scanner/mining tool defaulting back to gun after melee attack now?

Why is the game switching back to your primary now when you have a mining tool or scanner out, and then use melee?  This is a terrible change.  The mining tool/scanner takes the place of the primary weapon until you switch back to it.  Otherwise you're going to have to get out the scanner or mining tool after every.single.time. you do an attack.  It's super easy to switch to your gun, all it takes for me is one mouse scroll down, but with this new change, I'd have to hot key both the mining tool and scanner, and constantly hit those buttons in those missions.  I can't see why anyone would want this change at all, its way harder to mine or scan now.

Yep, kinda find it was uncalled for the change ~ why not treat them as weapons as it did before ?
Can only hope for improvement there when the last pass hit.
