Wukong rework first impressions

The passive is by and large not the worst one there is, but I think nidus' undying or tek assault do a better take on passive immorality. Nidus' especially since it's more engaging, refillable, and provides other passive bonuses that aren't conditional on death.

Equinox spectre with duality is incredibly powerful. So the general consensus that ur spreading is wrong.

His 4 currently with a gladiator build can out dps exalted blade.

My main problem with the new Defy is that it just looks wildly inconsistent. Sometimes you can max it out to 1500 armor, but other times you may only get like 50. And the success of it doesn't depend on the player as much as what the enemy AI does, and how many of them are around for the brief seconds that you absorb damage.

Some people may compare this to Nezha and Rhino, but it really is not nearly as good. Rhino gets the full effect of his Iron Skin the entire time it is up. So if he didn't absorb that much damage, you can just redo it and get the full effect for Longer next time. Same with Nezha, but it's a 90% effect. The entire time it's active he will get that 90% effect. And how successful the absorption is affects how Long he gets it. The key is that the strength of the effect stays the same. But the effect itself has a health. And that Health just determines how long before you loose it and have to recast again.

Not Wukong. Sometimes he may get the effect of like 1000+ Armor, and sometimes it's just like double-digit armor. They need to find a a way to make this more consistent. Tank characters are tanks because they are consistent. If I'm Tanky sometimes and squishy other times, that's not really very survivable. Why would I use the new Wukong if there are other Tank characters? Because of these new abilities? No. I don't Need a clone. That's just a fun gimmick really. And his new 4? I could just like play any other Tank and grab a good Melee weapon.

So I caught word Cloudwalker can pass through laser traps on the rework...I just wanted to say thank you...I've been harping on that for a year in a half now..and I'm really looking forward to having another Spy Vault choice in with Loki, Ivara, and Limbo...So thank you very much...

As much as I was pro against the changes to Wukong originally after I saw the changes and how the work , I have to say I love the direction where it's going.

True were losing immortal wukong but are we really losing anything of importance with the old Wukong. Old Wukong was known for one ability and that is it a one trick pony. With the new direction DE and pablo(bless his heart) is going I can see diversity in the new Wukong.

What im looking forward to the most is the

-new cloud walker, just be observing its looks like it can keep you alive for long periods and a reason to use it now

-new defy so I can finally nuke a room with wukong and look smug about it 

-wuclone

So after dev stream 128 and hearing that wukong got a reworks, it seems that he gain some new mechanic and ability i was excited and now i will tell you guys my opinion about the rework:

1. The new ability Hair of the King, i think its an absolutely a must and a fantastic ability, i mean having a shadow that does opposite thing from you man its so much better than the previous pokey stick ability (but seriously does frame have hair) 

2. "Defy no longer making you immortal what????"  That probably what most of people think and yeah that also my reaction but.....  Being able to be invulnerable for a brief period and bounce back the damage taken is also a great thing especially if your shadow/clone gain the same perks as you. 

3. Faster cloud walk and it bypass lassers, no comment on that. 

4. Primal fury is having a dmg boost and new mechanic is an absolutely a good news i was bored to see wukong beating his stick to the ground over and over again and sometimes do flip. 

5. New passive is Defy with bonus perks so his passive changed into a half of what defy was, being able to be resurrected after death but only 3x hmm...  Seems like a downfall,  but no worries monkey lovers it came with 4 choose able perks but you can only choose 3. The perks are a.) i wanna be rich b.) i want more damage on my corrosive c.) monkey down monkey gone d.) drink less for more effect

So thats it from me feel free to reply and share your thought Rabbit out.

They aren’t turning Defy into a CC ability. They’re turning it into Nyx’s Absorb. Which has a very high chance of making the ability worse.

Now you mention it yeah totally forgot about girl excal ability, thanks for reminding me, but i doubt the mechanic would be the same since wukong have his shadow,  you can hide somewhere while the shadow take the defy hit and bounce it back something that girl excal can't do.

You’re forgetting that enemy damage does next to nothing against enemy health. Reflecting damage has always been useless.

New Defy. To my understanding, it has damage multiplier. Allowing it to deal out muuch more damage than what was actually absorbed. Reb activated it and in a very few seconds instantly dealt 40k to surrounding foes

Maybe you absorb wrong or maybe your enemy isn't attacking you instead its your cat/dog/moa or even your flying buddy that they are attacking.

I don’t use pets and the sentinel would stay next to me, inside the Absorb bubble.

Well that’s good to hear. Now they just need to put that multiplier on Absorb as well LIKE THEY SHOULDVE DONE DURING NYX’S REWORK!

might not be that bad. still super salty over iron jab dying for clone instead of cloud walker. oh well. Not like it matters. Monkey can sit on the shelf now.

Why. As Pablo said, statistically it wasn't really used and did not work in the current meta where you need to be able to kill multiple enemies fast and you already have guns for that.

Instead of changing how Iron jab could've worked they trashed it altogether. 

Picture this; Wukong's Iron jab launching him off anything it hits when normal pressed. While at first this sounds like a bad thing it's also a great asset far as mobility, parkouring and his melee experience as a whole goes. Especially if velocity of him getting launched is affected by sprint speed or atk speed. 

Making it go solely off his Iron Staff for modding and scaling dmg would've resolved the dmg issue. 

Wukong is mostly a melee frame so saying he has guns for that undermines the fact he's supposed to be a melee specialist to begin with. His arsenal weapons should be supplementary to his kit not be the crutch.

 

Then there's the issue of how poorly cloud walker is as a ability altogether. yes he can change into a cloud, but that leaves many questions like first off.

Why is he using his ability to shapeshift into anything to turn into a cloud instead of like anything else? Why can't that cloud be summoned like a projectile and slung at enemies to snare them. Why can't it be used to call down lightning.

Instead they gave it invis and a buff with healing. Handy as those are it doesn't remove the fact it's a lousily assembled ability to imply he can transform, that he can empower himself and others, and overall just a meh means of transport when he was very mobile without riding one. In jttw he could've bypassed all the trials solely by jumping to and back. Meanwhile no nod of him being able to traverse so far like that.

Like Iron Jab it's a horribly missed chance but it didn't deserve taking up an ability slot to begin with. However Jab had much more potential use than turning into a cloud has. The cloud could've even been relegated to his passive but that ship was clearly ignored.

So a lost cause to make him great for the time being. maybe when he gets another rework a few years from now. Good riddance to that excuse of a monkey. Same goes to players that just used him for Defy.

 DE wants to properly recreate the truly important parts of Wukong in a 4 skill set. His staff, the Ruyi Jingu Bang, is represented quite nicely in his 4 and so when a skill is going to be cut it's better to cut a skill that suffers not just from a lack of usefulness, but also from overlap.

 Cloudwalker was never going to be cut as it represents the Cloudwalking boots that Wukong won by defeating the Dragons of the four seas. It's a part of his legend that he has them as much as his staff.

 Iron Jab was cut because it lacked both as a skill and in flavor in regards to his overall theme.

Instead of making that a passive trait of his kit instead. Like we don't have frames with more than one passive. 

Nvm the fact they left out his shapeshifting as well which is miles more crucial to him than his cloud walking boots.
