I think this has been the worst update in Warframe

This update has made everything harder in so many ways for literally 0 reason.

To start off the cosmetics for relics and everything in the shop/codex are mildly flashier but way more inconvenient to quickly and efficiently find out information.

The relics are far more unclear when trying to upgrade them with traces and the images in game when selecting one is incredibly hard to tell what upgrade level of relic your teammates are bringing.

This 2-step verification every time i login is a joke. Not once have I had any issues with people dealing with my account or even heard about people losing their accounts. the only people who do 100% of the time are giving out their information.

I get it, you need to update how the game looks so things dont get stale similar to how google does so every few months. But warframe isn't a browser, its a free to play game that has no equal. Not a single person even has had the thought of "well this game is getting stale, time to go play CombatStructure instead." the keys to relic update was rough but i get it, too many items were being added to have them all in the same categories so it was necessary.

HD'ing earth and adding plains of eidalon and adding fortuna were amazing updates and only made the game better. what was the point of this update? other than remaking Jupiter and adding a new frame, which were great additions minus the fact that everything is super dark on Jupiter, everything else was a complete drawback and utterly unnecessary. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

So all of this just ends up being me complaining. At the very least I want to know if others feel the same way, or if i'm just allergic to change.

It's full of problems, but I honestly think it's one of the better ones. But I also don't think it's a high bar because I despised both open landscapes.

edit: Though I guess I'm also only really looking at the gameplay much on this. the UI changes feel like they're worse in almost every way for the sake of looking "sleeker" or something. But that's been almost every UI update since they started doing it, so I think DE just doesn't care about that kind of feedback. Some bits that got broken will probably be patched back in, anyhow.

The primary thing that I see as a negative is the new UI.

It visually looks nice, but it is a few steps backwards in the functionality area.

The over-reliance on hover when there's no reason to just does not make sense.

For example, if you want to see stats of a weapon from the market, you now have to click on it, then hover over "About" instead of that same section being displayed anywhere on the screen without needing hover. There's a lot of empty space on that screen and it should be utilized. Forcing more clicks and more time just to do something simple is not the right way to go about things.

Same thing with abilities, relics, etc, etc.

A lot of the new changes took a very "Flash over Substance" approach which I hope they take another look at to improve on, they have done this in the past too and then also improved upon it (remember when the inventory was ONLY icons for a bit until labels were re-added?).

Two-Factor Authentication makes sense... except the current form DE has implemented in is not beneficial.

They are not utilizing Authenticator Apps and instead relying on emails... their system has been prone to not sending out authentication emails in a timely fashion. I've personally had it to where an authentication email took over 12 hours to be sent out, and by then the code already expired. This, combined with the lack of "Remember Me" being implemented to remove the need to constantly re-enter passwords, does not mix well.

Now beyond that, I've so far enjoyed the update.

Wisp has been fun so far, the new game mode actually seems like a step in the right direction, and Jupiter just looks amazing. Once again, the Environment Team has outdone themselves.

So it's the "worst" update in 4 years because you need to learn where information is now located in the new ui, you have a dynamic ip, and because a tileset is dark?

ok.

its the fact that its what sean just pointed out. visually everything is immensely better, but it requires more effort and is more difficult to deal with for no reason. the old saying of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" apply's well hear. the only problem is they broke a couple things in trying to fix it

the UI went to S#&$ and the new game mode is new but nothing but its kind of weird you just supposed a demolition dude smh. The new boss is good as something different. But what truly makes the update the worst is looting fixes.

The UI is indeed different and may take some getting used to,

There are both good and bad things present. There are a few more steps for the void relics but it's easier to identify relics while in mission. The stay or go after a rotation is also much better looking.

The 2FA is mostly for avoiding trade spamming I believe, I personally haven't had any issues so far. But I do agree it's a rather old and inefficient method and could use a refresh.

Jupiter rework I still need to explore (don't need parkour with a maxed operator) as I have not really taken in the view as I rush to farm the ropaloli,

The new game mode is interesting, the rewards need to be  rechecked though, as they aren't worth it in my opinion.

The new weapons and mods I have yet to build and test so can't comment.

But I do agree that there seems to be a lot more emphasis on form over function recently. Feels like "it doesn't make such sense but it looks gorgeous, so hammer it in any way you can, or we will forget about it and not add it to the game later in a more refined form like all our old content" thought has taken hold.

It's like a kid learning a new word and now he must use it in every sentence.

Some things are more awkward to use - yes.

Worst update in 4 years? I think you've forgotten when they implemented The Second Dream, and the current star map.. all at once, and the whole thing was broken, all at once. (And they were all at a con too yay)

Lets see what we have:

  1. An ugly and unneededly messy UI
  2. The main farming methods got nerfed extremely
  3. The new event is a bugged mess

Yeah i think it can easily qualify for the worst update.

That's bitter-vet vitriol and polemic hyperbole, and you know it.

  1. UI changes look better, and fit the aesthetic style set forth by the Vitruvian of the Sacrifice - but usability suffered.
  2. Io still works just fine.
  3. The event (Hostile Mergers) works just fine.
  4. The boss fight (Ropalolyst) has some kinks, but is overall the best boss fight DE has ever put out, and it progresses the main story.
  5. Gas City Remaster looks stunning and oozes atmosphere, and sets an example.
  6. Energy/Emissive color split results in very visually appealing options.

Yeah, it's buggy, and yeah, there are things that don't work. DE knows, hell, Steve plain said that they are shipping this update with bugs, because they rather see us play now and hotfix than make us wait longer. It's not a super-duper mega new system crazy Kitguns 2.0 update, it's a solid update by content and the new items added are overall decent to good. The animation bugs are known and will be addressed. It's less than 24h since launch of the update - report bugs, and calm down.

Seems fine to me.

But if its that much of an issue for you...

I'm pretty neutral on the update slightly leaning towards positive.

Wisp annoys me in that her kit does not fit her theme like several other frames. She is also a stay put near a point kind of frame that we have a lot of already. She is actually pretty fun to use in defense and interception missions, though, as her buffs are easy and potent. So, I have mixed feelings here.

The new tiles look slightly nicer than the old ones but have come with loads of bugs. Once the problems are fixed I would say this will be a small net positive.

The new game mode, whatever it's called, is easily the best part of the update. It's a nice combination of defensive and mobile mission style. The game needed this. It's also a fantastic place to farm neural sensors. Unfortunately, it's just one node and the rewards are lack luster. Overall, a positive.

The new mods are simply awful. They are so bad they aren't even worth considering a slot for even for newbies. I guess they are just filler content. The game is slightly worse for having them because they will confuse newbies who don't fully grasp what's good yet. Big negative here.

The new Vandal guns are neat. They aren't going to have you putting away your tigris or catchmoon, they they are enjoyable. Also, the animation on the new glaxion combined with it's AOE effect is really cool. The biggest positive here is that I did the whole event and got both guns in about an hour and 20 minutes. This felt right. I will never do anything like the 100 thermia factures again, never, so this reduced grind is a huge improvement.

I haven't done the new boss, but I've seen video of the fight. I won't judge yet for that reason, but I suspect my opinion will be mildly negative on it.

You win some, you lose some.

I think the real injustice here is loot farm comp was all Hydroid had left to keep him in use. Rip my splashy boy.

The new UI is universally worse than the old one. DE has decided to sacrifice usability and clarity for the sake of eye-candy.

Same goes for the new tileset, which has way too much contrast to it. Sure, it looks pretty, but it plays worse due to enemies blending in with the background. Again that same sacrifice of gameplay for the sake of eye-candy.
