Fortuna: Update 24.3.0 - Nightwave

What about a fight against a the Wolf? little, short mission, but this Bane dude looks sick as hell and i want to kick his butt.

btw. nicly done DE. obviously if it was intended that it takes 10 weeks to accomplish the entire rewards table, it will be way to long.

I thought it was a monthly season like in most other games (no Fortnite). Could be done by giving us more daily missions, or a refresh button, that once you cleared out all weekly and daily missions, you are able you refresh the missions once per week. i mean your choice. If you can´t get this refreshed missions done your problem, but at least you don´t have to sit and wait for the next week to approach with new acts.

in terms of rewards it´s absolutly amazing, well done. The Standings for each act is fine as well. I´m just worried about the amount the time it will take to get to level 30 and above, not because of stupid mining, but because of waiting time 🤔 so in that regard their coud be an improvement in my opinion.

Those complaining about this new wolf cred….really?

It´s just a new currency, a currency that will DISAPPEAR once this series is over, it will vanish out of your inventory. That is what DE wanted, a new currency that they can throw out with the end of wolf of Saturn six.

Concerning the normal market of Nova.... i will call myself now a veteran. I don´t need a lot the stuff that is in there. I am not complaining about that fact, just thinking about other players, that don´t earned those items yet. I would like just a little bit more of clarification about whether certain items being always a thing in this market or not? For example Vauban parts, Nitain, the Ornament . Six, and the catalyst and reactor (even thought the last two can rotate as well). Maybe I have missed that or it isn´t clear yet. However those items should always be in this store, because then it doesn´t matter for new players or any other player when to build a certain frame that requires a lot of nitain like Vauban prime for example or for those players who want to build the normal vauban Warframe.

Something else. I haven´t approach the second level in the Standing yet, but i thought after each level there would be….a little bit more lore..like you promised us...

This "lore driven series" isn´t really lore driven if you make everybody hyped about the wolf of Saturn six, and even if you don´t give us a fight against him, at least give us more text to actually listen to in order to get more background information about the wolf. Because this character seems really interesting o me. For example why he was in jail, or why he has so many grineer following him, how exactly did they broke out, even with rumors. Small things like that would be cool.

For my final words, let me be clear. this update was needed. After Anthems true failure, Apex hype, and Fortnites Season 8 starting ( just being honest hear by looking at the facts ) and all the other games comming out soon or that people are hyped for. The start of this makes me excited for more, and it proofs to me, that DE is able to pull of what they have planed for this year within their roadmap. However in my opinion their are a little tweaks and changes or better improvements left to do to make this update that fascinating thing for the community that they always want to return to.

And a small solution for those players who will miss out on those exclusive items, either make them purchasable AFTERWARDS of the series or make them reappear within a Baro store AFTERWARDS. idk

DE this is my honest opinion about the update i was hyped after you showed us the roadmap, but with a little of a holding back myself in terms whether they pull it of like they want it to or are they just throwing it at us like (cough) other "content" *cough* Deluxe Skins *cough*. But you showed you can do it. So make everything out of it right now and go ahead and fix this fundamental system that you introduced into warframe right now before it will be too late again.

Sorry but I don't like it, it's too time consuming and too much stuff i don't need or don't want to do anymore. I am MR 25, nearly 26. It allowed me to play a few times a week for an hour or two so far, but now you expect me to do invasions i don't need, plains missions i don't want to do anymore, deal with the eidolon recruitment chat toxicity, doing Simaris tasks i've been done with for YEARS... Seriously? Is that all the content team can come up with? That's disappointing. Are you so desperate for cash you need to create compulsion loops to increase retention and monetization? I was thinking the game was doing well. I was also under the impression Warframe was made by passionate devs, not by the sales department.

Now I don't really want to play warframe anymore because there are all these cool things locked behind stuff i've done too much already. Good job I guess.

i am Mr 23 and have played the game for 4 years now.

But i don´t really get your point? If it would stayed the same then you wouldn´t benefit from those stupid alarm missions anyway. Now there is just a little bit of an extra for normal missions you are doing. I do understand that simaris is boring but you can pull that off very quickly, just ask for someone in the chat who still has simaris tasks to do and there you go, it counts towards you as well if they capture it.

Honestly the 8 plains missions were really bad but i think you have to take in consideration, that there are still new players out there were the plains are still new content.

And the Eidolon fight? come on, this can be pulled of by just using good stuff and even with a random team.

And don´t tell me i´m okay with it´s current state..

Because earlier i have made up my mind about this and shared my opinion on this update.

Invasions...well i guess it depends what mission type it is, but they can be done very fast well.

i think the dev´s didn´t mean to go for "sales department" update. They did try their best in giving us a good reason to play the game within all it´s facettes (yes even archwing probably or Fortuna animal hunting) to then get something out of that, and even for a veteran you have to admit that the end level rewards are really great even for us, that have almost everything in the game.

