(Update 24.4.0) General Feedback Megathread

Just tossing in my 2 cent, I have been around since just about the beginning although I don't post often. The melee update took warframe from being an amazing game, to one where I feel like i'm constantly fighting with the controls. I understand not (remotely) everyone uses my set up, but if an option could be added back that removes the auto switch it would be amazing. 

My set up:
Zenith: Pressing the secondary fire deploys a disc that switches the gun to a 1000000% pierce, semi auto, see heads through walls killing machine for 30 seconds. 
Synoid Gammacor: simply for the energy regen every x amount of affinity
zaw with bleeding willow stance

All 3 were hurt by the update. In most situations I can shoot my gun and quick melee fluidly. The quick melee with polearms allows 100% full speed sprinting while attacking. After the update you switch to the actual combo which results in a stutter every 3rd attack. Now that you've meleed and you have your melee weapon out you notice that your timer has run out for your zenith, click the secondary fire button.. but wait your melee weapon is out so nothing happens. You have to right click to pull the weapon back out, then secondary fire. So where before I never had to switch weapons, now i'm being FORCED to manually switch weapons

Very similar with the gammacore, as previously I could run (full speed) melee killing while never thinking about a gun. Post update melee kills cannot count towards the affinity needed for the energy gain. 

Please allow an option to return to never having to think about what weapon is actively showing.

Just tried the new melee combat after taking a few days off from Warframe and I hate it. It totally destroyed my controller configuration to the extent that I can't fight effectively anymore. Quick melee attack only works once forcing the melee weapon to be equipped as the primary method of attack except, after the initial strike I can't attack. I can't do anything except turn on channeling after the fact which I never use. I can't do anything else after that unless I manually switch back to my primary weapon. Bring back manual blocking, why can we not switch to melee weapons as a primary form of attack anymore? Who thought that was a good idea when it's so obviously not? The advertised "smoother gun play to melee combat" that the phase one melee update is supposed to allow is a unicorn for me because I haven't experienced it. quite the opposite. There's so much broken compared to what I was able to do just a few days ago that it makes current Warframe feel like a early beta in regards to combat. This update has left me so frustrated. I can't imagined how this was thought to be an improvement. Why downgrade Warframe's combat? To race to the bottom with Anthem?

I havent tried this myself as I do not use a controller, apparently there is/was some kind of bug until you toggle a melee based setting in options. As against the update as I am, I believe your issue has a resolution

So after a few days of trying the new melee system, I had some thoughts.
1. I really really like the old system better
2. it's goes to take a lot of work to make the new melee system as nice as the old system for old and current players.
             You probably want the details so here we go. 99% of my problems is how the controls work and how they overlap with each other. Anyone who has upgraded from the old system and uses a melee focused frame, will more or less notice the issues around trying to use life strike to keep ones self alive.This is because of course that by default the channeling key is the same as the main fire key, which draws out your last selected gun/guns. This problem is further compounded by the fact that channeling is now a toggle, which means even if you rebind it, you will have to remember to click on and click off in the mild of a fight, which I have noticed is very hard and more often or not gets me killed.
        Now we can also talk about how blocking is handled as it does effect a few things. So in a nut shell the auto block function, removes the ability to use block for anything else including stance combos. I also noticed I couldn't glade without doing this weird ads thing with my guns, because not block key.
     In a nutshell this update feels more like a move by DE to draw people away from melee and more toward guns, which I can understand that to a point, but its to much.
Solution:
The easiest way to fix this would be to have a check box in the games options for old melee and new melee, so people could pick which one suits them.
The hard fix would be giving us an option for toggle channel or hold channel, allow use to pick which combos we want to use with our stance, and finding some way to glade without ads. Oh and more then likely go through all the mods in the game and make sure they are up to date with the new system.  

Other thoughts:
Having played this game for three years, it saddens me that this is the thing that would keep me from playing. I no longer feel right streaming it, or recommending it to others, as this feels to much like a step backwards.

That one issue and you wouldn't by chance know exactly what setting that is? Do you have anything for reinstating manual blocking. As a matter of fact, screw it all, do you have a way to make the old melee combat optional so some of us can pretend this debacle with "Melee Next" 🤢🤮 never happened? I went from feeling like a true Space Ninja to feeling like Toby.

I wish I had an optional "old combat", at least my problem can be solved by giving up the weapons and playstyle I have used for the last few years.

so it sounds like one bug, if youre using steam, is talked about here:

this video directly mentions "cant melee twice" and has a fix: 

 

the option in settings I was talking about is under controls, most of the way down: "melee with fire weapon input" for the "melee as primary form of attack" part of your first message.

