Excalibur Umbra Survivability

Question

Doing solo ESO on my excal umbra, and noticing a SEVERE lack of survivability.  Things just one-shot me and there isn't much I can do about it.  Staying on the move not only doesn't help with the enemies laser-like accuracy and the constant aoe attacks, but it also prevents me from using EB and keeping my kill efficiency up.

I'm using:  Steel Charge, Handspring, all 3 umbral mods, P flow, P Cont, blind rage, streamline, and chromatic blade.

My kill speed is fine, when I'm not getting pounded from all sides by massive damage.

Without removing an umbral polarity (which is not an option until DE digs their head out of their backside and gives us a way to re-polarize with an umbra slot.) or severely gimping my damage output, I don't see what I can change so that I can survive the incredibly unbalanced DPS the enemies have at level 70.  800ish armor and over 1000 health should not be getting one-shot, or DPS'd down so fast I can't do anything about it.  I try to run once they remove all my shields and half my health in one go, but I just run into more enemies that do the same.  I would consider lifestrike on EB, but they gimp your energy every single round in ESO.  Because of the same energy problem, I don't see how quick thinking would help much, either.

Is this game mode just that hard gated against solo non-tanks?  Or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah. For some reason you think you won't have enough damage without Blind Rage. Throw it out. Get rid of Streamline and Primed Continuity as well. Replace them with Adaptation, Quick Thinking and Hunter Adrenaline. Use Condition Overload on EB. Life Strike will work fine because you'll have constant energy supply with Hunter Adrenaline (when you take damage).

Add rage and use life strike on melee. Spam his AOE stun. Quick thinking is another on to try.

Tbh I am kinda surprised you have issues with him in ESO, I usually take Saryn solo to 10 or 12 in the upgraded ESO (100s etc) and Umbra has more survivability in my opinion.

Other than the quest you get him from and leveling him, I haven't played an excalibur since I was low MR.  I main Saryn for ESO and have zero issues until it gets high level and things just one shot you, but that's nearly any non-tank frame.  I knew I was doing something wrong when the level 60's were giving me trouble in Umbra.  Ksaero's advice fixed it.  I have slightly lower kill speed on heavy enemies and high levels than I did with my original build, but he's nigh unkillable now.  It would only require 2 forma on the frame itself even though I have 3 due to building him wrong at first, but it's friggin 7 forma on the blade, because I think the sacrifical mods are trash and I took the polarities off.  He's totally unstoppable now.
