PS4 Fortuna: The Profit-Taker - Update 24.2.9 (LIVE!)

Recommended Posts

Jan 29th update:

Jan 28th update:

How have the snowy mountain tops and damp luminous caves of the Orb Vallis been treating you so far? Been seeking out a lot of poop for Biz? Sounds about right! Well soon there will be even more poop variants, along with a whole new challenge, Warframe, and much more.

This update will include everything from Hotfix 24.1.1 + to Hotfix with some cherry picked integrations beyond. The update will roughly be 1.6 GB in size! Once the build has passed cert we will update this thread and all of the usual Warframe channels with the official launch date.

Let’s take a look at what The Profit-Taker: Update 24.2.9 (and the 31 pages of update notes!) will bring:

Here’s the score, Tenno: Nef has the entire Vallis on lockdown. Supply lines are cut off, and we can't get anyone in or out of Fortuna. So we’re planning something big. Something dangerous.

We’re going to fight a massive, mechanical spider. An Orb Mother, to be precise.

Before we can take on the Profit-Taker, we need to discover a weakness in its defenses. In Update 24.2.9, you’ll have to work with Solaris United to get the intel and the tools you need to get the job done.

Plan Ahead! ‘Old Mate’ Rank with Solaris United Standing is required to run the Profit-Taker Bounties. Now is a good a time as ever to rank up to qualify once the update goes live!

The following changes from Hotfix 24.2.2 - 22.2.7 have been integrated into this build for Orb Heists! Expand the spoilers below for list:

  • Increased the drop chance of a certain Cosmetic item dropped by the Profit-Taker.
  • The Profit-Taker only requires 3 Codex Scans to complete the Codex entry.
  • Excluded the Profit-Taker from being spawnable in the Simulacrum.
  • Replaced the Profit-Taker Phase 4 Vaulted Relic reward with a Mesa Prime Relic.
  • Increased the reward chance of Gyromag, Atmo, and Repeller Systems from Profit-Taker Bounties.
  • Operators can switch the Profit-Taker’s Shield type regardless of the damage type of the equipped Amp.
  • Lowered spawn chances and max simultaneous counts of Nullifier Shield Ospreys and the Fluctus carrying Terra Manker during the Profit-Taker end fight.
  • You can skip the Profit-Taker Bounty cutscenes using the default Fire button.
  • Removed Knockdown from the Profit-Taker’s lightning attack.
  • The Fluctus carrying Terra Manker have a guaranteed Heavy Weapon Ammo drop. Their spawn rates have been increased to allow up to 3 of them simultaneously at max Alert Level.

NEW WARFRAME: Baruuk - The Reluctant Warrior
Beware the fury of the truly patient. Pushed beyond restraint, a reluctant master unleashes the storm within.

Each projectile dodged, each enemy lulled or disarmed, erodes Baruuk’s restraint and fuels the storm within. As Baruuk’s restraint is diminished he becomes more resistant to damage.

Dodge all incoming projectiles, but only while not attacking. Edge closer to The Brink with each projectile dodge. Use again to deactivate this ability.

Included changes to Elude from from Hotfix 24.2.7 and 24.2.8:

  • Baruuk’s end of Elude animation no longer prevents movement.
  • Baruuk’s Elude conal indicator FX will only be seen by the local player (person casting the ability).

A calming wave slows enemies until they fall into a slumber. Enemies woken by damage will be confused and disoriented. Short-term amnesia means all waking enemies forget anything that happened before the lull.

Included change to Lull from from Hotfix 24.2.3:

  • Animals are less stressed the closer you are to them when casting Baruuk’s Lull ability.

Summon a bevy of orbiting daggers to seek out enemy guns, destroying them with a small explosion. Combine with ELUDE to double the range.

With his Restraint eroded, Baruuk commands the Desert Wind to deliver powerful radial strikes with his fists and feet. Each moment commanding the storm restores his Restraint.

Exalted Fist Weapon for Arsenal:

Baruuk channels the desert wind to turn his fists and feet into an exalted weapon.

