Gunblades Show That Glaive Mods Need Rethinking

Recommended Posts

Mods needed to make Glaives effective ranged weapons:

-Punchthrough (to hit multiple targets)

-Quick Return (because they bounce everywhere and additional bounces just make them fly everywhere without any benefit)

-Flight speed, sometimes (because some glaives are pretty slow and short ranged)

Mods needed to make Gunblades effective ranged weapons:

-None

You'd think that given this, Glaives would also have significantly higher stats than Gunblades but that's not true either. Also, the most effective tool in the Glaive's kit, the charge explosion, can only be activated when the glaive is selected and is timing-dependent, while a Gunblade is just hold to fire, done.

DE, when Melee 3.0 comes, can we give Glaives innate punch-through and better homing, so they're a viable 'ranged' melee weapon alongside gunblades?

I dissagree. Glaives are clunky without single secondary, but they are far better with it. Gunblades has limited ways fro customizing as they only shoot, both Redeemer and Sarpa.
Glaive/Glaive P is best with punch through as they are made for raw damage with frequent throwing. Kestrel, Halikar and Falcor are better with bouncing off with their ability to home on targets and CC - when working properly, Falcor can wipe whole rooms with Rebound equipped.

Flight speed need to be increased and quick throw without the single light attack need to be fixed. Glaives are very enjoyable with single secondary and crap with standalone or with quickthrows.

Weapon sucks, if needs another weapon to be "enjoyable".

And gunblades don't only shot, they can chop-chop also.

Hilariously, the only gunblade that would even make this post relevant is Redeemer Prime, as the other two that exist had very little use before.

Sarpa was almost exclusively used for the shattering impact niche on Eidolons.

Redeemer was just abused in a single target version of what Glaives were always used for; high damage stealth deletion at range.

Before redeemer prime existed, glaives like Glaive Prime, Cerata, and Orvius was used to instantly delete entire groups of enemies with no effort. How quickly we forget.

Forget? I will never lay down my Glaive!
