I think Warframe might’ve used my fan concept! (AND I’M KINDA EXCITED ABOUT IT!!)

Back in 2018, before I rage quit the Sony company altogether and abandoned my PS4 account, I submitted this fan concept for a Warframe.

Now, in 2019, a Warframe that resembles my concept has just been shown on the Devstream.

Described as a “Kirbyframe” who “eats things, devour them, digest them” and “carry them around in his stomach”.

I don’t know whether my thread was the inspiration, or if Scott and I just think alike, but I’m HYPED!!!!!!! 😜

Did you not read my thread that I linked at the top? 🤔

It’s more than just the build, it’s everything else- eating enemies, carrying them around in it’s stomach, they called it a Kirbyframe so that implies it also spits up it’s enemies, and it digests them.

“I'm thinking of a Warframe based purely on overconsumption- on Greed and Decadence. A big effing globular tank, like those Kuva Guardians.

His first ability can involve frantically consuming his enemies for added health and armor or various other benefits, and then either slowly digesting them for a steady health regen or expelling them partially digested in either a spray or pool of corrosive stomach acid. For range, perhaps give him a frogs tongue, and let him also grab bunches of nearby enemies with his hands.”

It's entirely possible. Nidus is clearly inspired quite heavily by the Typhus(?) fan concept,so that shows that they are open to at least taking aspects from fan concepts.

Huh? What are you even talking about? As soon as they said Wukong and hair in the same sentence my brain shut down and waves of pure, sublime satisfaction flowed through my being. 

It was as if everything in the warframe universe was being remade, but better. I think that they also mentioned his cloud but by that stage my ears were ringing with angelic voices. I've only just started to shake it all off. 

Anyway thanks for making this really great thread about the improvements being made to Wukong.

Thank you for not being mocking and at least acknowledging the possibility.

Honestly, even if it’s just something they’ve always had in mind, or DE Scott just happened to have the same idea as me, I’m just glad it’s being added.

My fat butt is so going to main the heck out of it.

Wouldn't be the first time. Zephyr was a fan art of a male wind user Warframe before the team decided to take it in as well.

I think they are using someone else's fan concept which is similar to yours, cause i remember they had artwork and i commented on it. Also this is the concept they based it on: at 34:25.

Even the weapon looks the same. A huge club.

Maybe I can ask them whether my written concept possibly inspired them to make their art concept, or if great minds just think alike. 😉

(Man, I wish I could draw- my art looks like it belongs on a parent’s fridge! 😂)

Even if it wasn’t my idea that inspired this Warframe, this Warframe still perfectly matches what I described in my concept.

So even if it’s not my idea, it’s still something I had thought of and wanted in the game.

IIRC it was a while back, like mid last year,  when i found it.

But the art it had looked almost exactly like the model they showed off, just with different colours (it was mainly red and purple, not brown).

Id love a robotic warframe.  When I heard Hildryn woulda had a big ass gun, that inspired me to drum up a robotic warframe that has its entire existance and weapon loadout based on it's internal weapon package.  but meh.

Well if it was mid last year, my concept was in February (early last year) so there is the possibility my concept inspired his/hers.

Found this thread while trying to find that concept again. I know the one you're talking about. It was literally called "Oni the Gluttonous" and used the same "Void Stomach" term that they used in the stream. His art had the same mouth on the abdomen and everything. The original thread seems to have been removed or something, it's not showing up in any searches.

Maybe they bought the concept and art from him or something and removed his post? Idk.

While getting a concept from the forums into the game is cool and exciting, it also is very disheartening when DE doesn't even acknowledge that it was the work of a fan. I mean, just give a shout-out on the devstream or something. Just show that their work is appreciated and not being outright plagiarized.

I had my own fat frame idea too that seems like the oni but it was geared towards sucking up spare ammo where he'd get bigger the more he stored but then would use it up in artillery/ living armory style attacks and his passive would be as he got bigger he'd slow down but get tougher and at certain size be immune to knockdowns maybe throw some sumo theme in there too but wasnt sure how.

If we go by this logic, then i created League of Legends's Nami since i made a concept in their forums around a year before Nami was announced that highly resembled her, down to the design, weapon and abilities, especially the ult being identical.

 

It really means nothing, plus OF COURSE a thick character focused on eating is going to be referred as "Kirby", who the heck doesn't know who Kirby is?