  • Baruuk Meroe Helmet: A uniquely-styled alternate Helmet for Baruuk.
  • Akrabu Syandana: This Syandana of corded-knots wrapped in linen is used by Baruuk for meditation and contemplation.

  • GALVACORD: Shock and maim with this heavyweight retractable whip.

Update 24.2.9 is bringing some serious floor firepower! You will be able to use your Arch-Guns on the ground - or as we like to call it ‘Atmosphere’ - with the use of a ‘Gravimag’. This device can be installed on any Arch-Gun (with an Orokin Catalyst installed) via the Upgrade Arsenal - similar to installing a Catalyst.

Comparable to the Archwing and K-Drive Launchers, a respective Gear item known as the Archgun Deployer will be required to activate your Atmosphere Arch-Gun.

Atmosphere Arch-Gun Specificities:

  • Atmosphere Arch-Gun can be summoned in normal missions with the Archgun Deployer, but once Ammo has been depleted there is a cool-down until you can summon again.
  • Atmosphere Arch-Guns consume Ammo as opposed to unlimited Ammo/Battery in Archwing. Specifically new Heavy Ammo Drops, which can be found from Corpus enemies in Orb Heist missions.
  • Included change from Hotfix 24.2.6: Shared Affinity gain now applies to Atmosphere Arch-Guns but only while equipped in the main hand.

Nyx & Titania Changes

For a complete deep dive into intent - check out the original Dev Workshop!

Nyx Changes:

General change: Nyx's abilities have received an audio refresh - new sounds have been added to her powers!

New Passive: Nyx's Passive now causes enemies to miss her more often.

  • Nyx's last Passive randomly disarmed enemies when hit by powers. Since her revisited kit depends on enemies effectively hitting each other, we changed the passive to simply make her harder to hit.
    • This new passive is deactivated when Nyx is using Absorb, meaning no shot will be wasted!

Mind Control:

  • Mind Control has a 4 second wind up at the start where incoming damage will cause the target's damage output to increase. The stronger your weaponry, the deadlier the output of your victim!
    • Reminder: All damage inflicted to the target will apply once Nyx deactivates Mind Control, or when the Duration runs out.
  • Better 'follow Nyx and attack enemies' AI pass.
  • Mind Control can now be cast while moving, and no longer halts Nyx in her tracks!
  • The cast time for Mind Control has been decreased, so you can better use the 4-second window to ‘power up’ your new minion!

Psychic Bolts:

  • No longer deals any damage but will now temporarily disable Armor & Shield, slow down Infested units, and disable Ancients' Auras.
  • Psychic Bolts can be cast once on up to 6 targets. Kill these targets before you can cast again, OR hold the ability to reset targets and cast again!
    • Included change from Hotfix 24.2.9: Added sounds to Psychic Bolts deactivate hold and end - you can despell this ability by holding the ability by default!

Absorb: What Nyx can do with her 'Absorb' now allows for more tactical team play / solo play!

  • Absorb damage type is now based on the damage types it absorbs.
  • A thematic element of 'manipulating others damage' has been weaved through Nyx's Absorb. Absorb now has 'lingering Absorption' - Nyx's Absorb now converts a % of the Absorbed Damage into a self Damage buff when the ability ends for a limited time, dispelled on recast. This means as your teammate or enemies power your Absorb, you can tactically break it for damage/range - and/ or a self-damage buff for Nyx imbued by those around you! This synergizes with Mind Control, allowing more powerful victims, as well as allowing more lethality on Nyx's weakened and distracted enemies.
  • Nyx Absorb explosion radius increases based on the Damage Absorbed (capped Nyx to 75m max).
  • Added +400% Damage cap to Nyx Absorb Damage buff.

Titania Changes:

General Change: Baseline Energy Capacity increased to hit 225 at Max Rank.