Don´t give up on the game man, trust them give them one more chance and try it out.

I would agree with you if they let that system slip like all the other systems they implemented in the past, for example Lunaro, PvP in general, archwing, ludoplex (Framefighter), Onslaught, Arbitrations, grineer arena, etc.

I don´t want to make you angry or want to offend you in anyway okay. I just want to understand why you are giving up on a game, that could grow ut of it´s problems this year with their shown roadmap...

I'm still in the adjustment period, constantly looking into the alert tabs to see if anything new has popped up there only to quickly go "oh yeah that's gone now" so my view on the new Nightwave system is not entirely unbiased i admit.

So far i don't think it's bad, but it doesn't quite feel right either yet.

First of all there is the "excuse" for doing it or the lack thereof.

I use the word excuse here as stand in for a in game reason to perform a certain task. The old alert system was excused by the idea of it being random events in the solar system which require some Tenno's attention, which are important enough that Lotus or someone else throws some extra reward on the table to have it done.

Syndicate missions follow the same idea and they also reward you for showing your alliance to them via a sigil on your Warframe. Nice and simple. Sorties? Even more dangerous events that need your attention. Clem missions? Clem wants to play. Maroo's missions? She has heared of some Orokin loot. Teshin's player versus player mode? He wants to harden the Tenno with training. Onslaught? Simaris needs data. etc. These all are excused by some reasonable in story explanation, even if sometimes questionable.

But with Nightwave we have some story of an escaped Grineer prisoner and his army of strangely healthy fresh backed clones and because of that we are doing... trivial side stuff?

How do these objectives relate to that whole story of the Wolf of Saturn Six? Why does Nora care about how many Ayatan statues we fix or if we run a few levels of Onslaught waves for Simaris? How does she even track all the Tenno doing these entirely random and unimportant objectives? There is no proper excuse there as far as i can see. This weird mix or story attempt and random player tasks feel entirely seperated and yet they are supposed to form an organic system to replace a previously well excused system?

Infact Nora and her broadcast actualy make a lot more sense for an alert system than for this new Nightwave system.

Nora's broadcast would be a reasonable "excuse" for us having those random alerts of old, via telling us where things are critical that we might interfer.

But for the Wolf of Saturn Six, they make no sense beyond the initial reveal of it happening. Perhaps DE is planning some event that will happen once the season is over, but until then we are left with no explanation how these two things, the story of the Wolf and the objectives, are supposed to connect.

Second there is the mix of objectives itself.

Several of them can be fullfilled just by doing your daily or weekly routine like kill X enemies, can be done on the side with relative little problem like spraying a Glyph somewhere or just require a quick side run like 3 waves of onslaught.

These feel almost trivial compared to the alert system, because you don't even have to largely bother with them, since they might often be on your schedule anyway.

But then we have these very specific objectives you need go out of your way to perform.

Fight a Hydrolist. Okay, wait for a very specific timeframe, potentialy ignoring what you would have wanted to do otherwise that day (relic farming and unlocking for example), to wait for night to be on plains, to go there either with a specific set up team or at least a specific Hydrolist hunting Warframe and weapon setup, summon the damn thing and bring it down.

Fill 5 Ayatan statues. Now you have to hunt through mission after mission to find some of these, if you don't have a large stockpile and pray RNG gives you enough stars too. Or be happy about getting an Anansa statue from the sorties.

Play a whole sortie with a friend or clan mate. I understand this is meant to promote social interactions in game. But i imagine there are also many players who prefer to do things like sorties solo. Or enjoy just running with randoms. Or have a series of friends they regular encounter in game but can't be bothered to have a friend list to constantly keep an eye on. Not to forget having to then bother someone to actualy run a sortie with them. While this obviously rewards a certain type of positive player behaviour, it also either excludes those who don't follow it or downright tries to convince people to act in a way they don't want to, just to fullfill this objective that is necessary for some sweet rewards. Not to forget some players will just make the whole intention absurd, by for example quickly putting someone in their friend list, run the sortie and kick them out of it. Same with clans.

Do 8 Bounties on the plains of Eidolon. You can't start new bounties on the plains, because that feature of Orb Vallis has not been retroactive added to the Plains yet (as far as i can recall). So not only do you have to go specificaly to the Plains of Eidolon, even if you don't currently have any intention of doing that, but you also have to go in and out of Cetus 8 times. That can't be too comfortable for some players. Unless Incursions count towards it, but then you still have to slog around the plains waiting for them even if you don't want to.

Hunt 5 simaris targets. Same as with having to go to the Plains of Eidolon, hunt the Hydrolist or the Ayatan statues. If you didn't want to bother with Simaris (perhaps you allready have everything that interest you of his wares) you now have to go to the Relays. Speak to him. Get a target. Catch the target. Go back and repeat another 4 times. Again this forces players to potentialy heavy side track what they actualy wanted to do or miss out on a weekly standing chance. While the other objectives are a no prob.

