Steel_Rook
The Kuva Fortress has invincible Sensors/Cameras which trigger otherwise inert turrets and traps. One of the traps releases a swarm of Latcher roller mines. By design, these are intended to then pursue the player, latch onto their Warframe and explode. And up until fairly recently, they did that. Now, however, Latcher Dispensers instead release "friendly" Latcher roller mines. They show up as blue dots on the map, cannot be attacked, will not attack the player and will instead attempt to latch onto other Kuva Grineer. Seems like the Latchers are now being spawned with the wrong alignment for some reason.
Sabremouse
Yup 10 of them following me around on the POE during a bounty mission today. Not attacking me or destructable when fired upon. Did appear as blue allies on the minimap.
Steel_Rook
I've only seen them in the Kuva Fortress, but what you describe sounds consistent with my experience. Bring them near enemies, see if they'll try to latch onto them. They did for me.