  • The Energy cost for Tribute has been decreased from 50 to 25.
  • Simply getting 1 type of Tribute will be enough to have its maximum power. You can continue to acquire Tributes to refresh the Duration, but you no longer need to build them up.
  • As for the 4 Tribute types:
    • Dust - keep as-is:it reduces enemy accuracy by 50%!
    • Thorns - increase to 50% of damage reflected back to the attacker and increased its range from 10m to 30m!
    • Entangle - keep as-is: one Entangle Tribute slows an enemy by 25% but we increased its range from 10m to 30m!
    • Fullmoon - the 75% damage buff now applies to ALL (Sentinels, Moas, Companions) + Razorwing Butterflies

  • Lantern can be cast up to 4 times at once (new targets replace old). Targets will gradually float back to their starting positions. You will be able to 'explode' all targets by holding the Lantern cast.

  • Titania’s Razorflies will gain Health when Titania kills enemies while in Razorwing!
  • Razorwing has a 'Vacuum' built in!
  • Optimized Razorwing's ability sound.

Harrow Changes:

  • As per feedback, Harrow’s Systems Blueprint will be added as a Rare drop in Rotation B for Defection missions. This means you will have 2 chances in the Endless loop to obtain Harrow, not just one at Rotation C. To maintain balance, a Corrupted Mod will be moved to Rotation A.
  • Increased Harrow’s Energy gain from his Thurible ability (max ranked now gains 2x as much).
  • Increased Duration of Harrow’s Penance by around 20%.

Venus Osprey Changes:

  • Venus Shield Ospreys that spawn Nullifier bubbles will only spawn if the Orb Vallis Alert level is 3+ and if the enemy level is 20+.
  • Level 2+ Alert level will spawn Shield Ospreys that don’t spawn Nullifier bubbles.
  • A max of 2 Nullifier bubbles can be created per Drone.
  • Total active Nullifier bubbles (from all Drones) in the area will not exceed 4 - 10 bubbles (scaling with player count).

  • Tombfinger Chamber area-of-effect damage origin now matches point of impact instead of behind it.

Controller Responsiveness Changes

We increased controller responsiveness in a number of ways:

One major issue we addressed were cases where almost 50% controller input was required before a hip-fire camera manipulation could be executed. We’ve decreased coded dead zones to allow for more refined, precise aiming and removed the inherited velocity when shifting directions. Players should now notice an immediate falloff in camera movement once input is no longer applied to the control sticks.

Additionally, we have added a number of mathematical improvements regarding the ramp and acceleration curves used to interpolate control stick input. This should make the camera manipulations feel much smoother and allow for a closer approximation of circular movement, compared to the very ‘square’ like motions we had previously.

We’ve also increased the amount of vertical movement seen when manipulating the control stick to reduce the amount of asymmetry between it and horizontal movement. There is still a bias towards the horizontal plane, but moving the camera up/down should not feel so drastically different when now compared to left/right movement.

Waving goodbye to the Classic Controller Config

We will be departing from the Classic Controller Config in this update as it has for long presented numerous issues and bugs in testing and on launch of new Quests, features, systems, ect. We’re at a point now where Warframe is at a size that this Config introduces surmounting issues that ultimately slows testing.

If you are a Classic Controller Config Tenno and you'd like to prepare for the change before the update goes live, you can change to the New Controller Config and start customizing your controller bindings to your liking by going into Options > Customize Controller. When the update goes live, Tenno using the Classic Controller Config will be defaulted to the New Controller Config, but customizing will always be available if desired!

Conservation Additions & Changes:

  • Animal Pheromone Synthesizer items have been added to The Business’ Offerings! When deployed before using an Echo-Lure, these increase the chance of attracting a Rare variant of the respective animal.
    • Included change from Hotfix 24.2.3: Reduced the Pheromone Synthesizer Standing Cost from 1000 Standing to 100 - 500 Standing depending on the animal.
  • When completing a successful animal Conservation using a Warframe ability, it will yield a ‘Good Capture’, as opposed to sometimes yielding a ‘Perfect Capture’. A successful animal Conservation using the tried-and-true Tranq/Echo-Lure technique was always intended to yield a higher gratitude.
    • Ivara’s Sleep Arrow will however grant a ‘Perfect Capture’ if the shot is a direct hit. The farther off your shot the more distressed the animal gets.
  • Changed the the Tranq Rifle to be ‘Silent’! This should ensure you are not startling animals if you miss - it's only on hit they'll react.
  • Increased range of Tranq Rifle pulsing sound from 100m to 180m.
  • Increased the fire rate of the Tranq Rifle so that it enters the reload state faster.
  • The Conservation gear when tracking animals will function similar to the Fishing gear, where tapping the bound key will auto-equip the respective item, instead of having to hold and re-select the item.
  • Changed the Conservation gear to show the 'Infinity' symbol, indicating the fact that it is not consumed on use.
  • Echo-Lures will no longer need to be equipped in your Gear Spiral, they are auto-equipped in the Conservation gear when a Tranq is equipped.

