S7ORM
Why is it that when I have only the Glaive Prime equipped, I have to do a half-swing basic attack before I can follow up with a charged attack? Contrast to the fact that when I hold the Pyrana+Glaive Prime together, I can immediately start a charged throw? Now, I've been away from the game for quite some time, but I recall the basic-attack-first thing being an issue when Melee 2.0 first came out. How is it that we were able to solve that by equipping a gun, but in the 3 years I've been gone, we couldn't solve it for Sword Alone?
(PSN)haphazardlynamed
Its a throwback reference to DE's previous game Dark Sector you get rewarded for pretending to be Hayden, Pistol/Glaive duel wielding superiority.
Lone_Dude
Because devs don't consider it to be important enough to allow us to perform charge attacks properly. They were removed in melee 2.0 completely, all charge attack mods had their stats replaced to affect channeling. And then charges were brought back in this half-butted state to appease the fans(?) I suppose. Dual-wielding was a fun idea, and someone at DE probably liked it so much they actually worked on it to not be completely terrible. It all might change in melee 3.0. Seeing the release pace, however, you might have to wait another year till you get proper charges, unless devs change their mind.

Glaives and the Redeemer still had their charge attacks (whether quick melee or stance) upon melee 2.0's release, and they didn't have this pointless pre-swing before doing them. They got nerfed so that you were forced to swing the weapon first before charging at some point later on, but I definitely remember firing off straight uninterrupted gunshots with the redeemer. It was the only weapon I actually used for months.
