Recommended Posts

GUYS, NOBODY UNDERSTANDS!!!!! In tha name of google, I shall explain. "Clears thought for a long and depressing story" Once apon a time there was the Nintendo gaming console, witch lead to the ps1 ps2 and Xbox, then the xbox 360 and the ps3 then the ps4 and the XB1. Now, the company google was looking for a way in gaming this long depressing period, on 2018 ish they released their grand vision witch isn't soo imposible. Imagine watching a guy streaming 4k 60fps on youtube, google owns youtube. Add a controller and add a game and BOOOOOM google stadia, FYI, you don't have to pay for google stadia, 4k 60fps is free, now the 8k 120fps is a subscription witch will be available 2020. Your welcome.

Once upon a time, there was a Nintendo gaming console made by game enthusiasts, which lead to the PS1/PS2 and Xbox by and for game enthusiasts. Now the company Google was looking for a way to advertise and data mine in gaming during this long depressing period of not having access to players' personal preferences and behavior. In 2018ish, they released their grand vision which renders it impossible to block ads or disable snooping mechanisms. Imagine playing a game and watching a guy streaming 4k 60fps on a cloud server where the player and viewer have no control over which ad is displayed and which preference and behaviors are mined? Add a controller, and boom, Google Stadia. FYI, you don't have to pay for Google Stadia because you are selling your personal preferences and behavior in exchange for 4k 60 fps for free, now the 8k 120 fps is a subscription which will be available for free when gamer profile are more profitable sometime in 2020. You're welcome.

Sooo.. Basically Google is making their own Steam Link?

No. Steam link streams a game that is saved locally on your own pc to a television or other display that’s on the same network.

Stadia streams games more like Netflix streams movies. Your controller sends instructions to a stadia server somewhere which renders to game and streams the video back to you.

Warframe will be on google stadia.

Until we see an announcement from DE themselves I think we can take this with a LARGE pinch of salt.

So will most games be.

I'm not sure you understand either.

Sure Stadia Base will be free...but are you aware that with any "free" service, you are going to get bombarded by ads and and lots of unwanted crap? Also Stadia Base is only standard HD - NOT 4k:

Stadia Base:

Coming next year
Resolution: Up to 1080p

Frame rate: 60 fps

Sound: Stereo

Buy games whenever you want: Yes

Access to free games released regularly: No

Stadia Pro-exclusive discounts on selected game purchases: No

Only Stadia Pro offers 4k resolution:

Stadia Pro:
Three months included in the Founder's Edition.
Part of the Founder's Edition
Resolution: Up to 4K

Frame rate: 60 FPS

Sound: 5.1 surround sound

Buy games whenever you want: Yes

Additional free games released regularly: Yes, starting with Destiny 2: The Collection

Stadia Pro-exclusive discounts on select game purchases: Yes
£8.99 / mo

Also, whichever way you go, there is still the £120 (or equivalent) up front cost for the controller & access device.

As previously discussed, this is likely only going to apply to casual gamers who haven't already invested heavily in consoles. Personally its not going to persuade me to stop playing on my PC. Can't imagine it will appeal to streamers / content creators either, as they need specialised setups to play while streaming, as well as the ability to save & edit videos.

How about we respect other ways of gaming? And what if Warframe releases on it, as a streamed game? No one thought the Switch would be able to run it (or other games) either, but there it is. Stadia is made for another kind of gamer consumer, which one way or another is still rather uncommon among the gaming community,[...]

You mean the kind of gamer that is willing to put games they have to pay for, and then LOCK them behind a paywall controlled by a (self-admitted) Evil Entity that has shown a propensity for totalitarian Censorship, Collusion and Lying? You mean that kind of gamer?

The kind of gamer that will pay a monthly fee to simply ACCESS games they already own? Stop paying and you loose access to your games. Yeah, that Brilliant Gamer. /s  The Sheep Pen is this Way.

Better than the kind of gamer that is hateful just because he's frustrated at life in general. It's not like I'm defending Stadia, or that I plan to be a Stadia player. Also, please read more than the first 5 comments for your venting's sake. My stance on this is very clear troughout the thread, and you'll see how your insult is very misguided.

The hate train was that way, sir, but already departed weeks ago. By now it's not even a matter of you agreeing or not. From the thread's creation "Warframe on stadia" went from "We're not planning to" to "Well, it makes sense to release WF, as a free game, on yet another console". In other words it went from "most likely no" to "maybe, possibly", which makes me believe it's not even a matter of "if", but when. No matter if I agree or not, because it's irrelevant to me.

All I said in my posts is to disagree, sure, but all the hate is rather unnecessary, as it'd only lead to toxicity for whatever new players could join. So please. Use someone else to vent, brave internet defender of gaming justice. And don't pretend like you're the only enlightened person in this world. I suggest taking a look at my profile to see just how much I defend player/consumer freedom and trust if you have doubts about me being a "sheep".

YOU are the only one mentioning hate and all the other virtue signaling 'buzzwords.' Projection, bigotry and unbounded assumption abound. Pay Your Masters and Like It. Enjoy the Bonds.

Though question... I mean, if it proves to be a solid and viable deal it will for sure imo. But Stadia's way of working is a bit ahead of its time, I'm afraid. So maybe, but I'm not expecting it to happen tbh. Seems like extra work for too much of a limited platform right now. At least for it j0to justify the investment, time and resources to it.

I guess DE may speak about it in more detail during Tennocon.

It always amuses me when people say streaming services are the future when ISPs have been trying to choke, throttle and tier their service plans for years. Offering the consumers less all for the low low price of more...... You think streaming all your games in 1080p or 4k is going to be cheaper just because the "console" you need to do it only set you back $120 or whatever? Nope cause your ISP is gonna find a way to charge you the difference or throttle you down to 106p, Enjoy~

Oh and on those days when your internet is down for whatever reason and you just want to play a game to pass the time...... good luck with that. To which I'm sure I will glean a few "If your internet is down your power is probably down so it doesn't matter" ..... yeah I've had a lot more network hiccups and issues over the years than I've had my power go out.

Well here we are again.

I doubt Stadia's going to work out well. There was input lag in the reveal way back when, which would have been in the best possible conditions. I doubt we'll be so lucky unless Google feels charitable enough to upgrade the internet for free. Globablly, since the vast majority of people don't live in the US.

Yeah I don't see this kind of thing happening properly for at least a decade or more.

I'm almost certain that Stadia will either fail completely or become a niche platform for strategy games and other stuff that do not demand responsive controls.

Unless Google somehow manages to sell the input lag as a feature like the '30FPS is more cinematic' bs Ubisoft did.

As others have said. Stadia is ahead of it's time. It requires a solid internet infrastructure to work in a way that doesn't feel inferior to how we play now. A solid internet infrastructure is something the US (if you live there) is dearly lacking, since ISPs basically just have monopolies and oligopolies on large swatches of the US and therefore have little to no competition and little to no reason to innovate or improve on their service.

it's not like they are the first, ONLIVE did this many, many, many years ago, many have tried it and the same issue is always the same, ping/input lag.

Honestly I bet most developed countries outside the US have better internet.

And nothing much has changed since then. US internet is still mediocre, OnLive is also dead now, and any game you purchased on it goes poof- into the void forever. The same will happen when/if Stadia doesn't fix the problems OnLive had. The service will discontinue, and because everything is streamed, everything you bought just disappears.