Dojo UI Changes:

  • The initial Trading Post screen and Research screen in the Dojo have been reworked to not only be more functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also to match your chosen UI Theme!
  • Research in progress will display contribution progress in the right panel and incomplete material contributions will appear faded.
  • Hovering over non-Credit Research requirement materials will show the item info as well as the amount owned.

K-Drive Changes:

  • K-Drive Races will require and reward Standing! Boon has adapted the high risk high reward lifestyle - glinty!!
    • The amount of Standing required is based on the number of gates * 5 (10 gates * 5 = 50 Standing requirement) regardless if you win or lose the race.
    • The amount of Standing rewarded is based on the number of gates * 100 (10 gates * 100 = 1000 Standing) if you successful complete the race.
  • High value tricks will reward you more Standing.
  • A successful K-Drive grind grab will be called a ‘Knuckle Duster’.

General Changes:
Expand the spoilers below for the list of changes!

  • The Oxylus ‘Scan Lifeform’ Mod has been changed to ‘Scan Aquatic Lifeforms’. It now reveals the location of hotspots within Xm and applies Luminous Dye to fish within Xm.
  • The Bloodshed Sigil will remain visible in Relays/Liset and Cetus/Fortuna and in the Arsenals (applies to Operator as well) provided you're returning from a mission where you took damage (more damage = more blood). We have also decreased the time it takes to appear by 20%!
  • Blueprints for Warframes obtained from quests will no longer be able to be sold for Credits.
  • The Emote Gear wheel will show Emotes as available to use when you're playing an Emote instead of fading out as though unusable, even though you can still select them to play another/cancel current emote.
  • Any input will cancel Emotes, instead of having to re-enter the Emote Gear wheel and re-select the Emote.
  • Arch-Gun Mod changes:
    • Automatic Trigger: 45% to 60% Fire Rate
    • Dual Rounds: 30% to 60% Multishot
    • Rubedo Lined Barrel: 60% to 100% Damage
    • Parallax Scope: 80% to 100% Critical Chance
    • Hollowed Bullets: 60% to 80% Critical Damage
  • Arcane Arachne changed to: On Wall Latch for 2 seconds: 100% Weapon Damage for 20 seconds.
  • Capped Garuda's Dread Mirror and Blood Altar dashes to 150m/s max.
  • Revenant's Enthrall will be able to be used while on Ziplines.
  • Adjusted the texture weight of Mesa’s rear area to avoid collapsing.
  • Further improvements towards Mesa Prime’s Attachments when enabled on TennoGen Skins, equipping Emblems, and overall texture issues.
  • Operator Hoods will appear open when previewing facial accessories to allow proper viewing of the face!
  • Operators will be able to use Ciphers when hacking panels.
  • Calculated Redirection, Enhanced Vitality and Metal Fiber will be Companion Mods, but will be incompatible with Kubrow-Link Mods.
  • You will be able to purchase multiple Arcanes from the respective Vendors (Rude Zuud, etc).
  • Servofish parts will display which Servofish they can be Dismantled from!
  • Increased the Vega Toroid drop rate to bring inline with other Toroids.
  • Sola, Calda, and Vega Toroid drops will be affected by Resource Drop Chance Boosters.
    • Note: Resource Booster always applied - this is specifically the Resource Drop Chance Booster!
  • Changed the Scyto Raknoid Affinity to 1k and Ryta Raknoid to 1.5k.
  • Reduced the Standing cost of Transmutation Cores from 10k to 5k.
  • Reduced the Standing cost of Cetus Wisps from 10k to 5k.
  • Javlok Capacitors will be able to be sold to 2,500 Credits (as to not pile up in your Inventory).
  • Improvements towards Vallis Mining deposit spawn locations that resulted in an inability to successfully Mine them.
  • Restored the option to purchase 1 Forma or a pack of 3 Formas when you don't have any and you want to Polarize something.
  • Replaced the Braton Prime Blueprint with the Braton Prime Receiver in the Lith K2 Relic due to an unintentional vaulting of the Receiver!
