Sonic the Warframe. :(

The devs showed off the next in-development Warframe during the recent Devstream.  I guess I've finally found the first pure "level once for Mastery and then ignore forever" design for me.  I'm not a fan of speed powers in this game.  Volt's speed makes me feel actually sick.  Zephyr's Turbulence augment probably would as well, if she wasn't super rare to begin with.  I can mostly tolerate Nehza and Wisp's speed increase on my own because it's not as dramatic and lasts longer, so it's more controllable.  But the new "runner" frame is all about just... going really fast, apparently.  I hope people who like that have fun with it though.  I can't see how it would be useful in most of the tileset maps though.  Grineer and Infested maps are all about narrow twisting corridors, and the runner feels like it would spend most of its time getting stuck on random pipes and crates.  (Sort of like Archwing missions in the Corpus ship wreckage maps.  Go fast, get stuck.)

We've seen one (in-progress) ability.

Atlas was supposed to be the "Brawler" Frame yet only one ability really supports that,
the rest of his kit is actually quite nicely varied (if not super effective, but that's beside the point).

Until we get to see (more info on) the finished product,
I think it's wrong to denounce this Frame as being a (bad) one-trick pony.

The corridors are what I wondered about when I saw this frame. It won't be easy to take these turns. This is why these "bursts" or speed there I guess. Seems like his first ability so you won't have to run fast if you don't want to.

I guess DE won't leave him as just a fast runner but will give him abilities that help him differently. I will agree it will be a shame if they did leave him as no more than a fast runner.

I like the concept, I just wish we knew more about him.

Personally I don't really like the bottom half of the frames design. When I saw the teaser I was thinking it was going to be some sort of deus ex, infinity war iron man, form changer frame. While I can most likely roll with the theme as maybe he will be like interceptor from anthem, but I do not agree with how he looks.

His shoulders look very squished together, his skirt looks silly and too big and I do not like the small feet design.

Since he is gundam inspired, maybe his bottom half could be this instead?

I don't know what else to say. Right now, I am honestly disappointed with the reveal and how it is themed around going fast. It doesn't help that they still ignore the thread of melee feedback which does not like the current melee system.

Least the big boi frame looks interesting.

They said they were considering PVP racing venues...

This might be a niche frame meant for a race circuit we haven't seen as of yet and not for the corridors of Eris...now that's not to say you can mod a frame for battle if you want to..but I get the feeling that this might be DE's stab at FORZA

since he is the "speed frame, he should affect all types of Speed in the game:

- first ability gives him ultra-fast running mode, with a an opt-out for other players. could also do more damage if you melee right after you sprint, since there would be more power in the strike.

- Second ability gives Melee Speed Increase. perhaps combining 1 and 2 prevents you being stuck in place when doing combos that root you on the spot: this guy could do all cobos while moving, and could test whether non-static combos would truly work in melee 3.0.

- third ability gives a fire rate increase, and affects weapons with charge times.

-fourth ability could be a full-power dash forward that damages and ragdolls all within a certain radius.

I didn't say the frame would be bad.  I said that the one trick we've seen (and that apparently sets the "Theme" for the frame) is something that I personally don't enjoy and actually can't use.  The little the devs showed off, of the frame super-dashing around near the door in Cetus is "literally unplayable" for me.  The movement speed changes (and blur, and Field of View changes) were nauseating for me during just the few seconds that they showed it off.

For all I know, the frame could be Super Effective.  Just... not for me.

i forget the names of the other potential abilities... i remember one of the others not shown was called kinetic plating and then redline for the ult. so it might not be all speed at all. which a lot of frames have one ability someone doesn't like. i'd say try it out before writing it off or at least see the rest of their abilities. this is extremely knee jerk

The colouration and the initial theme as a racer I can't help but feel this is a homage to former Canadian (from Canadian dev team) F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve.

The colours (blue, white, and gold) are similar to his 1997 championship winning Rothman's (eww tobacco sponsorship) Williams and the 'mustache' looks like an F1 wing.

Heh...

#1 Speed Dash that kills enemies by merely running through them.

#2 Aerial Homing Attack at mach speed where the frame turns in spiked ball of frame & buzzsaw throug enemies.

#3 The Frame uses its speed to become extreme evasive, easily dodging all projectiles while making snarky remarks at the enemy.

#4 The frame curls into a ball & spins in place until the player finishes charging the ability or runs out of speed & Energy; then lain has itself at enemies at mach speed as a ball of death, ignoring doors, ignoring shields, armor, & etc.

Passive: Jumping on enemies does lethal damage

Hmm...sounds like a damn good frame to me. Bwuahahaha.

I have a feeling that this new "runner" warframe is going to be the near equivalent to the Team Fortress 2 Scout except on Tenno steroids.

they admitted they are out of ideas for frames yet won't start opening contests for players to submit frame ideas so they got something to work with. hm....
