What's the point of Nyx?

Good point! She's a jack of all trades frame. The only thing she doesn't do is heal. She can CC, Debuff, Tank. She brings a lot of situational utility. 

Tbf I still don't get why Mesa is so popular. She's just pure LOLDAMAGE. Her 4 key is stupid boring.

Maybe you need to know Mesa better then?

She can debuff and CC (Shooting gallery temporary disable enemies' weapon plus giving a stun), tank (shatter shield), buff (SG can buff weapons damage of your teammates too) and she has peak DPS in warframe rosters.

We usually ignore what else she can do but her damage output because in warframe we want specialist not genralist. Jack of all trade is just  "useless" but misspelled. Beside even in that standard Nyx is not a good example.

Damage output of her ability and her minions is negligible in sortie 2 lvl and her minion suffers greatly by poor AI. Chaos is an inferior CC that can't reduce enemies' damage capability effectively and Absorb is essentially a cheap invincibility. And sortie 2 can't even be considered late game currently.

Most of her abilities relies on enemy AI and enemy scaling. However this game has really bad AI and EHP of enemies increases a lot faster than their damage output and it's the root reason of her underperformance.

i dont know if anyones mentioned this yet, but Law of Retribution, shes so good. max range + duration, she is a CC force to be reckoned with. i will never turn away a competent Nyx looking to run an LoR. not to mention she makes actually killing Vey Hek a laugh. shes got here uses, maybe not right now since trials arent here, but theyre coming back. maybe just keep her in your back pocket in case youre thinking about doing those when they come back.

People used Nyx because her 4th increases her threat level and give her invincibility so Vay Hek will focus the attacks on her. I don't think people considered her a good CC pick. Back when Mirage was still a thing they use blind Mirage. I think people use Slova in later time.

i mean, my team used her as CC, but then again my Nyx was a dedicated nyx player out of LoR so might be biased there. never ran into any trouble. also, her m,ind control ability on hek made that not a fight. it was the best. something a lot of people tend to forget, the lesser known effects of that ability. also, oof. yeah. Blind Mirage was so good. i miss her.

Jack-of-Trades is not a good thing in a game with specific missions and specific objectives.

It's perfectly fine for a frame to do multiple things but those things need to layer together to create a stronger force.

A good example of this is Nidus. He's tanky, has CC, Healing and Damage. None of these abilities are best in their respective class but all compliment each other to make Nidus a formidable force. He has far less eHP and Healing potential than Trinity but he has CC and Trinity does not. He has less damage output than Mesa but can yet again layer his weapons into his Stomp DPS to deal with things which Mesa struggles, while still applying his other perks.

The functionality in Nidus' abilities are layered much in the way Nyx pre-rework were layered to accomplish her role as a CC / Defensive frame.

Nyx now does more things but they do not layer nearly as well or at all creating a frame that's only good as her best ability none of which are best in their respective class and few of which layer to create a stronger force. As a result Nyx is not good at anything or good in general.