  • Fast Travel in Fortuna will be enabled for Little Duck when appropriate.
  • Venus Dropships will be affected by Corrosive Projection, Magnetic, Heat, and Electricity Status Effects.
  • Dropships will loop through and check for the landing zone closest to the chosen encounter location. This should reduce situations where Dropships could pick a very far away point from the encounter area.
  • Reduced the required amount of enemy deaths for the Submersible Archwing Exterminate Sortie mission.
  • Orb Vallis Excavation missions will spawn Excavators that will equally match player count, with the exception of a full squad of 4 players where only 3 Excavators will spawn.
  • Improved Bounty boards to gracefully refresh and have next set of Bounties all lined up and ready to go without downtime.
  • Replaced old Corpus lockers of various types with shiny new and improved Corpus lockers on numerous tilesets.
  • Corpus Lockers/Caches that can be opened will display a holographic symbol to indicate such. Corpus Lockers/Caches without the holographic symbol cannot be opened.
  • Syndicate Offerings screen will display Mastered/Forma icons.
  • The Gift recipient name will be auto-filled with attempting to send said Gift from that respective players Wish List.
  • Read Twitch Drop Inbox messages will be auto-removed after 30 days.
  • Chat will autocomplete when attempting to link a Zaw, MOA Companion, K-Drive, and Kitgun.
  • A search box will be added to the Arsenal Loadout selection screen.
  • Renamed the Archwing Mod category to ‘Vehicles’. Both Archwing and K-Drive Mods will be able to be found here.
  • The Flashlight brightness will be ducked when using a Scanner.
  • Reduced the flashlight FX further when Mining to avoid excessive bloom and inability to see deposits.
  • Numerous performance optimizations across the entire game! Including K-Drive performance improvements and Texture Streaming (it now reacts more quickly with a lower performance cost). We’ve touched upon shaders, particle system, weather, and more!
  • ...and more!

And over 7 pages of fixes!

I posted this in the controller thread, but I want to post it here for more visibility.

I don't know how many people still use the classic controller configuration (I still do), but I guess this was a long time coming...

Now that I'm going to be forced to use it "new controller" bindings, I'd like like to voice my problems with it.

The first time I tried it (years ago when it debuted) there was some kind of crazy bug that locked me into it and wouldn't let me use my weapons at all. I'm guessing that this has been fixed but this highlights the thing I dislike about the "power menu" the most: the only inputs I can access on it are for powers.

I would love it if the power menu at least gave me access to more hotkeys for my gear wheel at least. Right now, if I bring up the power menu, the only things I can do are cast powers, but it's at the expense of turning off all my other buttons. Call it something other than the "power menu" if you need to, or set it up so that you have to opt into the extra bindings, but I would like to have options for other actions when I pull up that menu.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to the update. :)

PC is about to get round 15 soon. No idea what you're talking about

Yes, which means that consoles are getting behind on them.

It's a joke.

Round 14 is taking so long that by the time it comes out next year, part of the joke, it will be round 20 on pc, another part of the joke.

So to summarise

Oh I see. Yeah I agree.

Tennogen looks to be the bulk of the content in this update. Nothing else seems worth the time, besides some reworks.

Tennogen round 14 items were shown on dev stream on sept 28 2018 so 4 month are not enough for transfer ?

Again we were promised both pc and console items will be released same time yet time and time again since round 12 we dont even get all items ona a late update thats not acceptable.
