orb. 1. he raises himself and slams down on the ground, crushing tenno. 2. he fires missiles, blue and golden ones. the blue ones are area targeted, the gold is PLAYER targeted. you can shoot down these missiles with AW weapon. 3, he casts walls of energy which are invulnerable. USE COVER OR GO OPERATOR, those things negate it. This concludes phase 1

PHASE 2 starts when he fires off several shields, 1st time he shoots 4 shield generators that makes him invulnerable that u must destroy. he fires them far, look at his head, there will be 4 beams on top showing u where the shield generators are. once they are down, it returns to phase 1

again, once down a certain amount of health, phase 2 occurs again, just with 6 shield generators. all the while, corpus will be shooting at you, so if you run out of ammo, Kill hyenas. players not of the damageable element should kill corpus or they will #*!%ing flood you to death.

once the 6 shield generators are down phase 3 starts. he starts to go on a rampage, and casts blue walls like its going out of style, and attacks come in harder n faster. survive n shoot legs. once legs are DOWN, he collapses on the ground, at this point, BEAT THE S#&$ OUT OF HIM ASAP. if he survives, he gets up again to wreck your ass. tbh if you got decent dps, he should be down for good. Congrats, you've killed an ORB!

Operators not required, but highly recommended to get out of tight spots. Some parts might not be accurate, such as the killing of the Hyenas for the yellow deployable cooldown item, they might drop from corpus too, but the ones i noticed were from the Hyenas. By and large, this guide should be accurate since we killed it after all, and (I hope it helps struggling players.

We killed this guy in about 30ish minutes (including quests) once Fortuna II dropped.  GMT +8

But generally this is a very simplistic boss fight with phases.

The fact that you don't need to use Operator mode makes it very refreshing 🙂

Happy to hear operator isn't required. A simplistic multi-phase boss sounds pretty good actually...did you find it fun? (PS4 so can't try it yet)

I will hide the lore bits.
But basically this is how it throws down

1) Break shields with normal weapons.
It will have Sentient adaption, so make sure your primary and secondary have different elements.

2) Once shields are down, call down your AW weapons and shoot the limbs.
Once limbs are down (like Jackal), you shoot the body. But be fast.

3) Sometime later, the Corpus will start dropping shield pylons to recharge the shields.
Take those out ASAP and continue as 1) and 2)

4) The last phase will have a 5 min timing, but by then the thing is on its last legs (literally).
Then it dies, collect your loot and watch the corpus nuke the thing :P

Pretty simple eh ? Also throughout the fight, the Vox Solaris dudes will drop random ordnance to force reset the Sentient adaption shields.
So NPCs doing something useful for once.

Also there are Corpus mooks who will help the Profit taker. They are low sortie level (60+) but can be annoying.
And keep an eye to make sure the alert don't hit 4 threat bars.

Last thing you want is flying nullifers to ruin your day.

Oh cool, that's me in the OP's screenshot.

Anyway from what I've seen and heard operators aren't required but they do help. Other than that Orb Mother is just a bigger version of Jackal on Venus with additional pylons.

Last phase of fight is also timed with a ton of trash mobs, so much for DE's "we don't want it to just be a DPS race". Bring well modded AOE weps and arch-guns.

Pretty sure the Shields work on reverse Adaptation where it picks one Element at random and you can only deal damage with that element. It doesn't change shield types to match your weapons, it just changes to another Element once you've done enough damage to it.

Also, Void damage will forcefully refresh it to another element but it can only happen with a 5 second delay between each forced refresh.

Interesting. But then again, our side never use operator that much.
Guess we got lucky.

The shields will always automatically refresh when you deal a certain amount of damage. With a group of 4 and all elements covered, you don't really have a need to refresh it to another element. However, if you have missing elements, you can always refresh it with any Void damage, including just Void Dashing through it. Not as efficient but it allows smaller groups to push through rather than sit out a 20 second or so refresh timer after which, it will pick a new random element.

Ok then it will be more correct to say, if you solo or duo running. Yes Operator will be required to skip the drag.

P.S. 1 more thing folks, Shield Disruption doesn't work. I tried.