Of course this is all just my perspective and i assume many are just fine with it.

So overall.

The system is here to stay. I understand that. But i think it needs more tweaks, just like most new or replacing feature DE has added in past, with the two parts i mentioned up there being something that might need to be considered. Both for the system to appear more in line with the rest of the game's side stuff and for the objectives to not repell many players with feeling like forced side tracking rather than reasonable side activities they can divert a bit of their attention towards doing.

Of course as mentioned i will have to spend some more time with the new system to adjust to. So perhaps some of my views on these two points will change.

Never really left a comment on a post like this before, but this is nothing short of amazing so I had to.

This is a HUUUGE change, new players will have a much easier time getting into the game if they can build more than the 2 standard frames without spending money.

Absolutely phenominal change, something both new and older players can get excited over

If there is even the slightest chance anyone at DE sees this: Thank you, thank you thank you.

Is there any indication of how long this ‘Wave’ will last? There seems to be no indication of how long it is intended for players  to get to WoS rank 30. My concern is: how important are the daily challenges? If I skipped every daily challenge for example and just completed weekly challenges, would I still hit rank 30? A little clarity on this would be very much appreciated. As is, I estimate it will take about 8 weeks to reach the umbra forma, but how long is the wave overall?

Any verification or clarity on this would be very much appreciated.

Now, less important stuff: my opinion on this Alert 2.0. I like the POTENTIAL rewards. But. It feels not good to spend hours completing weekly and daily challenges, only to receive NOTHING outside of just new standing. Example: At least before, for each alert, you always got SOMETHING. Now? You get 1-5k standing that will not necessarily give you wolf credits. No wolf credits? No purchasing of anything. No rewards, except standing. I know it’s worth it... in the long run? But as is? I feel it punishes new players, as they will feel the lack of immediate reward the greatest. Just my 10 cents.

*edit* What if Wolf of Saturn didn’t expire? What if, when something new comes along (let’s call it Oceans of Pluto for argument’s sake), you had the OPTION to simply keep leveling up Wolf of Saturn at your own pace, then switch to Oceans of Pluto when you hit rank 30? That would alleviate a metric **load of stress, and would allow all players, new, old, and those who haven’t downloaded warframe yet, to experience both Wolf of Saturn as well as all the new content?

At the very least, Wolf credit gain should be passive. Completing a daily and/or weekly challenge should reward players with both standing AND Wolf credits. Maybe then people could actually buy anything. As-is? You get one reward of your choice per week, when before, you would get 3-5 per day in like an hour of play. This HURTS new players (not to mention it will make platinum costs of necessary aura mods skyrocket).

My first impression: I hate it.

How are new players supposed to get credits?  Or rare resources?  Alerts also gave players an incentive to play on the same mission.  It will be more difficult to get help on the unpopular missions now.

I say put alerts back in and remove the most desirable rewards from the pool such as catalyst blueprints and kavat genes.  Then high level players won't be annoyed to miss them, and low level players can use them when they're needed.  Uh, maybe let players buy nitain extract for ducats or something, I don't know.

Hokay... let's see, I'm ok with alerts gone. The new system seems interesting but I think some of needs improvement.

1. No consistent way to earn rep after you've done all the challenges for the week/day. At the very least let us track where the wolf can spawn, kinda like acolytes.

2. Some challenges are very tedious. The worst offenders are simaris, the clanmate/friend one, and bounties.

Suggestions on how to make these work better:

1. Can't really make a suggestion for simaris, other than allowing it from other people's simaris targets to count to the challenge.

2. Please expand the sortie w/ a friend or clanmate to include ALLIANCE mates.

3. Make it count bounty stages instead of finished bounties. At the moment people are using bounty 1, might as well make it something like "complete 24/25 bounty stages" (8x3) And allow Fortuna bounties too.

4. 9 invasions... this was a pain to do. Please revisit rewards table for invasions, make forma/potatoes show up a little more often.

The rest are "Eh, ok, very doable."

What is it with people only showing the bottom halves of their faces in this game?

I noticed this too! Everyone has some sort of visor or helmet and only their mouths are exposed. Nora is no exception.

So me and my clan members have finally gotten the Wolf to spawn.

We were leveling up some basic gear so we were really unprepared for it, so we ground him down using everything at our disposal.

Eximus units, amps, Archguns, energy restores, anything and everything we had equipped to whittle down this tank's health.

And what do we get for our efforts?

Molten Impact.

Having these mods in the spawn pool of these bosses isn't even funny anymore. We loved how difficult he was to kill, until we realized we'd get nothing in return for it.

Nice how you've set the challenges up to favour veteran players, and made it a real struggle for new players, when it's new players that need this stuff not veterans. It's really bizarre how you do stuff like this.

I'd also like to say that social anxiety is a thing and makes communication difficult, and not everyone has friends or a clan to play with.

Also rip nitain.
