-_-MAD-_-THICCTATOR-_- Posted April 16, 2019 Share Posted April 16, 2019 I got chat banned the other day on all channels for my name (which I changed the day before to ---HENTAI---SENPAI---). Apparently it was deemed inappropriate for having this in-game name, therefore it was manually changed. However I used to have a very similar name nearly four years ago, yet back then it was not deemed inappropriate and was only doing it to have a joke, which people seem to get. I even had support tickets with this name and the support team didn't even warn me for having such a name (image below). If their filters weren't as sensitive back then to catch the name when you made the account and nobody ever reported you for it or a moderator never saw you then there wasn't any way for the rules to be enforced. People use the same "the word itself is not inappropriate" excuse when referring to racial slurs that used to mean something else. Not saying using hentai or porn is inappropriate, but I've never seen a popular online game that allows it as part of your username. I don't think anyone finds it insulting who isn't out of their right mind (or is out of their safe bubble already). But why are you surprised you got banned? If I were you, I would be surprised only because I couldn't believe how such a name was allowed to have that long. We all know that DE is strict as hell when it comes to bad words and potentially insulting others. People are getting banned for saying words that can be meant offensive out of context. (A few days ago we had a topic where we found out that OP got banned for saying Maine Coon in chat. Yeah, the cat breed. Because "coon" can be a racial slur. Go figure.) I'm not saying that this kind of strict censorship is good, I get why it's needed, but they have gone waaay overboard with it. The Kickbot is set to be too sensitive as well.
