I've been away for a while... what the heck did I just walk into?

So... basically, I've been away for a while. How long is a little iffy... at least a month. However, I have now returned, and I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on.

So to start it off... I went to YouTube in hopes of finding some kind of answers, but all I found was that the community - specifically partners - is upset with DE for some reason. The only thing I can guess is that DE is "slacking off" now that Anthem failed and their competition is "gone"... But I think I'm missing something. What exactly is up with this whole situation?

Now, another point of confusion is involving potential spoilers... and I would greatly appreciate it if we could avoid that.

So basically, in a handful of YouTube videos I saw, the Lotus was back to normal... without spoiling anything, can someone tell me what caused this? Is there a toggle in settings or something? Did it have to do with Nightwave? (I didn't touch Nightwave, really... it wasn't really a point of interest for me. I left just before it came out, I believe.) Again, please don't spoil anything having to do with the main storyline of the game. If it has to do with Wolf of Saturn, spoil all you want, but don't touch the main story.

So.. I think that's about where my confusion ends. I'll edit the OP if I remember something else I need assistance with.

Partners running out of steam and content, so they resort to saying that things are 'failing' or 'slacking off' in order to draw in concern and clickbait clicks, because god forbid they don't upload to YouTube's set schedule, without considering the effect these words can have.

Personally I don't believe this at all, and know that things will be coming shortly.

yea, thats just a new optionyou can toggle, creator mode or something. 

and isn't complaining what those people do the most anyways? they do it cus it gets more views than saying good things does, nothing special, business as normal id say.

Creator Mode is basicaly a spoiler-free toggle, which was added with the Plains Remastered (or something like that). 

 

For the rest tho, I've honeslty never been interested in what Youtubers have to say about the game in general. They don't know more about the game just because they make videos, so I don't see why anybody should take them as an "expert" reference o anything. They're not "specialists", nor "experts" of what the game is and should be, so their arguments are as valid as anybody else's.

I'm not hating on them. I'm pretty sure they do have good arguments. Most of the time (I hope). I'm just not going to change my mind because somebody said X thing in his/her video.

And besides, just because content isn't flowing fast enough for their vid schedule doesn't mean there's a content drought. If they don't have anything to record, that's just too bad, but it's not necesseraly DE's fault and if some of them decide to make vids to bash the game's development because of that, then imho it's just a cowardly way to blame somebody else for their own problems.

Honestly I don't think DE even considered trying to compete with Anthem. That game was in hot water long before it even released.

DE actually cares about it's game and Anthem was created with the "live service" motto of "release it now, patch it to a playable state at some point in the future. Release a roadmap so people stick around hoping the game will be playable eventually."

there is an option called creator mode. It does that among other things.

Might be them trying to nerf itzal instead of buffing the other archwings in open worlds (which are next to completely useless atm, and not as fast)

They are tired of the long content droughts and the direction that DE is going with recent updates such as arbitration changes/lack of endgame/longer grinds/etc. that make the game less desirable to play for veterans such as themselves. 2. Partners are upset that other partners are basically leeching off the program's benefits and not giving much in return as many partners don't even follow partner requirements and DE has been doing nothing about it. They basically want a partner revamp that's more engaging and stricter guidelines to shave off the dead weight.

This stream is where the whiteboard came from that's been popping up in later Devstreams. It's the roadmap for 2019, so if there's a complaint about lack of content, well, this is where they laid out the year's plans.

Yeah, some of those youtubers (I don't name them here to not give them even more attention they don't deserve) have a history of "quitting" Warframe then "getting back" with of course a video (or several) on each occasion.

If I enjoy a game I play it. I don't need anyone to tell me if I should. The same reason I stopped playing Anthem is because I run out of things to do there, not because "players stop playing in protest" or some other BS....

Finally someone gets it.

A fair few of the original partners have been playing as long as I have, since the release back in 2013.

Even I, who took a 3 year break, have essentially caught up and gotten bored already. Arbitration changes were pointless and not what the community asked for, Nightwave is ok, but some of the missions were just plain stupid and the way it's laid out isn't good; it creates an unreasonable grind for newbies and nothing to really grip the "veterans"; the Wolf boss is a complete joke and probably the worst thing ever added to Warframe; the removal of Alerts for the addition of Nightwave still irks a lot of players (why can't we have both?) and of course other issues like power-creep, bad scaling, RNG getting out of hand and long content droughts. 

Yes content is coming, but it's few and far between, with DE focussing more on reworks and cosmetics, rather than adding actual new stuff to do. 

We have Wisp and Gas City rework with the new game-mode coming, but in a week or so after release everyone will have farmed the hell out of it and have all the mods and stuff and be bored again; not to mention that it's now been revealed that out of the 15+ mods being released in that patch, a lot of them are "explorer mods" for things like bullet jumping and wall-latching... I mean, is DE out of touch? No one that I know of uses those sorts of mods at the moment anyway. I don't see people putting coaction drift or such mods in their builds (and power drift is only because it gives a little extra power strength).

As for your second point, also yes. Some partners have broken the rules on many occasions without repercussion and have done some really shady stuff, yet some others have had the wrath of DE on them because they pointed out things that DE didn't like; I don't think I need to mention names here.

Haven't looked at the link but I'm pretty sure you mean when Steve said they'd change the names of Warframes to Javelins. Poking fun isn't really competing.

I've never seen a single youtuber, but it's a common human principle, that negativity garners more attention, so they're just having at it before Jupiter drops.
