Host migration didnt happen so I lost my chance at getting shock step ephemera

Ok so me and my friend just finished exploiter orb and were waiting for it to explode, his internet cuts out and instead of host migration happening I am kicked out of the squad and lose all the stuff I gathered from the mission, he reconnects and gets all his stuff back including a shock step ephemera, DE I am not happy can someone plz explain this