@Seyon Thanks for the info. It's appreciated. I'll get around to trying this at some point but the video solves one problem but can't solve the other. As we both mentioned, I just want the old melee system back. I want no part of the new melee system. This update has made me not want to play Warframe for a while (again). It shouldn't be such a struggle just to get in some  hassle-free game time.

Feedback regarding the Amalgam Barrel Diffusion:

The +60% Dodge Speed is interesting but feels bad, when using dodge with this mod, you Dodge faster but you dont retain the momentum from that faster dodge which feels awkward when the dodge ends as if you got staggered or something.

Since they give lower value than orignal mod, they arent really worth using, at least for me and my friends in WF.

See what you report makes them even more useless 😃

I have to admit, I actually use melee since the update, but that's probably just because now I care about it. But every time I jump I miss the target area by five meters, and this has never happened before. This is rubbish.

My Kavat has Health-link, but it doesn't work half the time, its bugged af. Sometimes I solo and it works, than in the next mission it doesn't, same in co-operative.

Fortuna is a bigger joke with every update. First the matchmaking was effed up, now its fine, but the missions are bugged. Half the time we miss the extra standing because no enemies appeared.

So I put it here, because I don't want to make a multiple post.
When I have a MOA with me with the Security Override mod installed, sometimes hacking inside the security building bugs out, and the panel for opening the security door becomes inaccessable. Last time (five minutes ago) it happened with multiple doors. This time even the mission countdown disappeared.
Thank to RNGesus the mission 'woke up' and we could finish it.

Otherwise, other than one host migration in the middle of the field, things seem to be stable on Fortuna. Even the frame-rate seems to be a bit more stable!

Hi DE,

i really enjoyed the old melee a lot better using quick melee and shooting my gun.

I dislike your melee stance cos they are so slow. 

please give us the option to switch back? 

New melee sucks real bad.

Auto block sucks as well.

could have just retained the old system but tweaked the speed of changing weapons to almost instant...

i used to melee a lot but now rely mostly on primary weapons.

rip melee 😞 You are now just MR folder

I want to start by thanking DE for the new Warframe, Hildryn. Now down to business. Here is what I have found so far that needs to be said.

The Simulacrum looks horrible with lighting so intense it literally hurt my eyes to look at. Others have said the same thing about other areas being insanely bright.

The next item is that the new weapon FX don't line up with weapons that use skins. I took two screenshots of my Lesion. One with the Polearm Lympharis skin, one without.

Lastly, I am a hardcore melee user in Warframe. What we have now is a down-grade to what we had. I'm not going to lie or be nice about it. It's crap. I am so angry about it I want to quit. If it isn't fixed, I will quit. Many dreaded Melee 3.0 arriving because we knew it would ruin it. You'll literally be taking a melee ability with Melee 3.0 by removing Channeling. It is never an update when we lose things. It's a down-grade.

I saw that you've kinda put what state of day it is for the planets that have cycles. Which is great, it took some 2 years to do so. Yeah. But you know what you have forgotten that would have made it way better. Actual timers. 

Because right now, as with every information about this game comes from 3rd parties, filling in what is missing. 
Tutorials, information about specific stuff, timers, and what not. 

The only information of importance is:

Where: Planet / Node
State / cycle: either night or day / warm or freezing
Timer: Time until next cycle



Also Arbitration:
No where in the game this is mentioned, until one does stumble by accident on the guy on the left in the Arbiters of Hexis part of the relay. 
It would be better once all planets are unlocked and the player has done all quest till The War Within. After completion of the quest, the player gets a message that stays on their alert tab, stating that they should visit x, on any relay at the AoH for more information about Arbitrations. Upon talking to that guy he gives the information. And every planet that has nodes open will do the flashing that incomplete nodes has right now, including the annoying sound. It works. And it is clear as day on an audio visual aspect. The alert tab will then list every open node in a text above the arbitration alert.

They literally just did that, dude.

It has timers counting down until the next phase change.

I was trying to execute these melee charges or air slams and it seems to not  work properly. 
If I would to execute them I need to not only position myself but also change my camera in order for it to execute. This seems way distracting in battle.
May be I will need to get used to it ...

Another thing I have noticed is that it does not always reach the target before hitting the ground. As if the downwards gravity pull is not taken in account in conjunction with the relative distance to the target. Not talking about when the target moves, but the sole place where the target was before reaching the destination. This causes you to reach the ground before covering the distance.

It is. We did not receive the first part of Operation Buried Debts only the second one.
But I am not worried about that. I'm just giving my feedback and comment on that which I received or was promised but never arrived. 

Sometimes we do not get to see the things that pc gets. I have been a pc player. Still am, but it doesn't look so nice as on my ps4.

Can we get the ability to choose to block back because without it you have to not attack for it start auto-blocking and some mods and some mods and weapons that revolve around or have a bonus for blocking don't work well/are just flat out useless now.
