Steam removed Warframe from library [PC]

Question

Posted

I woke up this morning to find out Steam had removed Warframe from my library. I believe i have all the cache files for it and everything else needed. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me why the launcher wants to download 20GB+ when it's all in the cache already. My location for the files is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warframe. I have a shortcut set for the launcher with the target path set as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warframe\Tools\Launcher.exe" -cluster:public -registry:Steam. My launcher and exe and both running as administrator and i have them in windows 8 compatibility mode. I have set my state flag to 4 in the appmanifest. I have provided a link to an album of the screenshots of my folders and what is in them. Thank you for taking the time to read this and i appreciate anyone who can help 🙂 https://imgur.com/a/Jw6YDWr

look at this Directory location in relation to the Steam Folder that you have Warframe installed to.

you're looking for these ACF files, which are text files that determine the install state of every game on Steam. you're looking for the one that cooresponds with Warframes' Store Page number.

so you're looking for 230410. if that Appmanifest file is missing, or broken for some reason, Steam will read that game incorrectly.

here's what the file will look like normally, generally (maybe not any installed/mounted Depots, those would come from if you ever purchased any Steam Packs, IIRC).

Installdirectory is the most important entry you're looking for here. it should match well, the directory that Warframe is in. that would be starting from inside the Common Folder in the same Steam Folder as the Appmanifest file is.
so if it's broken, the Appmanifest file for Warframe is my first guess as to what's not right.

this is one of the great benefits of Steam - text files determine the install states of games, which means that Steam is much friendlier to the end user for managing stuff themselves (such as moving games, it's as easy as copy paste to the new Steam Folder, and bring the Appmanifest file with it. when you restart Steam it'll auto detect and be happy!).

Well, I'm not sure where it's gone.

However, don't be too concerned - all your data is still safe as it's stored on DE's servers so if you want to, just redownloading the game will work.

This might be an interesting rabbit hole to follow for curiosity's sake, but otherwise reinstalling it will work fine.

@Loza03 My internet is about 300kb/s sadly and it would take about 2 days to download which is why i was wondering if the launcher could patch a few things up and i'd be back on track.

@Methanoid When i did have this on my Steam library it didn't give me the option to verify the files unfortunately.

Download and install the game from the warframe website, don't use steam, this happened to me too, I'm downloading it from the main website now, I'm afraid if I download on steam again it won't work, because I already tried redownloading it on steam and the download restarted from 0% when it finished downloading the whole game
