Its the transparency of the simulor effects that need to be toned down and only slightly. The solution is something you can achieve your own by running with a much darker energy color, Black, dark red and dark blue work really well and look nice. I would avoid orange, bright green and bright yellow, white and light blue. It seems the weapon has 2 energy colors i'd love to be able to adjust the 2nd one just to get a better visual balance.

I personally like the new effects as they are but im no idiot, many people wont because some colors appear too bright.
